ESPN is reporting Dwight Howard could be sent to the Nets in a 3 team deal involving Portland

Sources told ESPN.com that the most active proposal discussed by the teams would make Portland Trail Blazers swingman Gerald Wallace and Nets center Brook Lopez two of the main pieces Orlando would receive in exchange for Howard.

As part of such a trade, which could be expanded to include a fourth team, sources say Orlando also would shed the long-term contracts of Hedo Turkoglu and Chris Duhon -- both would be absorbed by the Nets -- while also potentially receiving future draft considerations.

Portland please do not trade Gerald for picks, I have a feeling he is going to have a great year of basketball, we have plenty of young talent, we need to keep our veterans.

    Here is Sam Amicks's report-
The deal would send Howard, small forward Hedo Turkoglu and point guard Chris Duhon to the Nets, with Blazers small forward Gerald Wallace, Nets centers Brook Lopez and Johan Petro and possibly a first-round draft pick going to the Magic, and numerous first-round draft picks going to Portland. ESPN.com first reported Portland's involvement, and numerous outlets have indicated that a fourth team may be pulled in to the talks as well.

I kind of like it, we get a lot of draft picks, that could turn into players down the road. Sure we will miss Crash and he probably is headed for the best season of his career, but given the numerous picks, which is likely 4 or so 1st rounders, it would be hard not to try to work it out.

I'd love for them to keep GW, but I'm curious as to how high in the draft these potential picks are. I can imagine that with Roy retiring, the continuing set-backs with Oden, and only one more year of certainty that he'd be in Portland when healthy, that they might be looking to the possibility of attaining some new Roy level talent via draft, since we obviously have a hard time pulling in all-stars through free agency and trades.

I call bull. It just doesn't make sense. We just picked up a veteran big and gained some young upcoming talent in Smith, Williams, and CJohnson. On top of that, just prior we grabbed a new PG who has had a history with Wallace! There is no logical reason at all that we would give up Gerald for no immediate gain when we've been making all these other moves to bring immediate strength to our lineup. You'd have to be extreeeemely dumb if you're gonna try and pull the team in such opposite directions.

This has gotta be a rumor.

But if not, and someone in the front office is actually even thinking about considering this... DON'T YOU DARE MAKE THAT TRADE!!! BAD IDEA! FANS WILL HATE YOU!!!

You know, if this trade actually happens, I'm not saying that it will, but if it happens, this is going to be EXACTLY like what happened when we got Crash from Charlotte last season.

Why not? We have no chance of winning a ring, let alone getting out of the first round as it is, so why try? Trade away. Maybe we can get some good knees out of the deal.

I am a fan of perpetual rebuilding of this team and never winning anything for the insane amount of fan support generated by this city.

It is not about winning, it is about either trading players who go off to be superstars on other teams, or inflicting career ending injuries on the superstars we have.

Sam Amick is reporting the Trail Blazers stood to gain 4 first round picks-
first reported Howard talks ending, and second source confirms now. Being told Portland stood to gain 4 first-rounders in deal.

We already have no Roy.  If we get rid of Gerald for some picks I'm not going to watch this year nor will I even care anymore.  This sounds like a horrible trade.

Right. Because we all know how well the Blazers draft.

DON'T DO IT. We have talent with GW, why risk that for potential Luke Babbits in the future?

glad to hear the trade talk ending. Crash is my favorite blazer on the roster right now, the guy is a beast. I love the team we have now, I am very happy with it, I really think we can go deep into the playoffs with this group if Lamarcus and wallace stay healthy. If Landry and Jamal join in this uprise Im all for it!

The bad news keeps on rolling in.  Why do we always get rid of guys with experience?  Always planning for two years down the road?  This sucks.  Blazers fans want to win this year!!!! Keep the Man Child GW!!

The first round picks are going to be from NJ and Orlando. Both teams should do pretty well next year. You people want to trade Wallace(or the Idiot ^^^ who would trade Aldridge wow)for 4 picks between 20-30. Sad. I am so glad we didn't do this deal.

Speaking of Babbitt, wrap him,Armon,Patty, and Barron in a nice little croissant and ship them to Jersey for two picks. To move the Beast would be ridiculous.

Our starting five is insane right now.

idk why people don't see that 4 1ST ROUND PICKS, not 1 or 2, but FOUR picks, is well worth more than GW. i got great respect to him and his game, but this would have been enormous. don't just see draft picks as draft picks. they are the biggest trade assets these days. you guys all remember how we got GW? Joel, Dante and only ONE first round pick. imagine what you could have done with four...

the only reason i think they were considering this is cause the three spot is pretty deep on are team when you put babbit the conversation and yes wallace is great but 4 first rounders and two of them from orlando(who aren't going to be good with out dwight howard)thats a really good trade for a 29year old SF

Not sure if the deal is going through or not but with 4 1st round picks even if they are at the 20 -30 slot should be able to trade WAY up to get possibly in the top 5 pick. On the other side of the coin Batum had more of a presance in the play-offs than GW IMO so I think this is a better deal. As far as the season goes with Oden out and Roy gone what really made anyone feel our chances at a ring were even possible this season? I think that this was a good move. With the Clunkers getting Paul and having Griffinstien it seems unlikely that we can compete in the west with what we have.

why does everyone claim clippers as the team to beat now? the addition of chris paul isn't that amazing. chris paul didn't win any championships last year by himself? they have 2 players, they got rid of all their other talent in the trade. sure there will be some sweet lobs but come playoff time the defense will shut it down just like dallas did to our lobs to aldridge last year. i'd take our stacked roster with a mixture of great talent and fresh young guys off the bench over 2 guys any day. the heat got 3 monter players and still couldn't win it. it takes a team and a good bench, especially with this compacted season.
