    Trail Blazers (13-9) @ Kings (6-15)

Once again the Trail Blazers step on the home floor and look invincible, throttling the Bobcats by 44, 112-68. Now the real test is whether or not this show can be taken on the road. Fortunately for Portland, Sacramento offers up a great chance to shake off the road blues. The Kings are owners of the West's second-worst record (6-15), have lost five straight games by a combined 16 points per contest, including a 101-89 loss at the hands of the Blazers on the 23rd of January, and are only .500 at home (4-4).

With only 22 games under their belts, this will be the third time the two teams have done battle so far this season. Portland has taken the first two meetings -- both held at the Rose Garden -- by an average of 17 points. In both games, the Trail Blazers were able to eclipse the century mark and when they do that they are 9-2. And it's been on the road where the offense stalls and sputters as the Blazers only muster a mere 90.5 points per game compared to their 104.7 scored in front of the Rose Garden faithful. A big reason for that discrepancy is Gerald Wallace who looks like an All-Star in the Rose City but a bench warmer on the road. The good thing is Crash knows this and expects to make amends for it. Here's what he told Sarah Hecht post-game:

“Anytime you get a win after a tough loss, especially a game where you pretty much controlled the whole game, it’s always kinda like a healing,” Gerald Wallace said of the win over Charlotte after the loss at Utah. “That’s something that we gotta take on the road and I think it starts with me out on the road. I don’t think my performance is as up to par on the road as it is at home, so I gotta figure out a way to get us going on the road.”

This game is very important for many reasons because we need a killer instinct mentalilty on the road and this is a perfect team to start to have that mentalilty and to build the confindence because that's what lacking with this team the great teams have it granted it's the Kings but, you have to start somewhere.

I think Crash will have a good game because it's against his former team and what better way to get on the right track on the road than to play against your former team.

Team is definitely a first round exit waiting to happen. Can't beat terrible teams on the road, won't beat good teams on the road.

Is anyone else tired of watching this happen? Is there a clone of every blazer, with about half the basketball talent, that comes in during the second half?

We do not have a player who is mentally strong on the road, its our mental mindset, they all shot well int he first half, then we tried taking tough shots, and we went cold, and the whole team followed the trend, we need that brandon roy type player to say ill make some shots, and the team will follow

i think that one little thing is separating us and miami, chi, okc, and the other teams, we are just as good as them at home, but we dont have the mind set to be as good as them on the road...

They need a whole new coaching staff. Nate can't get them up for games, they play well against good teams because it's easy to get fired up for those by yourself. And our great fans get them going at home. The strength and conditioning coaches are not doing their jobs, Portland just looks tired and lazy not just this year but for the last several. Too many injuries as well.

nate is not the problem, he is one of the best coaches in the league, and he does the best with the pieces he has, not to many coaches could do what he does

what a joke we give away another game we were doing just silly things out there this team is just a big tease they show us how good they can be at home but, give away games on the road. Maybe this team needs to make some changes because they don't hold themselves accountable because we keep hearing that everyone gets along so well that they are afraid to hold themselves accountable. maybe when Denver comes to town they can show us how to win on the road.

This is beyond the point of "rough patch" and has turned into a regular occurrence. We have had a very favorable road schedule so far and we aren't taking advantage. Currently, we are outside of the playoffs. My fear is that once we get into the thick of our road schedule in March, we'll struggle but it'll be too much to overcome because we gave away these bunnies early on in the season.

Why we continue to shoot jump shots instead of going to the basket is beyond me. We score 56 in the first by being aggressive then we let up and score 36. I'm at a loss right now. There are no easier road games right now than the Kings and we couldn't get it done. Truly a Jekyll and Hyde team right now. At least we're awesome at home!

Hey, we can't say we're better without Batum. After that 44 point win last night, I was a little worried.

I've said it before here.  This is a jumpshooting team without any jumpshooters.  That's a problem, and a big one.  The best and most consistent shooter on this Blazer team is also their only consistent post threat.  Threat because there are some games Aldridge's kicks don't get paint on them.  Add to this misery the distinct, DISTINCT absence of a player who can create with the bounce, both for himself AND teammates and you have a recipe for disaster...a recipe for exactly what I predicted on here at season's start.  A sub-.500 team.  Changes?  Yes.  They are coming.

matthews still needs to work on fast breaks. he needs to look behind him he almost always has lamarcus or gerald behind him and one pass is an easy 2points rather than getting blocked. this game was total suck. cousins did his typical girly whine and the refs gave in. there was a lot of contact with the bigs but they singled out thomas on a lot of it. thomas was only being a prick because cousins is a giant 5th grade girl trapped in a mans body. thomas reminds me of dennis rodman, karl malone, and rasheed wallace with his ability to get into peoples heads, and i love every second of it.

the way it sits i predict 30-3 at home 11-22 away. probably don't make playoffs, maybe 8th seed and a first round exit. Lamarcus needs to embrace the hate again and just tear teams up by himself if no ones going to help him.

Most of our road losses have been by a small point difference - we need to play better defense, and we need to get a center who can clog up the paint at the end of games. This team isn't playing the defense that Nate is known for.

Why oh why isn't Marcus Camby playing at the end of road games?  I know we need shooters on the floor but they're not scoring.  We also need defenders on the floor and without Batum that should have been Marcus who would help keeping people off of LaMarcus. The difference between first quarter and fourth quarter play?  No Marcus Camby on the floor in the fourth.
