Let me just start out by saying it's great to back on the site, it's been ages. It's great interacting with fellow Blazer maniacs. Pumped for what looks to be another great season in Rip City! But just how great will it be? Initially I thought we were going to miss the playoffs this year. But then I realized, what 8 teams will make it above our beloved Blazers? With that in mind, here are my playoff predictions for the western conference:

    1. Thunder
    2.  Mavericks
    3.  Lakers
    4.  Grizzlies
    5.  Spurs
    6.  Nuggets
    7.  Blazers
    8.  Rockets

Don't call me pessimistic, call me realistic. I've seen serious posts on this site where people say we're gonna be the 2 seed. Let's be real people. We are by no means in the upper tier of teams in the west. But with the prospects of LaMarcus emerging, a solid point guard in his prime, and (hopefully) Greg Oden, we can hang with the big guns of the west.  I see us playing the Mavs again in round 1, and our chances look better this year than last.

As far as record.....I'm thinkin 39-27. Any thoughts?

haha Nuggets wont have JR or K-mart or wilson chandler so they wont make the playoffs.  I also think the grizzlies wont be above them, and the spurs are already old and wont be able to deal with back-to-back-to-backs.  The Blazers team is made for a season like this with the depth they have and I think you could honestly look at a 4 seed

    1. Mavs
    2. Lakers
    3. Thunder
    4. Blazers
    5. Grizzlies
    6. Spurs
    7. Clippers
    8. Rockets

Forgot about the Nuggets not having JR Smith, Wilson Chandler, or Kenyon Martin! Good point! Yeah playoffs seem less likely for them. And as far as our depth....I can't say we have solid depth until I see Nolan Smith, Elliot Williams, Luke Babbitt and Armon Johnson. If they can consistently produce decent numbers then yes, I'd say we have depth. But if not, we'll only have 8 solid players, and that's counting Roy and Oden.

I agree that Denver's out. Not only are they out Smith, Chandler, and Martin. They're probably losing Nene to Indiana. And also remember they still had Carmelo until the trade deadline last year, which certainly didn't hurt their season record. Here's what I see:

    1. Thunder
    2. Mavs
    3. Spurs
    4. Lakers
    5. Grizzlies
    6. Blazers
    7. Suns
    8. Clippers

Yeah but our top 8 is better.  Im not nessecarily talking about the number of solid players we have, Im talking about our depth in our skill set... imagine having Matthews and Batum off the bench

Nate will get them to the playoffs. I anticipate some trades in the league so it's too hard to pickplayoff position. My prediction is this team will find an identity hopefully before February and be in contention for a 5-8 seed if things go at the least neutral with injury and chemistry issues
