This team is unknown to my Portland raised kids. We can never watch them because of the Comcast deal. They are now becoming fans of other teams.

As this blackout has continued I have found myself rooting against this organization. I am glad when they lose. The players seem like decent guys, but I (and my kids) cannot root for them. My kids don't know them and I hate the fact that they cut my boys out just to make a buck.

I hope this current Trailblazers ownership never wins a title.

first off ur right they ain't winning no championships and second it is unfair for lots of people with the blackout but you dont have to root against them?

lol wow, now THAT is bitter.

I agree that the deal they've made with Comcast is ridiculous and if the Front Office cared about their fanbase, they'd get out of that contract... But you make it sound like you think this is the first time something like that has happened? It's called business, ask TNT about making contracts that involve exclusive broadcasting, they've got such a tight lock that they even control the start/stop time of the game, just for their commercials!

This kind of thing is not uncommon or new, and even if it were, it's still just a business deal and reflects very little on the NBA franchise here in Portland. Certainly not enough to justify rooting against your "home team", but I don't know if you can really call them your home team since you don't even know anything about the players... and maybe it's just me, but making it a point to specify "this team is unknown to my PORTLAND raised kids" seems like it's more of a reach for credibility than a legitimate complaint about not being able to watch games if you live within the local area. Plus, I'm pretty sure true fans at least know some people on the roster, Comcast subscription or otherwise.

I hope you're not going to teach your kids to dislike the Blazers just because you have a beef with a cable company... Not only does it seem pretty unrelated to the game of basketball or our Portland team, but honestly, if you're raising multiple children, then it's a safe bet you've got a stable household income, and a cable bill probably isn't going to break the budget. Or like Tobyus said above, save a little funds somewhere else, and show the little guys the benefits of responsible money management :)

Whether the Blazers win a game, a streak, a title, or zilch, the "Trailblazers ownership", as you put it, has almost nothing to do with it. They make the business decisions that keep the whole thing working, but they don't have any real say in our team winning the title because they just deal with the money, not the games. You're mad at economists, and you want to punish them by taking away an athletic title from athletes... so yeah, good one there.

    GOOOOOOOO BLAZERS! :)

I have Direct TV. It has the best available sports packages for a good price. Comcast is trying to extort business from me by keeping the Blazer games on Comcast only. The Blazers allowed this situation to happen by signing the ten year deal with Comcast and cutting out over half of their fans. I refuse to let the Blazers and Comcast force me to switch to an inferior service just to watch the team. Instead I choose to get the NBA package from DTV and find another team to root for that my boys and I can watch together on a regular basis.

adlangx - I understand your situation - I was in it myself. It is frustrating for sure and you're not wrong - it was the blazers decision to sign that deal, and it WAS about money. Comcast wanted a NW region for their SportsNet network - the Blazers would be the main attraction for it, and they were the highest bidder for the rights. The Blazers went for it, took the money, and that's pretty much the end of the story. It's too bad they lost fans, but it was to be expected and I'm sure they factored that in. I still love the Blazers though and I did get Comcast once my DTV contract ended (i did feel a little leveraged into it, but whatever)... despite the Blazer's front office decision. Being happy they lost is kind of lame though (in my opinion), but hey... you're not a fan, so whatever... right? But I am just curious... who is your team?

bad enough to moan about the Blazers and blame/punish the team because you don't like the deal they made with a cable company... but as soon as you said you're going "back to following the T-wolves" then I went back to not caring about your gripe.
If "following" a team by watching their cable broadcasts is what makes you a "fan", then you never were a Blazer Fan. On the other hand, if you were "following" the Blazers, you wouldn't be relying so heavily on the cable broadcasts in the first place, so as a real Fan you never would've had this complaint, or at least it would've been just to vent a little, not to curse our team.
You know what real Fans do if they can't get their game on tv? Watch it online, watch highlights online later, or just GO WATCH IT OUTSIDE YOUR LIVING ROOM. There are plenty bars that will have it on and you don't have to pay Comcast. If you want to bring your kids, find a cafe or diner! OR, realize you can't watch every game anyway cuz you have other priorities. Part of having a family maybe? Then again, if watching sports live is still a big priority for you, could always just swallow the small cable bill for the blazer season (there will likely be a promotion for signing up that will save you some $$ anyway) and DEALLLL WITH IT. That's part of being a Fan.

Ooohh B247 that gave me goosebumps!  I LOVE IT!!!  I cannot watch games very often, being stationed in Alaska :'(, but I listen to the radio broadcast whenever possible through the NBA access on the ESPN scores page.  It isn't my #1 choice but I will take listening to the game over rooting for another team any day of the week.

I will be out of the country next year.. Europe doesnt give a shit about the blazers, but will i become a laker fan, a heat fan, just cuz i cant see my boys but can see them? HELL NO!!

You are not a real fan. you are a fair weather bitch who admittedly is being burned like a lot of fans by a bad business transaction. But of all the reasons to bail on a team, dont do it based on something that really has very little to do with the team itself.

Lemme guess, you love the lakers, the heat, the yankees, the cubs, the patriots and the steelers? They are all on tv, but they are not my team!!!

I never lived in a town with an NBA team, so I started out following the T-Wolves. Once I moved to Portland I started watching the Blazers and liked the team. Then the organization screwed their fans for a buck and now I'm saying to hell with them. If they want to treat their fan base that way then they can count me out.

P.S. Portland lost tonight and the Wolves looked great on the road. The gap is now two games and closing. Go Wolves.

You're STILL blaming the athletic team for something that the money-pushers did... can you not understand that they are two different bodies of people? As in two completely different decision-making systems... if you liked the Blazers cuz you moved here and watched them, then you should be watching this team and liking them just the same, instead of worrying about the frickin negotiations of a BUSINESS. You remind me of those people during the lockout that would say "they all make tons and don't care about us so i'm not gonna watch any nba this year".

And believe me, you're not the first person faced with the decision of signing up for sh**ty comcast for the sole purpose of watching Blazer games... Nobodoy likes comcast, but everyone here (except you) likes the Blazers. I wonder how many of us are signed up for comcast...

Lol and then the troll in you finally comes out huh? Callin out that the stat-padder is gonna catch up to our record, as if it matters before the last few games are being played. Please just go back to the Wolves website, you're not wanted here.

@Blazer247 It is all one organization. Supporting the team puts money in the pockets of the guys that went out of their way to stick it to their fans.

If you are happy supporting a team that takes your support for granted and uses your passion as a fan as leverage against you then by all means, be my guest. I have given them five years to fix this issue and they have done nothing about it except pay lip service and cash checks. I can't support that personally.

@adlangx (lol what, cuz we're tweeting this now?)...

everything you said in the post above could be applied to many teams, many businesses and their profit models, and even <gasp> THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT!!! Watch this, it's kinda fun:

-- adlangx's words, with a govt context instead of sports team context --
"...Supporting the *government* puts money in the pockets of the guys that went out of their way to stick it to their *citizens*... If you are happy supporting a *politician* that takes your support for granted and uses your passion as an *American* as leverage against you then by all means, be my guest. I have given them five years to fix this issue and they have done nothing about it except pay *big business* and cash checks. I can't support that personally"

Point being, the gripe that you have against the Blazers is not limited to happening here, and in fact, it happens without much objection allllll the way through our society.

So, if you feel so strongly about your team/government "sticking it to you"... WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE? Obviously you haven't left the country, even though it's the same basic principle as your complaint about the team's business, but then again, you haven't left said team's forums yet either! Lol just thought that was kinda a funny comparison when I read your post, cuz you hear people say those things about politics, and say they need a change or else they'll pooh pooh and leave, BUT they're not actually doing anything to ignite change... just like you, they just want to whine and bitch and have someone else magically fix it for them.

Go fish for attention on the Wolves' website, you obviously don't belong here.

...Oh wait, no one on the Wolves' website cares about your personal problems either! Maybe you should make the United States of Adlangx, and have your own sports franchise; the Adlangx Zero's.

    Get lost, please.

I love Comcast.  I've got the the bundle.  Love my 20MB downloads.  I don't even read my bill, I just pay it online.  I get all the Blazer games, plus I can stream every movie on Cinemax, Showtime, Stars, and HBO in HD at work.  Helps the day go by a little faster.  Sorry you chose an inferior cable provider.  Nut up and and pay to watch the Blazer games if you are that heated about it.  I really don't care if the Blazer have a shitty deal with Comcast.  I pay to watch the Blazer games, period.  Alternative is to STFU and be a Twolves fan LOL.

No, best sports provider in town is called the INTERNET. Hands down. All you're doing is overpaying for things you could find online. And if you'd stop wasting your money on an outdated service, you'd have even LESS reason to whine about comcast.

"Sorry you chose an inferior cable provider. Nut up and pay to watch the Blazer games if you're that heated about it" bumped.

wow adlangx.. i will be honest, i see your point of view when it comes to buying comcast cable and how that means you in turn "support" the bad cable deal the blazers management did.. After that point though, your arguement and reasoning is baseless and incredibly stupid. If you are from another state that's fine be there fan. When it comes to being a blazer fan though, you can't be a fair-weather Blazer Fan.. Once you feel RIP City you are changed as a fan. You obviously have never felt that feeling, because if you did, you would listen to blazers on the radio, watch online, watch recaps on espn/online, and actually go to games more! You are a joke, and should never say you were a "fan" of the blazers. We really don't need you spreading a stereotype of our fans. I am going to Afganistan in a couple weeks, and there is NOTHING that will stop me from watching/listening/following MY team! I wish my only problem was a CABLE BILL! hahahah grow up adlangx
