    Trail Blazers (8-5) @ Hawks (10-4)

The critical part of Portland's six-game road trip begins Wednesday night in Atlanta. A loss and the Trail Blazers can do no better than .500 on the trip. A win and Portland can not only get redemption for dropping the first two games of the roadie but will be in position to finish strong with Detroit and Toronto up next. Like most teams during this condenses season, the Hawks are dominant at home, winners of six of seven. And even though Atlanta will be without center Al Horford for three-four months, they have won three straight without him in the lineup. Granted, those three wins were at home against Charlotte, Minnesota, and Toronto.

This game also marks Jamal Crawford's return to Atlanta; a team where he saw his most success, even winning the Sixth Man of the Year award in 2010. It's an understatement to say the Trail Blazer guards need to take their game to a higher level, so hopefully playing against his former team will ignite Crawford who is shooting a mere 34.2% from the field and 30% from downtown -- both career lows. Jamal did express some feelings of not being fully acclimated with the new system to Jason Quick of the Oregonian when he stated, "I'm thinking too much. I'm caught between should I shoot, or should I run the team. But I will do whatever coach wants. There's no excuses. I'm still the one out there playing." In time, Jamal should settle into his new role as scorer and facilitator . Let's just hope that Wednesday kick starts it.

With Horford on the shelf, Portland needs to think inside before attempting anything from the perimeter. What got the Trail Blazers kickstarted against the Hornets was the two-man game between Aldridge and Felton in the third. They ran multiple variations of the pick and roll to get LA great looks at the rim. Once Aldridge got it rolling, the defense had to react which opened up the rest of the court for cutters and three-point hits off of dribble penetration.

Hawks still rollin' even without Horford. Josh Smith is a premier interior defender. Atlanta plays rough and tumble team defense, and like Portland, they are not afraid to shoot from outside. Watch those long rebounds, hands up on D, and let's see if Portland can get easy baskets through transition opportunities.

I would like Portland to try to get the rolling Alley Oop that Rudy used to do.  I am sure Felton or Matthews could pull off that lob and it used to be a great way to catch defenses off guard.

This is one of the few NBA that matches up well against us so it inportant to get a quick start get LA & Crash going hopefully Jamal can get it going and nothing helps more than going against your former team and also get Nic involved he been playing great these last two games and on defense keep atlanta out of the paint and rebound I don't think that they will have marcus playing so the bigs have to rebound. If we force atlanta to play Iso basketball which they are prone to do we should be in good shape to get aonther road win.

I think if Jamal Crawford can make more scores and Batum is playing great just like the past 2 games, we'll be fine.

If we want to consider ourselves a top-tier team in the West, then let's play like one. There will be no excuse for going into Atlanta, without Al Horford and not dominating the paint. Feed Aldridge until the defense decides to stop it then attack the open space on the floor that was previously occupied by a Hawks defender.

Kurt Thomas getting into foul trouble really hurt us tonight. When your guards can't throw it into the ocean, it makes it that much worse when Kurt, who was knocking down everything in sight, go down with foul trouble.

    Also, an update on Batum:
X-rays taken on Nicolas Batum's left eye came back negative for an orbital fracture. He is listed as day-to-day.

We need a consistent second scoring option after L.A. Not to happy with Felton's shooting and ball handling up to this point either. Hope all these kinks get worked out in this short season.

At least none of the Blazers got a rub-a-dub-dub, like Parsons dunk on McGee the other night.

Yeah, he was tripping with that Scottie Pippen reference. Nowhere as good as him, BUUUTTT, I think he can be, if he plays like a man. In Euroleague, you are taught more about finesse, and the fundamentals. He needs to put a little more muscle on, ...

I think what Stotts is doing is superb. His plays are great. I remember the only play he ever called for Meyers Leonard, against the Bobcats. Great movement, got LMA a good mid range look, got Batum a decent three look and the got Meyers way down ...
