Hey guys I want to know whether you think think Brandon Roy or LaMarcus Aldridge is the face of the Trailblazers. In my opinion I still believe Roy is the franchise guy but Aldridge is sneaking up on him and could take the team over at some point this year. Just wondering what you think.

And if you want a little insight to how Roy's season might play out this year:

it's simple yet complex. if roy isn't going to deal with the pain like sabonis did then he needs to change his play style. he needs to stay at the 2guard, you cant have him defending quick point guards. make him a spot up shooter and Lamarcus becomes the play maker. it's like people forget that roy can drill 3 pointers all day. everyone says we need a point guard who can drill 3's. we shouldn't have gotten rid of miller, we should have allowed miller and LA to do their thing and had roy on the perimeter for kick out 3 pointers. he either needs to play through the pain or let LA become the go to offensive guy. it's not that portland doesn't love him, you have to do what you ahve to do sometimes, it's really roy's decision. I personally think aldridge could snag a double team and roy could hit open 3's all game long without driving in and hurting those knees.

Yeah I always wondered why the Blazers didn't play those two on the same side last year for that exact reason. I hope Roy gets another chance to play a season though. Everyone is pointing toward the amnesty clause. I hope that won't be the case.

interesting question. it's hard to pick between the two. Brandon has been the face of the franchise since his rookie year. however, given that LaMarcus is on twitter talking to fans and such, i think he's taking over that. i'm not inclined to name one over the other as the face of the franchise. i think at this point, both could be referred to that way.

I see the amnesty clause coming into effect and Roy signed for less as an assistant coach/player in this way he can still be the face of the franchise and Lamarcus can lead through scoring, rebounding and defending then concentrate on playing ball with a little less spotlight.

This debate will be a short-lived one, as Roy's days in scarlet red, black and white are now numbered and likely over.  This is LaMarcus' team now and has been since last season, good or bad, popular or not.

i hear a lot of talk of the amnesty clause. while it could be included, it's not a guarantee that it will be. either way, it's unlikely it will be exercised against Brandon in the first year. the bottom line is that Paul Allen likes Brandon, and will more-than-likely have him back for another year. any talk of releasing him by using a possible amnesty clause is extremely premature.

This is my take on it.

Roy had double knee surgery in his knee to fix the problem of no meniscus (spelling?).

He's had several interviews and stated several times both of his knees are "pain free" and he feels "100%". This is coming from a guy who is dead honest in all of his interviews. He'll tell you if he's in pain, he'll tell you if he wants more minutes, he'll let his voice be heard. Roy is pain free, ready to lock and load. Roy and Aldridge, 1-2 punch.

At the risk of being too critical, I would question whether a player's being a primary scorer equates to his being the "face the of the franchise" in the first place, as I don't believe the two are synonymous.  LaMarcus Aldridge has become the focal point of the Blazers' offense, a transition necessitated both by Brandon Roy's absence and the continued development of Aldridge as a basketball player.  Even if Roy is healthy to begin the upcoming season, it is possible that the on-court "pecking order" between the two players may not be the same as in years past.  Aldridge is a different player: Roy's presence will not reverse the changes of this past season.

Does this mean that Aldridge is the face of the Portland Trail Blazers?  It's possible, though there are examples involving other NBA teams in which the player whom fans most readily associate with their favorite team is not necessarily that team's best player.  Were a poll conducted amongst Spurs fans, it's likely that Tim Duncan would rank as the player whom fans most closely associate with the Spurs, even though he's no longer their most important player.  The same may be said of the Miami Heat, where the question of whether LeBron James or Dwayne Wade is the face of the Heat remains up for debate.

Roy is a beast who brought back the "Rip" in Rip city. When the rock leaves Roys hands you know its going in. If it doesnt, i blame it on the basket moving. Its like a knock-out artist... You never lose the the ability to knock people out,you just take more punishment in setting up the shot. But if he makes contact with that chin, Sleepy Time.

thank you! i completely agree. roy is still perfectly able to be an important role player. he still has the ability to take over games. so the offense isnt going to be run through brandon. is it really so serious that its all people have been talking about? who should we worship? roy or aldridge? really?

    I''d trade for Asik.

Sanders better shotblocker, better dunker and around the rim, Asik better defensively. I think Asik will have the better career.

Paul Allen might sell the Blazers but the Blazers will never leave Rip City.
