Where Does Portland's Frontcourt Rank In The NBA?
    First (2)
     5%
    Top Three (15)
     36%
    Top Five (18)
     43%
    Top Ten (7)
     17%

Marcus Camby isn’t who he once was. You might not have noticed, but he averaged a pathetic 4.7 points a night last year. For most players, that’s a major red flag. For Camby, it’s only a minor mole. Offensively, he’s awful. And while his numbers dropped on the other end as well last season, that was more simply a case of less PT. In 26 minutes a night, Camby still averaged 10.3 rebounds and 1.6 blocks a game. Also, because Camby shoots so many jumpers, it allows Gerald Wallace to play closer to the rim. In 23 games with Portland last year, Wallace’s numbers jumped off the board. He was back to averaging nearly three combined blocks and steals a game, and his shooting percentage skyrocketed all the way to 50.

Other teams in the Top 5 are the Indiana Pacers (#5), Chicago Bulls (#3), Memphis Grizzlies (#2) and New York Knicks (#1). Besides Memphis, Portland is the only team represented from the Western Conference and is the only squad listed from the NorthWest Division.

I personally, don't think we should be listed higher than the Grizzlies (Zach Randolph, Marc Gasol, Rudy Gay, Darrell Arthur) or the Knicks (Amare Stoudemire, Tyson Chandler, Carmelo Anthony), but I would argue our frontcourt of LaMarcus Aldridge, Marcus Camby, Nicolas Batum and Gerald Wallace is more productive and feared by the rest of the league than that of Chicago's (Joakim Noah, Taj Gibson, Carlos Boozer, Luol Deng).

What do you think? Did Dime Magazine get it right? Are you just happy we got Top 5 or do you think the rating could have been a little higher?

true chicagos front line isnt that great even the pacers granger west and ribbert are stronger, i know everyone is gona disagree but you forget pacers took chicago to the brink if is wasnt fro rose a guard for the clutch shots they would have been defeated.... but it should go knicks memphis portland pacers then chicago taj gibson always in trade talks luol deng while good hasnt been as good in the last two seasons noah while good during the euro games seemed a step too slow and boozer while strong and talented west and LA serve a better threat overall the only issue is the age of camby or he'd beat out marc gasol and chandler

This will remain to be seen as to the ranking, but I think we have a chance to out shine some front courts that may look better on paper.  We have a unit that is all on the same page and hungry.  They fit together well and compliment each other and can rotate and effectively achieve what is needed on either end of the floor.  With the exception of some inexperience or age factors on individual C/F backup roles, I think we will be effective.
Watch out, this team is acting like a team and that is more dangerous than having a couple superstars.

I agree DHawes22, I think we are better than Chicago. Still, nice to get at least a little respect from somebody outside of Portland for ANYTHING, lol
I am a fan of a new era of Trail Blazer basketball!!

Just think if we also had a Oden on that front court ... that's scary

There's really no excitement to this. It's more "we have one of the least crummy frontcourts." If anyone actually had a decent frontcourt in the NBA, we wouldn't be contending (at least not without Oden). We have some great players in the front court. We actually have some great players in all the positions. But this is ignoring the fact that Wallace actually plays more fast break and perimeter offense than posting up. And some of the rankings must be putting serious weight on some of the twitter/trade drama that's happened; last time I checked, everyone was still calling Howard the best center in the league, and LAL still has the two 7-foot beasts that are Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum. LaMarcus is really showing that he can own the inside, and Camby is still a defensive presence. But I still say that our front court is not where is should be. Lucky for us, nobody else's is either. Also, what I said about Wallace applies across the league. The 3 is no longer part of the front court, the Small Forward has effectively become the "Big Guard"

Yeah, he was tripping with that Scottie Pippen reference. Nowhere as good as him, BUUUTTT, I think he can be, if he plays like a man. In Euroleague, you are taught more about finesse, and the fundamentals. He needs to put a little more muscle on, ...

I think what Stotts is doing is superb. His plays are great. I remember the only play he ever called for Meyers Leonard, against the Bobcats. Great movement, got LMA a good mid range look, got Batum a decent three look and the got Meyers way down ...
