    Via Oregon Live-
Ndiaye, who is in Portland and will attend tonight’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers, said the sides have talked briefly to “get on the same page,” but have not yet discussed contract specifics, including an “exchange of numbers.”
“Basically, we’re looking to see how Nic is thought of with the team and how he fits into the future,” Ndiaye said.
But last week, Batum — who has expressed a strong desire to stay in Portland — said that had passed and he was poised to accept whatever outcome materializes through negotiations.

“I just try not to think about it and just focus on my game,” he said. “Hopefully something happens this month. If not, that’s OK.”

I am hoping that Nicolas Batum can stay in Portland. He has a great potential. All we need to do is just give him the ball..

    From Joe Freeman-
The Blazers and the agent for Nicolas Batum met today to discuss a contract extension, but did not reach an agreement.
The sides plan to talk again soon to discuss extension, but no date has been set. A deal must be reached by Jan. 25 or Batum becomes RFA.

    From Joe Freeman-
Bouna Ndiaye, the agent for Nicolas Batum, did not sound optimistic about an extension. “Right now, I’m not sure we’ll get something done."

Lets hope Ndiaye doesn't prize Batum too high. He is good but even when he was a starter we didn't see the game play we would of liked for a big money player..

Did the Blazers not pass Batum the ball in the last 10 minutes of the game against Houston, because they didn't want him hitting his career high, in order to say he still stinks, and they only have to pay him this small amount?

Call it conspiracy, call it drama, I say call in the boss and pay this guy RIGHT NOW!

I totally agree with Tobyus Sanchezo. He's right.. Batum is a great player. He has shown it in his last 2 games.. 29 points against Houston and 19 points (2nd leading score for the Blazers) against Hornets.. I think the Blazers need to sign the extension as soon as possible or they will lost him..

I call i conspiracy. Also don't be foolish enough to forget that the NBA has a SALARY CAP! We can't just go paying everyone who thinks they are good. And then go and pay them what they think they should get paid. Thats why there are negotiations.

Nothing to worry about here. Nic is playing well while his agent negotiates with the blazers as it should be. Nothing real is getting leaked to the media and it looks like everything is being handled very professionally. If the deal got done too quickly it would look like Nic was getting underpayed and it would probably be true. If the blazers and Nic's agent are far apart, they Blazers can just let him be a restricted free agent and see what the market bears. They may pay more then they want, but it will most likely be less then what his agent is looking for. I'm positive the Blazers will get him signed one way or the other. This is the most important contract Nic will sign in his career. We shouldn't blame him for wanting to get it right. + he keeps saying all the right things. He wants to be here.

Doesn't appear it will get done according to Joe Freeman

The have a little more than 31 hours left to sign Nicolas Batum to a contract extension, but it does not appear a deal is close.

The and Batum's agent, Bouna Ndiaye, met face-to-face Monday and continue to talk today. Deadline to reach deal is 9 pm Wednesday.

Even if they don't give him the extension, it doesn't mean that we won't see him in a blazer uniform next season... more likely is that it just means Batum's agent is overvaluing him compared to what the Blazers think they can afford to give him.
Nic has said he doesn't care about the money, which implies he'd be fine to take less and stay here in Portland where he likes it, but a greedy agent that doesn't listen to his client can screw that up pretty quick.
Worst case scenario: We don't give Batum his extension, and instead give him the minimum qualifying offer when he becomes RFA, and then hope that no other team throws out a bigger offer that we can't afford to match.

Is there anything that we can do as fans to help Batum? I believe Nic's a fairly active twitter guy, and after the way that Rip City helped convince Jamal Crawford to join us in Portland, couldn't we make the same plea to Nic?

People should tweet Batum and remind him how much he's loved here. At the very least, maybe it will motivate him to tell his agent what he wants to do, instead of letting the agent do all the negotiating. Cmon Portland, if you want to keep him, now's the time to act...

in my opinion batum looks aggressive and hungry but it seems like his teammates and his coach forget about him in the offense, i can't count how many times this season he's been wide open and someone had to have seen him but they toss up a contested shot or make a bad pass to someone else for a turnover. his defense has been fire and he's doing a great job at crashing boards. I'd like to see him get more minutes, I know it's tough cause we have so many good guys at the 2 and 3. i think he gets frustrated and camps in the corner when he's frustrated. I hope he stays a blazer, he has great character and great basketball skills.

Just read the news saying that Batum is going to be a RFA this summer. Honestly, I was upset and disappointed with the Blazers as they are not considering him well by giving a low-ball offer. They think Batum is not as good as Wallace but they forgot that Batum doesn't get the opportunity to show what he can do. I think the Blazers has treated him unfair.

On the other hand, I think it's good for Batum to be a RFA and I'm looking forward to see him growing in other NBA team and I'm looking forward to get his new jersey. Honestly, I wanted him to stay but if he's moving, I'll definitely not going to support this team anymore.

SEALER!!! Just because Batum didn't get the extension signed DOES NOT MEAN HE WON'T STAY A BLAZER.

It means his agent wanted too much, so at the end of the season Blazers will give him the qualifying offer, and then match whatever another team offers.

BATUM WILL STAY IN PORTLAND. Bet on it. Just don't act like he's already not a Blazer. You're overreacting.

Have you read the info that Batum's agent was upset?he said that he's going to look the other 29 teams first before they look to the Blazers' proposal.

That's what I'm saying! Batum's agent is the problem. He's interested in $$$ (the more Batum gets, the more he gets?), not what is best for Batum. Unfortunately for him, that's not how being a restricted free agent works. Any offers the agent might get from other teams, Portland can match to keep Batum. So when it comes down to it, it's going to be about Paul Allen signing the check, and for Batum, he will.

The real problem is this coach, he undervalues Batum and isn't playing him like he should.  Batum needs more minutes that's a fact.  I said take Nate's money and give it to Batum and lets find a better coach.  This one coach can't seem to get more than a 500 season and he can't get us past the first round.  Let him go, he's killing us.

sign Iggy for 8-9M, Batum at the two, and Wesley off the bench! Draft Steven Adams (who loves contact, grew up playing rug-bee). Sounds NICE!

Im not impressed with Gortat. Everyone wants him but he seems mediorcre to me. He is the most realistic option since all it would take is the 10th pick, but I think he is old and declining.
