Trade Idea: Chris Kaman

    DIME Magazine listed the five teams that should go after Chris Kaman. To no one's surprise, the Trail Blazers were on that short list. Here's what Sean Sweeny wrote:
    I love Portland’s roster about as much as anyone’s in the league. They are deep, versatile, long, athletic and skilled. With that maniacal homecourt advantage, I keep saying they’ll go deep in the playoffs this year, even if they continue to blow games each week. But outside of LaMarcus Aldridge, that frontline might give them 12 back-to-the-basket buckets all season. Marcus Camby has 51 points this entire season. Kurt Thomas hasn’t scored on anything other than a 15-footer in probably two years. Craig “The Rhino” Smith doesn’t know what “touch” is.
     Kaman isn’t the most efficient post player. In fact, he sucks at handling double-teams, and turns the ball over quite often. But the Blazers’ top seven scorers shoot these percentages: 50, 42, 49, 36, 43, 37 and 34. It’s doubtful they’ll be able to re-sign Nicolas Batum. He’ll want starter money, and that’s going to Gerald Wallace. Why not get something for him instead of taking the risk?

    The bottom line is Portland needs a semi-young center. Marcus Camby won't be around forever and no one really knows the status of Greg Oden. Kaman is only 298 years old and was a 2010 All-Star. Is he the savior? No. Will he make us title contenders? Probably night. But he does get us closer. And what makes it better is teh fact he's an expiring contract. If it doesn't work out, then boom..more cap space for this summer. I will point out that it's interesting to see how outside media is already leaning on the Batum situation. Many seem to think he's going to get P.A.I.D. this summer.

    I wouldn't deal Nic for Kaman, because we can match any offer for Batum. But I would like him on the team. Who would you guys give up for Kaman? Remember salaries have to somewhat matchup.  Use the ESPN Trade Machine to get a trade that works both talent wise and salary wise and post them here!

    I would be willing to give up camby & williams/a.johnson for kaman. But if we are going to make a move with N.O. for a center, how bout this move:
    Camby&Wallace for Okafor&Ariza?

    We just have a slight problem: Dave Stern has to approve this trade due to NO being owned by the NBA and knowing stern he´d want Aldridge or Crash  for the caveman, we can do camby for kaman as a straight swap according to the trade machine (unless its glitched again), but id go with Camby AJ and and maybe throw in Babbit, but like  austin says id take okafor because NO are desperate to get his megasized contract off too

    LOL I did not know Kaman was 298 years old.... Sorry but it made me laugh.  I would like to get Kaman but I fear losing Batum its a double edged sword

    Im not impressed with Gortat. Everyone wants him but he seems mediorcre to me. He is the most realistic option since all it would take is the 10th pick, but I think he is old and declining.
