What's going on with this pick? I was under the impression we owned the rights to the 57th pick in the draft via Dallas. this true or was I a lil too buzzed?...

We did get pick #57 from Dallas and they got one of our 2007 Euros that we didn't want to bring over. Chad Buchanan said in the press conference that we're looking to trade Ngombo's rights, so Portland doesn't plan on keeping him or even giving him a chance at training camp from what it seems. I'm guessing Ngombo will go alongside Patty and/or Armon for a backup 4.

Maybe we should trade for two seconds from Minnesota.

I don't know, but they might be interested in a PG after trading Flynn to Houston. That's a rebuilding team where we might be able to work out a deal for Tolliver or Randolph.

He was hidden because they found out that he lied about his age.

I'm sure Blazers Mng know about this by now and are keeping it quite.

Instead of being 21 he is actually about to turn 27.

Which would probably not be that big of a problem if he had star qualities.

But by the time he is ready to be some kind of a supporting player he will be in his thirties.

So Portland were probably looking to trade him along with some other so called minor pieces, but know I doubt that any other team will be interested in #57 T.Ngombo.

Funny how this is not reported on this website or the Oregonion.

An article I read about the age thing said that he was picked by the T-Wolves so Im not sure if the article was wrong of if he was traded and if thats  the case Im curious what we got for him. Here is the article

Minnesota used the 57th pick to take Tanguy Ngombo(notes), a native of the Republic of Congo who played for the Qatar national team, but DraftExpress.com reported that documents exist with FIBA and Qatar that show Ngombo’s birthday to be 1984, not 1989 as the NBA reported. If proven, this could make Ngombo 26 years old, ineligible for the draft under league guidelines and a free agent available to any team.

Ngombo had been scouted by the Wolves’ international scouting director, Pete Philo, who coached with the Chinese national team against Qatar. The Wolves had been privately thrilled over the drafting of Ngombo, a 6-foot-6 wing, and believed him to be a real prospect. If Ngombo is ruled ineligible by the NBA, he could struggle to find more suitors willing to invest the time and resources to develop him because of his age.

There has been so much false reporting here. Minnesota may or may not have scouted Ngombo, but they didn't take him in the second round. We did via a pick we got from DALLAS! The article reported that he went 58th, but he went 57th. While the rumors about his age and free agency may be true, I wouldn't trust extracting any "facts" out of reporters that can't even get the basic information straight.

"The Portland Trail Blazers have acquired a future second round pick from the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for the draft rights to forward Tanguy Ngombo, it was announced today by the team."

There you go. Minnesota did get him. We got a future 2nd round pick from them, which I like because Minnesota usually picks pretty high. If nothing else, it could be a valuable pick to include in a trade that goes elsewhere.

Yeah, he was tripping with that Scottie Pippen reference. Nowhere as good as him, BUUUTTT, I think he can be, if he plays like a man. In Euroleague, you are taught more about finesse, and the fundamentals. He needs to put a little more muscle on, ...
