Can anyone explain why we traded Sergio, the 38th, and cash for the 31st when the guy we select, Pendegraph, wasn't supposed to go until the 42nd pick. I feel like we could have used Sergio a little better than that. I feel like KP just Pritchslapped himself....

My guess is that Pritchard wanted Claver at 31, but based off what was happening had to take him at 22 and was stuck with that open pick. Either way it is a non-guaranteed contract and they probably won't make the roster for Portland. The only way he makes the team is if Freeland is a flop and gets beat out by Pendergraph. The money will be used to lure another player, like Kidd, to come to Portland.

I'll miss Sergio a little. It's nice that Bayless won't have competition for his spot. Bayless is so fast and a good fit for our team, I'm glad we kept him. I just hope he'll get more minutes this year. As far as this draft, I don't really understand what's going to happen. I'm hoping they can make the Hinrich idea work. This was a rumor, but it would be nice if that's what really happened. As least we know there's no possible way of getting Rondo.

The draft was so boring this year... Boo.

If you think this draft was boring, check out the YouTubes on Victor Claver. I think you might start changing your story. The guy is a PF version of Rudy FREAKING Fernandez! Not quite the distance shooter, but bigger and more effective in the paint. He has crazy ball handling, especially for a big man. He can hit the three, contested, and can finish after the foul. I think he is stronger than he is being given credit for. I look forward to seeing what he can bring in two years. The dude is a PIMP, and a STEAL at 22. Way to go KP!

I like this progress. It would suck to miss out on Pendergrap since he's likely a solid backup at PF. We picked up 2 nice players in  Pendergraph and Claver. Claver will bring more to the table than expected but I think we have to work on his size. Offloading Sergio's contract is also nice since Bayless has to be more involved this year. Now I'm more anxious about the FA.

I just hope we don't get turkey glue, hinrich, andre miller, or gerald wallace. Surely i would be majorly disappointed if we signed turkey glue...

I'm so pleased we got Claver. I genuinely think he's going to be immense. I also think Pendergraph was a nice pick up. I saw him quite a few times for Arizona State and he's a good player. I really think we've picked up two very good players there for the picks that we had. I'm a little bit gutted that Sergio has gone but I always he was going to be one of the first out the door this close season. Bit surprised in the circumstances but very happy with how we did in the draft. Even watching the workouts, it was always going to be a bit of a strange draft because of last season. Mood? Pleased to smiling

we will have a BETTER spanish armada. but the only thing is i dont think rudy can play for us for too long. he is worthy of being a starter and there is no way he would start over B ROY. he wont be satisfied coming off the bench his whole career, or atleast thats what the spanish media is saying. Im glad sergio is gone because of his unorthadox play, but i hope rudy will be a career blazer, starter or not.

I don't know. I think the hardest thing to get past is that Portland isn't like most places where you have an A team and a B team. They have Black team and White team and the only difference is one is in at tip off. The rest of the game you NEVER see that same lineup again. Infact, Batum (the starting SF last year) saw FEWER minutes than Rudy and Outlaw. So I think as fans we need to get away from talking about starters Vs. backups and start talking about Black team Vs. White team. We need to adopt that philosophy so it makes it easier for him to as well. Hopefully that will allow him to stay here in Portland longer.

Rudy could always start at SF! What do you all think of that idea?

No, I still like Martel at that starting SF spot. Plus what would actually happen would Rudy would be a spot up 2 and Brandon would slip to a Point Small Forward position like Turkaglu was for Orlando, and Pippen was here in Portland.

Yea, Martell was slated to be the starter at the SF at the beginning of this past season, so I believe just based on that and his obviously increased and improved work ethic that he should at least get the first dibs on the spot and also be allowed ample time to earn the keeping of that spot. With that said it is at least a little interesting of starting Rudy at the spot but I think not.

sign Iggy for 8-9M, Batum at the two, and Wesley off the bench! Draft Steven Adams (who loves contact, grew up playing rug-bee). Sounds NICE!

Im not impressed with Gortat. Everyone wants him but he seems mediorcre to me. He is the most realistic option since all it would take is the 10th pick, but I think he is old and declining.
