It wasn't too long ago that Utah had Portland's number, but after taking three of four from the Jazz last season along with a few major shakeups in Salt Lake City, including the retirement of Jerry Sloan and the trading of franchise point guard Deron Williams, have turned the tables in the Trail Blazers' favor. This season, the preseason is short and sweet with each team getting paired with another team that is close is proximity for a two-game slate.

Will the Trail Blazers treat this preseason any differently than they would have in the past? On one hand training camps are going to be cut short so the more time the starters get with one another the better. But with 66 games being jammed into four months, bodies will become tired quickly so why wear they out for games that don't count?

Who will get the start, Crawford or Matthews? How will Felton look in his Rip City debut? And can our young bench provide scoring? All of these questions will be found out soon enough!

I was excited to go to this game. Especially since the Blazers said ticket prices for this would be extremely low. However, I go on the website and they are as expensive as most regular season games. What's that about?

Agreed. I was ready to buy tix to the first preseason game as soon as they were available, but it's pretty disappointing that prices weren't lowered at all to show some appreciation to the fans. Now i'm hesitating and wondering if preseason is worth it...

I called the Blazers ticket office to see if the prices were correct, because I read this article: http://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/index.ssf/2011/12/locked_in_trail_blazers_begin.html and thought there must be a mistake. Saying the game will be at "absolute bargain prices" and then selling tickets at regular season cost is a complete sham.
Turns out..... they are correct. Great move Blazers. I was ready to jump right back in and start buying tickets. Pretty hesitant now.

WOW. You're right, I called the ticket office asking about the "preseason promotion" and the woman on the phone basically tried to tell me that the 'group ticket rate' (which i believe they offer EVERY year for all the regular season games?) is the 'discounted offer for preseason'... so essentially saying 'No, you will pay the same for these preseason as you would for any regular season game'.

Bad move, Blazer office... discounting the 100 level seats a bit but keeping the 300 level tix the same price is NOT a way to show fans appreciation.

What makes this even worse, is Sarah Mensah is quoted multiple times in the article that Ryan linked, saying things like "It’s very important for us as an organization to make sure we show we understand what it’s been like for fans". Sarah, if your name is attached to this can you PLEASE explain what's going on here? I really want to see the Blazers play but to ask for regular season prices on the first and ONLY preseason game after a lockout is RIDICULOUS. Please tell me there's a mistake here!

Can't believe the first game is already less than a week away. I don't expect a great game as both teams should be rusty and the chemistry won't be there yet. But, I'd like to see how the young players like Nolan, Elliot and Luke look.

Guys, it's supply and demand.   With how much news has been floating around the NBA and the Blazers, people want to go to these games.  As for fan appreciation, there is a fan fest on Friday which is FREE as long as you get tickets from Wells Fargo, which is free.  You don't even need to be a customer there.

As for the game, I say Portland goes 2-0.  Utah is... Udone.

Wesley starts, Felton AND Jamal look great, and Nolan and EWill will do good :) Scoring off the bench? That would be Jamal, maybe Elliot. Do expect to see CJ out there rebounding though!

Williams is makin a strong case for back up PG with the way he has played so far. I was impressed with N.Smith too, but he is gonna take some time to get to the next level.

I like how we got in our offense more quickly and didn't see that stagnant offense we are used to seeing but, LA didn't play and who knows how long it will last before we go back the old ways. the defense was harassing the Jazz 15 steals, I love the new guys I've been a fan of Raymond and he just fits, I'm excited to have Jamal I think he's going to show us that he's more than just A scorer, Kurt is just rock solid he just does what needs to be done I didn't see Craig much but, I know he will get his chance. out of the young guys Elliot Williams was good i see him getting some minutes if he shows the team he more than a dunker I don't see Armon on the team for long and Luke will be right behind him if he doesn't hit that 3pt shot but, he did show some other things Nolan was ok and Chris needs to be n the team because he give us that activity down low and for the regulars it's just another day at the office good team effort all around.

Great Pre-season game :) but the Jazz did cut down the lead back to single diggets ... Witch I did not like; hope it was just the players shaking off the rust and cupcakes they ate in the off season.

They cut the lead when they had primarily their starters on the court vs our backups for the most part (if i am remembering the game correctly). So not much to worry about there, especially since we built the lead right back up!

Rip a cap hold is a number given to free agents. Basically the cap hold is added to the teams salaries at the start of free agency. So for example a team has 10 million in cap space but has 15 million in cap holds they are technically over the sal...

Noel was playing at around 220 so I doubt the added weight will slow him down too much the guy just needs to continue his rehab and hit the weight room and he will be fine.
