i came across this little morsel of information this evening, which seems alarming if true. according to Alex Kennedy of Hoopsworld.com. the report was also featured on iamagm.com involving a comment from san antonio spurs owner Peter Holt. he apparently made the comment to members of the players union's negotiating team:

"You haven't felt enough pain yet."

    Kennedy tweeted:

are the league/owners being straight-forward with players and fans?

note that when i say owners, i'm not saying every owner necessarily feels this way, but i think these are some pretty choice comments from one of them.

Special it is to be a Blazer fan. All our rain soaked months, we get to watch the best basketball players in the world duke it out on our turf. Only a select few city's have such a fabulous luxury. Our isolated fan base is without a doubt the strongest in the NBA. But even though we are the loudest, we are still a small town compared to the rest of the league.

Trailblazers owner did something during the negotiations today that should make us all proud, he fought off some bullies and stood up for the rest of the league's little guys today.

Who the player's union is truly trying to protect is not the little guy, not the future of the NBA.

Picture this... our boy Chris Johnson. Busted his tail in the D-League most the season (because Rich Cho was cheap and wouldn't call him up earlier). Now he finally gets on the Blazers late in the season, and makes his mark during a big playoff win guarding Dirk Nabisco. So during this non exsistant Summer League, He'd be fighting for a contract, maybe a 1 year deal with P-Town. That's a great thing for the young man, and it's gone now. So is the contracts for all the other Chris Johnson's throughout the NBA. Those are the little guys that the Billy Hunter's Laker friendly Player's Union is supposted to be standing up for. Instead we the union even suggesting in post meeting comments that they are there as P.R. representitives for the Laker's, Heat, Mavs, and Knicks (even though the Knicks are still gonna stink cuz we got their best guard..hee hee!)

100% behind the owners.  With 90% of working age Americans either finding themselves unemployed or taking a pay cut, isn't it ludicrous for players to not be willing to concede also?  Instead, they are negotiating for pay increases.  In this down economy, not sure who they believe will be supporting them moving forward if ticket, concession, and memorabilia prices continue to climb in order to accomodate their already ridiculous lifestyles.  As I've stated here recently, the players provide us, their fans, with a purely recreational product...a non-essential to be sure.  Why is it then that they live in luxury while those that provide a necessity, those in agriculture, fight daily to avoid foreclosure on their farms and live very modestly?   Disposable income for the average fan is quickly becoming a thing of the past.  Tuna and peanut butter sales are thru the roof.  Wake up fellas.

No sympathy.   You play a game for a living.  Try working.

In business, sadly very few parties are straight forward and completely honest. Half truths and vague answers are the norm.
