Greg Oden and Brandon Roy will have a lot more time to heal.  Even though we will be without basketball for awhile, we will be Healthy when we come back!

Dwight Jaynes brought up a good point on Talkin' Ball, suggesting that when the last NBA strike occured, we had a shortened season. The NBA scrunched 50 games into a short time frame, and teams had to play back to back to backers. Playing 3 games in a row can't be good for sore knees.

I think the union needs to be broke and some concessions need to be given back. From what I've read and hear anywhere between 12 to 22 teams are losing money right now. I think it is closer to 12 than 22 but still that means playoff teams are losing money. Players get 60% of the revenue and Owners get 40%. Players have no overhead, owners have all the overhead and most of the risks are taken by the owners.
I do not want a shortened season but I also do not want to see any teams leave. The players are going to have to take a cut in pay and submit to a salary cap. Unless you just want to see the Lakers and the Celtics all the time with the Bulls and the Knicks getting lottery picks.

The players deserve the higher percentage of the cut since they are the ones doing the work in this league. The owners could turn a profit if they weren't stupid in the amount of money they are offering mid level players. I think it is completely insane for the owners to complain about wanting guaranteed projected percentages of the profit. If they want to be profitable they must look to being better managing owners.

I'm totally sidin' with the owners here. Players salaries are proposterously high, and fewer and fewer fans can afford 8 dolla sodas and 20 dolla parking.

The Owners make money.  Owners are hiding funds just like all multi millionares do.  If you think for a second they're losing money, think again!  Owner are so one way that even the people they hire never say no to them.  ALL YOU HEAR FROM THEM IS, IT'S A BUSINESS.So! when a player uses his head and goes to South Beach the owner crys like a baby! becomes a victim!  and begins to wet himself at night.  I will always be for the players.  They are the ones getting injuryed.  None of our jobs have an injury rate as high as pro sports.  The NBA is what it is because of the players. Don't Hate The Players!  (  They get traded with little or know notice).  Have to move their families to an entirely new State, and act like everything is ok, because it's a business.  Players will someday thank those  player that saw a chance to breakaway from stuckup owners and go to a team where they can win a championship!  I say Players take charge and over run the owners that refuse to spend money to try and win a championship!

Now that I've said all that!  None of it hold water!  I'm just mad because I feel like something has been stolen from me!  Forgive me for my rant!!

    the systems work.
    Its the PEOPLE THAT SUCK!!!!
i mean even with the recession going on and all of those problems, it comes down to a select few, the minorities of the group that just refuse to part with their money. they cant leave that cash flow.

For basketball i have mixed emotions, like yea i get that some of these guys have come from just unbelievable up comings and maybe never had  "extra money" in their life, but does that really mean you can terrorize and potentially ruin the league, the sport for everyone else?

I mean some of these guys have already made more money than they will ever be able to spend.
Like i feel as if joe johnson could be potentially a huge problem for the NBA, similar to Albert Haynesworth
     to the NFL.

i dont personally believe that a small market team cannot win big, thats just bs for small market teams to receive underdog cards effortlessly....

The owners currently have the ____ end of the stick, as far as the split goes currently its like 57% - 43% or close to that. And really no one is looking at the humanistic qualities that go ignored in this whole mess, it is literally all about money.
Like the owners go after the players you know, saying " hey i like your game, i want you to play for me" and instead of the player feeling just ecstatic its like " okay, but i want this much cash and not a penny less or ill go play for that guy ----->"

whats really interesting is that these are adults, on both sides, running their businesses and playing professional sports, and yet the entire situation is about as childish as can be. it has an easily solution but none of these guys are willing to put it back in their pants and zip em up, its a huge pissing contest, and the prize for whoever wins.....is you get covered in piss...... hahah

The owners should not shoulder all of the blame that the agreement could not be reached and the players also should not shoulder all of it either.  If the two sides can be honest about what they are trying to accomplish in the negotiations and can lay out the fairness of what is available and what various means they have to accomplish each goups needs then I think they have the framework to solve and move forward.  Get the egos off of the negotiating floor because they will destroy good intentions.

I just think its completely unprofessional and disrespectful  to us fans that a lockout occurred. I am siding with the players but both are rich as hell and whining about money. owners aren't losing money because they wouldn't have it to begin with.(<<<<letting it happen) so that is what bugs me

well it kinda sheds some light on how much the players ( some not all, mainly the overpaid ones ) really care about the fans.......

but the owners are losing money, the nba as a whole, has not been very profitable in the past few years... surprisingly

I think blazers of 1 of 2 teams that would truely benfit from a lockout, roy will get healthy and our team can adjust to the system that felton will create, and truely give him the keys with a year of tweeking plays for his style of play,  and it just makes oden a bigger question mark because teams can request meetings, and if there is no season then he gets healthy he has a chance of going somewhere else, elsewhere in the nba boston will get worse, and the lakers will blow up there team, they do not want a lockout

I agree.  Boston will not have the stamina to play with younger teams.  Lakers I think it is great that Kobe has not said anyting about thier coach selection.  What it shows you is he is pouting as he is learning it is not his team.  Gasol and Kobe will not be able to be on the same team as they do not trust each other.  I do not blame Gasol as who can Trust Kobe period?

The united States justice system can trust Kobe.....or at least they believe him....hah.

Nah, in L.A. the lakers just cant wait to get moving onto next season, regardless of whether or not they make a "big" summer trade, the fact that they have a defensively focused coach, who won a ring with two other "really tall" players, i think they are going to surprise alot of people.
As far as Kobe and Pau trusting each other, idk what thats about, because they last time they won he basically split the finals MvP award with him.....

and you guys are trippin on Boston, they are still full of steam. wtih rondo staying in the top 5 pg's. Ray Ray with the record breaking. J O Neal coming back. Jeff Green and their other 3ball guys still a threat. Paul Pierce as always. its only garnett, and he dont go down easily....
