According to Jay Allen of 750 The Game (no link, just radio), the Blazers are close to sending out Andre Miller for another PG. The deal could be announced as early as tomorrow.
Who could it be? Throw out your most logical trade scenarios here and keep it locked for the latest updates!

    *UPDATE*
    Alex Kennedy of Hoopsworld reports-

The San Antonio Spurs and Portland Trail Blazers nearly completed a blockbuster trade on Wednesday afternoon, but the deal fell apart in the late stages. San Antonio was prepared to ship Tony Parker and the #29 pick to Portland in exchange for Andre Miller, Nicolas Batum and the #21 pick, but the trade died when the Spurs insisted that Richard Jefferson somehow be included in the deal. Other players would have been included in the trade to make salaries work. Talks have quieted for now, but they could pick back up tomorrow if one of the teams has a change of heart.

We would have to wait until after a new cba (30 days was what it took in old cba) before we could make an offer at him if he is waived by the team he goes to...right?
I hate to see him go, but i trust in the teams decision. Hopefully this doesn't burn any bridges, I guess i wanted to see him retire a blazer.

I would either say to Phoenix for Nash, Utah for Devin Harris, Sacramento for Beno Udrih, and something tells me maybe Baron Davis from Cavs, i dont know why..... or maybe just a higher draft pick.....

    For Brandon Jennings? Yes
For Devin Harris? Really, is that the best we could do?

As much as I like Nash, I see him retiring as a Sun. He simply draws too big of a crowd for PHX to let him go.

People are also speculating it could be Tony Parker

Finally found Jay tweeting about the trade rumor-

    Via PDXJay-
Blazers reportedly closing in on at least 1 trade. Andre Miller likely involved. Unclear who would be coming to Portland. Stay tuned...

The most interesting part of that tweet to me is the beginning "closing in on at LEAST one trade"-
Man, if he's on the money, we could be in for an eventful couple of days.

Instead of the players I mentioned before, I kind of have a feeling the trade will be to move up in the draft into the top 10 picks

I hope its for Devin Harris.

After browsing the forums, you seem to be one of the few in favor of adding Harris.
What are the aspects of Harris' game that you think would work here in Portland?

Honestly i'm scared I hope this plays out well.  If Andre is really traded guys its up to us to really send him off the right way I don't know where he might be headed or how much he will be appreciated there but we need to show him that the work he put in here was not ignored and that he will be missed sorely.

Some of you may remember the trade scenario I proposed early last season involving the Orlando Magic.  The skinny had Nelson, Bass and Reddick coming to Portland.  I would still be in favor of such a move, and could see a scenario where both teams improve.  After getting booted in the first round by Atlanta, the Magic may be shopping, especially in lieu of their need to keep Howard happy.  Always better to deal out of conference where possible, particularly when parting ways with impactful players like Nic, Miller and Marcus

@ Tobyus , you must have a very dirty car then .

and i really dont like the fact of throwing andre under the bus after all he's done for the organization
wheather it was the 52 Points against dallas or his first dunk in 3 years or even the development of the L-Train Lob Pass i think he still could lead us to The TItle , i think he should retire in portland and we should be focused on dealing off people who are either struggling or have little potential (Babs,AJ)

    Nash- 2yrs older
    Kidd- 3yrs older
    Davis- 1yr younger/ injury prone
    Harris- 7 yrs younger
    Parker- 6yrs younger
    Lowry- 10yrs younger
    Felton- 8yrs younger
    D.Williams- 8yrs younger
    Paul- 9 yrs younger
    Jennings- 13yrs younger

if Portland is trading for youth and skill level here it is. you know their skills now you know the age difference.

Difficult to find a willing trade partner when all you're willing to part with are players who are struggling or have little potential.  Making matters worse, Babbitt's contract is an eyesore.

To get something, you have to be willing to give something up.

Devin Harris is a Ball Player. He's an experienced point, without alot of ego, that can run a squad. He's decently quick, and isnt prone to many mistakes. When you look at his body of work, he hasnt always been put in situations that allow him total control of the plays. But when a play breaks down, he's more than capable of creating his own shot. His assist average would be higher if he actually had guys that could finish. He also has good size for a pg. I havent heard of any character flaws that would be detrimental to our family. All in all, i think that given the right circumstances and opportunity, this kid would thrive in a McMillan system.

    Devin               Kemba

    Wesley             Roy

    Gerald             Batum??

    LaMarcus          Faried/Pendergraph/Bismack

    Chris                Oden/and or whomever....

If Dallas taught us anything this year, its that each position are like fingers on a hand. All of them need to come together to make a fist.Your bench,if you're lucky, is the left hand.

This was the proposed trade I'm assuming:

    Blazers Deal-
    Andre Miller, #21, Nic Batum

    Spurs Deal-
    Tony Parker, #29

Deal fell apart this afternoon when the Spurs insisted that Richard Jefferson and his 3yr/$30 mill contract be included in the deal.

It was Alex Kennedy of Hoopsworld who reported this-
The San Antonio Spurs and Portland Trail Blazers nearly completed a blockbuster trade on Wednesday afternoon, but the deal fell apart in the late stages. San Antonio was prepared to ship Tony Parker and the #29 pick to Portland in exchange for Andre Miller, Nicolas Batum and the #21 pick, but the trade died when the Spurs insisted that Richard Jefferson somehow be included in the deal. Damn.  I was really hoping this trade would go down.  I will say that the Spurs will very likely have a change of heart IF our new GM doesn't give in.  There is absolutely NO SHAME in having no trades this off-season at all.  Don't pull the trigger if we're getting Jefferson's awful contract here.

I really am failing to see how Portland can take in Richard Jefferson's contract to the point where the trade will still be worth it.  I'd rather have Jefferson than Rudy, but if we obtained his contract, we'd have a new list of problems on our hands, which is trying to get RID of that contract as well.  Not worth it.  It's trading a problem for a solution that has a new problem.  If the Spurs are going to say no to the original deal completely, then don't bother going for Parker.

Parker and Jefferson is about 20m combined. Dre and Batum is about 8-9m combined.  Portland would have to find 11m in salary, or a bit less, inorder to make this deal.

Wesley, Roy, Oden, LaMarcus Wallace are untouchable.  Camby will retire if traded (maybe not if it's to Texas,  but again, would the trade be worth it at that point?  Giving up 3 potential starters for Tony Parker and a crappy contract in Jefferson?).  Who can Portland get rid of that has a significant contract that can make this deal work?  We have the small trade exception for Jerryd Bayless, but we'd still be giving up our depth for a player that isn't a superstar.

Portland cannot afford to do this deal if Jefferson is included.  I think the Spurs will realize that, and will either move on, keep parker, or make the original trade. I think they'll make the original trade honestly.

    From David Aldridge-
Before you send Tony Parker anywhere in draft trades, know that Spurs are asking teams to take RJeff as well. Not much interest so far.

RJeff is owed a ton of money over 3 years and TP just signed an extension last summer so that's a lot of long term money to take on for any team.

Actually the totals only have to be within 25% of each other I believe so where as SA is sending us 20 mil we only have to send them 15. Add Rudy and the trade exception and we've got some magic baby! Id have to say, a starting 5 of Camby, Aldridge, Wallace, Matthews and Parker sounds deadly.

I highly doubt well get a young PG like jennings or lowry because teams are starting to build their lineup around them. The only PG we can get are the older ones like
    - nash
    - Parker
    - Harris
    - Billups
nash is starting to get less minutes so he probably only be able to last a couple more years. billups is injury prone and old. Harris is not really worth because well lose some depth. So parker is probably the best PG available because he still can produce a lot more years. but spurs want to trade jefferson which makes things a whole lot more complicated. if we cant get parker i wouldnt mind keeping miller and drafting a PG. maybe that PG will be as succesful as rondo

Here are my thoughts,  with some added ones,  What do you think?
I do like Nash and what he cane bring to Portland, but agree he will most likely retire a Sun.

I like Parker but don't know if he would be the right fit for the team.

Devin Harris is an interesting Idea for Portland. If we got Raja Bell also. I know we would have to give up one of my Fav SG Rudy, but Bell is the 3 threat Rudy has partially been.

    Deron Williams would be interesting.

What about bringing in a player like Aaron Brooks.

Another thought would be Conley, reuniting him with Oden to help bring Oden back.

CP3 would be a good fit and many alley oops with the plays we have.
I am a fan of great sports plays and the true players.

I believe the number to be 15%.

Curious as to why the Spurs don't consider the likely amnesty clause coming as a option for the Jefferson contract.  This deal may yet become reality, as Portland is in position of leverage with their expirings and willingness to spend.  Wise to stay pat until the 11th hour and see who drops their initial asking price the most.
