    Who should advance?
    #1 Bill Walton (9)
     64%
    #1 Terry Porter (5)
     36%

    FINAL FOUR
#1 Bill Walton vs. #1 Terry Porter

    No. 32 Bill Walton | Center | 6-11 | 225 lbs

    Career Stats As A Trail Blazer: 33.7 mpg, 17.1 ppg, 13.5 rpg, 4.4 apg, 1.0 spg, 2.6 bpg, .510 FG %, .674 FT %

“I’d rather have two healthy years out of Bill Walton than a full career from most anybody else I’ve ever seen since.” Celtics General Manager Red Auerbach on Bill Walton, taken from BlazerMania.

Bill Walton only played in 209 games during his four years with the Trail Blazers – 52nd most all-time. His name can only be found sparingly among the top 10 career leaders – field goal percentage, defensive rebounds, and blocks. And he only appeared in two postseasons. So how exactly did he make it this far? Quality over quanity.  When he was in uniform for Portland, there was arguably no one more dominant than Big Red.  During the title chase of 1977, Walton was brilliant, averaging 18.2 points, 15.2 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1.1 steals, and 3.4 blocks. And no performance in Trail Blazers history was greater than his was in Game Six of the NBA Finals. With only one shot to close it out at home before traveling to Philadelphia for a Game Seven, Bill Walton rose to the occasion, posting 20 points (8-15 FG), 24 rebounds, seven assists, and eight blocks.  The following season Walton only was able to play in 65 of the team’s 82 games, but he still was crowned as the league’s MVP at season’s end due to his body of work; he still remains Portland’s only MVP recipient.

Just as Red Auerbach said, a little Walton is better than a lot of everyone else. He didn’t play much as injuries shortened his career, but without Bill Walton, BlazerMania may have never taken the Rose City by storm.

    Schonely Speaks:
"What more can I say about that guy? The leader of that championship team. Made everybody else on that team much better. He could do it all. And that team, was a team."

    No. 30 Terry Porter | Point Guard | 6-3 | 195

    Career Stats As A Trail Blazer: 31.6 mpg, 14.9 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 7.0 apg, 1.6 spg, 0.1 bpg, .470 FG%, .385 3PT%, .846 FT%

The natural pick for this side of the bracket is Bill Walton. He brought Portland a championship. He has a ring. But before you cast your vote consider this: What makes a player the best? The stats? The ring? Or the night-in and night-out grind accompanied by clutch plays that contributes to defining on of the  greatest eras in Trail Blazers basketball?

As floor general and all-out hustler, Porter made his mark on the Trail Blazers franchise with a ten-season run. Ten playoff appearances, two All-Star games, two trips to NBA finals and a .385 three-point shooting percentage mark his resume. A specialist from behind the arc, the long-ball aspect of TP’s game consistently kept fans enthralled and excited. In my book it doesn’t get any better than draining a clutch bucket from downtown with the pressure on.

As we come down to the end of the bracket it’s time to start weighing the value of each of these talented players to the franchise. Do you go for floor general Porter whose name marks the Portland career leader board 15 times while big-man Walton’s is there only three? Or is about the end game of winning a ring over a decade of successful basketball?

Cast your vote wisely. I’m going with TP and his thrilling tenure in Rip City. He’s the bee’s knees.

    Schonely Speaks:
"With Drexler in the back court and the rest of that team, in the 90's. Much influence, maybe the best back court that this franchise has ever seen."

The polls will stay open for one week. The player with the most votes will move onto the next round. Who should advance in this matchup and why?

Went with Terry Porter, because he's my favorite all-time Blazer. Was Walton more talented? Yes. But he rarely payed. I'm thankful for that one magical run but Porter was apart of something just as special in the early 90s.

I know Bill gave us the ring, but the 90's team was the best Blazer team to watch ever! The thing that stopped them was the greatest player of all time in MJ.. I would want to watch Ainge, Drexler, Porter, Kersey, and Robinson, take on waltons team and see who wins.. My vote is going to be anyone from the 90's team

Walton. And it was a hard decision. I like Porter a lot more as I grew up with his team and actually have seen him play, but the little we got of Walton was just a little bit better than TP imo. The MVP and the performance in Game 6 is simply awesome.

Big Red. This is a bracket for the greatest Trail Blazer, not favorite. Sorry TP.

sign Iggy for 8-9M, Batum at the two, and Wesley off the bench! Draft Steven Adams (who loves contact, grew up playing rug-bee). Sounds NICE!

Im not impressed with Gortat. Everyone wants him but he seems mediorcre to me. He is the most realistic option since all it would take is the 10th pick, but I think he is old and declining.
