I will always remember meeting Brandon at Martell Webster's birthday party two years ago in Portland.  He was kind enough to talk to me for a few minutes one on one about the possibility of collabing on some video work for his charity.  Talking to him was like talking to any Portlander on the street, he had a sense of character unlike any other public figure I've encountered.  Brandon you were a game changer, Rip City will never forget what you did to this town.

Brandon, you brought hope to every single fan here in Portland when we drafted you. I've been a fan since your days at UW and hoped we would have the opportunity to draft such a talented player. We got that opportunity and I would never take that moment back.We all knew the potential was oozing out of the seems and couldn't wait for the moment when it would burst. That potential was still sky high when we heard the devastating news I was at the game against the Mavericks. I still replay that 4th quarter in my head almost everyday and I will never forget that night. Ever. You brought a smile to our faces every time you walked on the court, no matter how injured you were. All Blazer fans will remember the greatness you brought to this organization, your amazing moments, your selfless moments, your amazing smile and optimism no matter who we were playing, no matter how far we may have been down. We all hope to see you involved in the organization in the future. We are all your number one fans. Peace and blessings to you and your family

Brandon, I hope you read this. Thank you for everything man. You're a top 5 all-time Blazer in my book, and your jersey should definitely be hanging on the rafters. Your unique blend of talent, and your positive affect on so many off of the court made you something very, very special. The state of Oregon loves you and thanks you for the work you put in. I sincerely hope that you can join the team in some way, shape, or form in the future as an assistant coach or something along those lines. You would be perfect for the job. Stay healthy, and many blessings to your family in the future. We are all rooting for you buddy. THANKYOU!

Brandon solidified my love for the Blazers.

My favorite memory is probably the Houston OT game winner. It represented the feeling that I had where Brandon could do no wrong, and that if there was any time left, the other team didn't stand a chance. It was a foregone conclusion that Brandon would save the day with his superhuman abilities. This theory was then confirmed time and time again.

Brandon is and always will be a Portland sports hero. I'm sad to see him go, but I respect him and his decision.

Brandon Roy, Thank you for putting on a great show and always staying humble no matter what the situation was,
your positiveness was the greatest and no one will ever replace you, I'm gonna miss when my heart would stop at the last few seconds of
the game & overtimes, your buzzer beaters, game winners, and shots, When the crowd would get so wild because of your shot to tie the score, the day when you made your highest scoring points w/ 52 against Phoenix, helping blazers with your comeback making us win with your 18 points in the 4th quarter. There will never be another BRANDON R.O.Y, You are and always will be my favorite basketball player in the industry and i hope they retire your jersey, because you
deserve to be up with the rest of the legends. You are a big help for Portland, and we can't thank you enough. <3
Stay healthy and never forget your fans. We love you!

Thank you so much for everything you have done for the Trail Blazers and for everything you have done for the community while a Trail Blazer.  You are an amazing athlete and a great person.  The leadership and sportsmanship will be greatly missed.  I admire though the decision to take care of yourself so that you can be there for your family.  Good luck with everything.

I'm sure this decision had to be difficult. Of course we will miss your presence on the court. However, you have made a significant contribution to the Blazers and have helped bring the team back. I support and applaud your decision. Thank you for all your contributions - both on and off the court!

It can't be overstated, Brandon.  You made this city fall in love with basketball again.  I will mourn for your loss, and for the city's loss, because a talent and a hunger and a heart like yours comes around only once in a generation.  But I will be forever grateful for what you gave to us.  You are, and always will be, ours.

You have been an amazing asset to this Blazer team. I have been a Blazer fan since I was 5 or so and a native Oregonian as well. You have made this team a great team to watch much like the Clyde Drexler and Terry Porter days. You will be sorely missed by all of us. I wish you the best of luck outside of playing professional basketball. God Bless.

The Houston comeback!  Possibly the biggest rush of emotion I have ever felt in a sporting event.  Except for when my Bills came back and beat the Oilers many years ago.  But man.  Brandon.  You need to know how wonderful you are and what you mean to Portland and the Blazers.  That shot you hit at the buzzer from damn half court to win ... man.  OMG ... just amazing.

    Thank you Brandon.

Brandon, I am not sure i have words to describe how much you mean to the city of Portland and to me. You are as classy as an Athlete gets, role model, gentleman, winner, believer, leader, Mr. Dependable, Natural, Passionate, Caring, Team player, talented, performer and much much more. I will promise this, i will definitely tell your story to my 7 month old son and tell him that you should be as gentleman as you even if god has not given you as much talent. You the most exemplary person i can think of. Everybody can be successful but nobody can carry the success along with them as well as you do and i definitely mean NOBODY. I salute to you and I thank you.

Brandon, not only are you my favorite Blazer of all time (and I've been a fan going on 27 years now), but you helped introduce Blazer Basketball to my two sons, now 5 and 3.  We watched every game -- whether in person, or on TV -- together, and my boys would chant "Bran-don Ro-oy" the way everyone does it in the arena.  I know they will be Blazer fans for life, just like myself.  Thank you SO MUCH for all you have given us.  Now, enjoy being a parent to your two little ones -- if there's a silver lining in any of this, its that you now get to be around for every Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year, Valentine's Day, etc.  Enjoy your family, and I truly hope you continue to be an ambassador of the team -- we would love to see you around.  Thank you!!

Brandon, you brought respect back to our beloved Blazers and with your talent and will pushed our current team in the right direction of improving on the court and going further into the playoffs while still being model citizens in the community. You may be retired, but your a BLAZER FOR LIFE! Thanks for giving us fans something to be proud of. You truly gave us ALL YOU HAD.

He and LaMarcus Aldridge were the reasons I became a TrailBlazer fan again. Brandon showed heart and skill. He quickly became one of my favorite players of all time. I bought his jerseys and played in them as a tribute to this great player. The NBA won't be the same without him.

Hate to see you leave, man. You truly are one of the greats. You will be missed. Thank you for inspiring me. I try to play the game the same way you do.

Thank you for everything Brandon. Whether it was good for your body or not, you always put the team ahead of your own well being. You carried us out of the darkest era in franchise history. For five years, you were the face of the franchise and what a star we had. A great person both on and off the court who deflected the praise to his teammates at any time instead of pumping his own chest out. We were lucky to have you in Portland for five years. While some may call your time short, it's better than never have witnessed all of the memories you brought to us. I'll never forget being in the arena prior to Game 4 against Phoenix. Seeing you suited up brought chills to me and the 20,000 other fans in the RG that afternoon. As soon as you jogged out for warmups, the crowd erupted. 8 days after surgery? No problem for Brandon Roy. It's a shame your career got cut short but you made the right call. Enjoy your time with your family Brandon! Once a Trail Blazers, always a Trail Blazer.

There's a lot to thank to Brandon for. He took this franchise from a terrible era and led the way as it turned into a solid organization. It's very sad to see him lose both knees to injuries at this early age. He would have been remembered as one of the best by the entire basketball world. He should remain in the club

Brandon was the BIG reason the Blazermania and Rip City returned to Portland.

I was at the Houston game way up top in the nosebleeds, watching the ball drop from the sky and screaming my head off as it swished through the net.

I was at Game 4 against Dallas last season and will always treasure being witness to one of the greatest performances ever in Blazer history and NBA history.

There are so many memories of Brandon in a Blazer uniform. It's a shame it had to end this way, but to me, despite him playing just five seasons, he will always be remembered as one of the greatest players this team ever had.

Twenty years from now, we'll all be remembered as the lucky fans that got to see B-Roy play his best ball for us, win R.O.Y. and become a three-time All-Star. He was as good as they come and was the perfect superstar for Portland -- didn't need the glitz and glamour, and didn't have the ego like many 'stars' today. He perfectly represented this community and what being a Trail Blazer was all about.

Thanks Brandon for everything. I hope all of us fans get to show our appreciation for you sometime soon. You deserve it and you were the best.

Brandon was not only the talent you want for your team he was a great person which wasnt always the case of trail blazer players. If only we could of had a few more healthy years he surely would of been one of the top ten of all time! a big thanks for playing with heart and dedication. Brandon,

The thing I admire most in you is your ability to balance your competitiveness, capability, and pride with humility, genuineness, and self-control.  You've proved that being a superstar doesn't require an inflated ego, that having a killer-instinct doesn't need to come at the price of your character, and that having faith in your abilities doesn't necessitate distrust in your teammates.  You've made it easy for us to be a true fans.  I have also appreciated your honesty.  I hope that professional athletes everywhere will follow your exemplary model.  Thank you, Brandon, for being the way you are.

    Dear Brandon Roy,
We Already MISS YOU! ! !  We'd like to THANK YOU for all your wonderful years with us here in Portland Oregon, & being such a STRONG part of the BLAZER team.  We LOVE YOU, & we know there is no one else quite like you.  I remember being at a game once, and when you were introduced, the love & the cheers erupted from the back corridors all the way through to the center of the court.  I've never heard anything like it, it was so loud and solid!  When I looked at your face, you were so humble...it made me proud to have such an elite player on our team who understands Humbleness.  You are such an ace player, coming with such solidness when the pressure's on & making it look easy.  We have grown to love you, & have such immense respect for you!  You are our HERO!!!  I hope & pray that you can still somehow stay with our team, the Blazers.  We NEED YOU!!  Your FORCE of Positivity, your elegance & ease, your LEADERSHIP!  We love you, Brandon, & we wish you only the BEST ALWAYS!!  May everything you do come back to you, all your goodness, all your grace.  There will never be another Brandon Roy, or another player like you!  We MISS YOU Already, but wish you the very best is all that you do.  I hope you stay in Portland, you are so loved here.  You are our HERO! ! !  God Bless You Always : D

With the heart of a lion and the will of a winner, Brandon Roy breathed fire and faith into the sails of the entire Cascadia bioregion.  Because of #7, many dreamed of seeing the Larry O'Brien trophy hoised in Portland once again, and with each crossover and stepback, it seemed inevitable.  We will never forget the buzzer beaters, the 4-point play, the 10 steals against the Wiz, and game 4 is already a legend.  Thanks for the memories, the guts, and the glory.

I watched Brandon play college ball on TV and then as a pro.  The moment I will remember most, is the partial-second three shot that beat Houston after they had celebrated at their bench thinking they had won.  "B-Roy" will be missed but never forgotten.  Best of luck to him and his family as he pursues new challenges in life.

As soon as B-Roy came out onto the court, the whole atmosphere of the Rose Garden would change. You could feel that, being in the crowd. It was super hero like! And I'll never forget his era of Trail Blazers basketball. It's sad that the Roy/Aldridge duo had to be cut off so soon; Brandon's career was taking off and he had so much more potential. Us fans will always have his back. His attributions are respected. We love you Brandon.
