Here me out! I can already hear shouts of "NO!" and "Heck no!" from the BlazerManiacs. But Danny Ainge has already said he's willing to break up the Big 3 and I think this team needs a veteran on the team to lead the defense. Sure, he's not the scorer he once was. And he's crazy. But I think we need a little crazy in Rip City. Also, I think he could help mentor LaMarcus and help him grow as a leader. There is no one more vocal on the floor in the NBA then KG so maybe it could help LA transition into the vocal leader he wants to be?

KG makes 20 million this year so it may be tough to match salaries, but if the C's don't want a King's ransom in return, I think it's a move that could push out of the first round.

Any trade would have to have Camby (or Lamarcus - but you said you want to keep him) in it to make the deal work. Canby and Matthews or Canby and Felton would work... or a sign and trade with Canby and Batum. I don't see why the Celtics would do any of those though. Next year they're out of KG's 21.2 million dollar contract either way. They can either let him walk and try to get a FA with all their mula, or they're going to want something back they want to stick with. Camby's not the guy they want - and nobody we could or would pair with him is worth as much to them as they are to us.

p.s... sorry for spelling Camby's name Canby half the time. I'm having a spelling issue with that lately. Hope it still makes sense   :P

How about we unload Oden and Babbitt and a second round draft pick for KG?

Thanks for the advice - that's a tough one for me though. But Kenny... babbitt and oden combined only make like 3.2 million. You need to add almost 8 million more in outgoing to that deal. I hope you weren't serious.

I really want Batum to stay. Do you guys think he's going to stay in Portland? The contract extension needs to be done before Jan. 25 to make sure Batum is not going to be a restricted free agent by the end of the season. What do you guys think?

KG is nearing the end of his career. We would have to move a younger player to Boston (who is already about to blow up and rebuild whether or not Portland is involved in that). My problem is that any young players I would be ok with moving--here I'm thinking about Matthews and Babbit--should only be traded for other players that we can get decent mileage from. Trading for veterans (especially veterans with rings) is a good idea, but you never buy too low. And KG won't be getting his championship style game back before he retires. He's been playing a couple years shy of half his life...

Always liked Garnett but I don't think he's the answer.  I do agree that LA needs to get a little crazy going if he wants to continue improving.  If Ainge is willing to break up the big 3 and go into a major rebuilding cycle in Boston, we should definitely look into whatever we can get from what was a championship roster.  Rondo?

I like Rondo too, but he doesn't necessarily improve our shooting from the perimeter if you know what I mean. But I do think Rondo could work with a guy like Matthews spotting up in the corner. As for KG, I'd love to get him. Is he a d*ck? Yes, but teams need a guy like him if they are to be successful in the postseason. And to make contracts work, Camby would have to be going out in any deal for KG and that just leaves us way too thin up front. Maybe a three-way deal could help the difference in salary? I bet they would want Batum in any deal for KG and that's a no-dicer.

It was pretty hard to make a trade for KG, and it assumes that NY is really willing to blow up their roster and try again. I also dislike this trade very much.

    Here is what I got

I would kill to have Rondo in Portland. He's a warrior. But I'm guessing he will be the center-piece of Boston's rebuilding process. It would be like trying to get Portland to trade LA. We'd never do it because that's exactly who we're building our team around.

Batum is a great fit for their system and is young. Plus a lottery pick and potentially 2 other first rounders would give them a ton of flexibility.

If they say no we move on but at least offering the deal publicly will...
