5:00 PM | Toyota Center | Houston, TX
    Trail Blazers (7-4) @ Rockets (4-7)

After faltering in the fourth quarter against San Antonio, the Trail Blazers are now faced with a back-to-back against the Houston Rockets, looking to salvage at least one game from this Texas Two-Step. Fortunately for  Portland, Houston also had to play tonight. But they were at home and won handily over the Kings, 103-89. Unfortunately for Portland, the game is at Houston -- a house of horrors over the past few seasons. The Trail Blazers are 2-11 at the Toyota Center in 13 games (playoffs included) since LaMarcus Aldridge's rookie season of 2006-07.

If the Trail Blazers want to exercise some demons in Houston, they must score over 100 points. In three of the four losses this season (Clippers, Suns, Spurs), Portland wasn't even close to the century mark and got beat handily in all three contests. On the contrary, Portland has scored over 100 in six of their seven wins (98 was the lone non-100 point game). And Houston will let you score, too. They give up on average, 98 points per night -- fifth most in the NBA. But Portland can't go away from what works. They went away from LA against the Spurs when no one in the building could check him. At times, the Blazers just got too careless and tried to rush things. Don't be afraid to run, but when the opportunity isn't there, pull it out and run the offense through Aldridge.

While Houston does have seven-footer Sam Dalembert, they have an undersized front court with 6-9 Patrick Patterson, 6-10 Jordan Hill, and 6-9 Louis Scola. Given LA's long wingspan, neither of the above defenders should be able to take away his jumper or low-post game. Depending on the defender, Portland should exploit that matchup all game long.

The key will be the backcourt battle. Can Felton stop Lowry's penetration? Can Matthews slow down the streak shooting Kevin Martin? Houston only has 4 wins but if Kyle Lowry is able to knife through the D (esp. if Camby can't go?) and Martin gets hot or gets to the charity stripe over 10 times, it could be a rough Texas stint for Rip City.

Who would you start in place of Camby if he can't go? How can Portland get a big W in H-Town?

I would like to see Chris Johnson get more playing time, now that Canby is injured maybe that will happen.

I would like to see Nic Batum in  starting lineup. He played not many time recently, so he can show and provide what he can. I think that he deserve on this chance and he going to take advantage of his chance.
Bonus is Wallace on Scola, who is really good...
LA as C, but he is our Batman so I'm sure that he will cope!! ;)

team has looked tired and lazy last 3 games aside from the rally on orlando late and the opening quarter on the spurs, i think theyll finish this game but its ugly. not sure if they are tired or just not trying very hard right now but i dont like it.

batum and the rhino looked great tonight and only ones playing with energy.

I was worried about their backcourt, and they absolutely torched us. No one could stop Lowry's penetration and when he's on his perimeter game, there's nothing you can do but hope and pray he misses. I thought we gave this one to the Rockets tonight. We had so many chances to pull away only to commit a silly foul or throw a lazy pass. We took way too many jump shots and lost track of the player who brought us back, Batum. Outside of his last second alley-oop, he went what seemed like ages before touching the ball.

agreed dhawes, everyone forgot to give batum the ball and aside from he and craig smith everyone looked flat and lazy. i fear no one plans on stepping up on rebounds with camby out

I thought you just called Craig Smith fat and lazy. Heck, that'd be like signing your own death warrant.

our efficacy another time was not good... Rockets had 3 guys in offense and they defeated us... I'm really disappointed. And our free throws 70%.. damn! 105 point and only 18 assists it's not Blazers basketball, I think! Next game must win!

18 assists is actually up from last year. Blazers working on some new stuff, we've seen it work really good earlier in the season. Teams obviously been scouting us and sharing secrets. Just got to make some adjustments and get back into that nice flow.

Tobyus I hope you're right! ;) and 18 assists I compared whit our last games and it's less. Then was 20+
