Trail Blazers (5-2) vs. Cavaliers (4-3)

The Trail Blazers look to rebound to continue their home dominance as they welcome the up and coming Cleveland Cavaliers to the Rose City. This will be the one and only time the two teams will meet one another during the regular season due to the shortened 66-game schedule. This will be the third game of a seven-game road swing for the Cavs who started the trip off with a loss in Toronto but followed that up with a surprising win over the Timberwolves.

The straw that stirs Cleveland's drink is No. 1 overall pick, Kyrie Irving. The Duke product who played just 11 games as a Blue Devil has produced 14.2 points, 5.3 assists, and 3.7 rebounds through six games. The Trail Blazers can throw out a ton of defenders Irving's way, giving him multiple looks in hopes of disrupting his rhythm. Felton had an off night against Steve Nash, but look for Ray to show the youngster a thing or to, especially on the fast break.

The Cavaliers also love to shoot it from downtown, connecting on over 40% of their trifectas. Portland was very late closing out on shooters against the Suns and must turn up the defensive intensity if they want to thwart the Cleveland aerial assault. I could throw out more stats, but what this game really comes down to is energy, passion, and focus. If Portland treats this game as they did the Lakers, big win. But if they take the same mental approach they did against the Suns, it could be a fight to the finish.

How do you guys see this one ending?

Get Gerald involved early, which I think he will. Plus pound it inside and don't take too many 3s.

The Cavs bring in a winning record. They have been playing good basketball, so it limits the amount of smack talk I can say. So I'll keep it simple... Those jerseys are NASTY Cleveland! Did you guys have to borrow some duds from a local middle school or something? I mean, NBA attire is supposed to be at least a little flashy...right?

Looking forward to checking out Cleveland's lottery picks. I agree, get Gerald going early (we are 0-2 when he doesn't score) Work the ball into LMA, backcourt should have a bounce back game. Would love to see more Williams too!

For me, try to give Nicolas Batum more time to show what he can do. He played well against Phoenix compared to others as he had two blocks, three rebounds and twelve points. It's going to be better if Jamal Crawford knows when he should shoot and when he should give the ball to his teammate.

The Blazers also need to work more on their defense. Try to get more rebounds so there won't be any second chance shooting for the Cleveland.

    1. For one thing put Smith on him, they know each other pretty well and should

      nulify each other.
    2. Next thing is play BB for for 48 minutes and take the

      game serious.
    3. Remember all wins are important in a shorter season.

I enjoy when the Blazers showboat alittle I hope they win the game but showoff alittle and maybe throwdown some dunks and jack up some threes,It'd be nice to see Nolan Smith throw down another dunk and maybe flex alittle after, that'd be good, our team needs to step up the showboating and not be soo humble

Clevelands good but they aren't the Portland Trail Blazers.

I say tonights X-Factor is Batum.  Batum seems to be remaining consistent, but hasn't had a breakout game.

For a second there, I thought the Blazers were playing against the 1987 Arizona State Sun Devils.

C'mon Cleveland, you can't win too many games trying to ugly people out with your jerseys!

We were definitely sleep walking through the first-half, but woke up mid-way through the third. LA was a beast as usual, but I fear that if we continue to struggle from the outside, teams will continue to do what the Suns did and just pack the paint, essentially taking LaMarcus out of the game.

How can you have a breakout game if you're sitting on the bench, or playing with Crawford who refuses to pass you the ball.  Nic has been playing great defense but, you don't see it in the stats because he doesn't play enough minutes.  Keep Crawford on the bench unless we need him in the fourth, he completely destroys our rhythm.

I could not agree more... I think Nate made a great choice of rotating all the players tonight.

I agree with sealer legion. Good rotation. It's very intensive season and all players must play if it's only possible. I'm sure that Nate is good man on the good place and he know what he's doing.
Good second half tonight. Like said Marcus Camby Wes was awesome tonight. And of course LA and GW3 (perfect defense - what a block!!)
Maybe % for 3 isn't perfect in last two game (only Wes was good tonight), but I'm sure that will be no problem in future.
Next two game at home should we win, and next 6 aways... what will happen there?

Nah uhhh a defensive center, a backup big either position I don''t care, an experienced wing, without having to give up any draft picks. I''d probably do this but I just don''t know for sure.

I completely agree he could be that voice on the court we need. Lamarcus just isn''t that guy and Damian can learn some on court leadership from him. A small lineup when we need a score bad of Dame, Wes, Paul, Nic, and Lamarcus would be potent.
