Should we feel better about getting knocked out by Dallas now that they've gone on to win the championship?

We did, after all, win as many games against them as Miami did.

    Your thoughts?

    oh god......

    Feeling better about losing>?
in this case its similar to being sad about getting hit by a car and after waking up from your coma you find out that it was a bus that hit you then saying " Awesome!"

If Dallas would of swept, or if Miami didnt play so just utterly HORRIBLY, then it could be a diff story. But Dallas scraped by due to 2 huge factors, Spulstra's strategy and a handful of helpful calls. other than that, ewwww ugh!

Does anyone remember last years final? How atrocious it was? when LA won a game it was because the celtics failed to show up and play, and vice versa. That Game 7 i think had the like Lowest Scoring 1st quarter ever? and not to mention the lowest scoring game in the finals? and there was no awesome defense, it was just weak on top of weak with a weak on top.
    i mean whats going on?

Right. Second best team in the NBA? We might have beaten L.A. or New Orleans in the first round... otherwise any other team in the West would've knocked us out in the first round just like Dallas did. (Memphis would've killed us, San Antonio could've taken it with the home-court advantage, OKC would've had the edge to knock us out, and even Denver probably could've beaten us in 7). On top of that, IF we'd made it to the Finals we would've lost to the Heat, even though they didn't play their best.

We're not a Championship team. But I'll change my question a little bit: did anyone think, during our series against Dallas, that we were up against the team that would go on to win the Championship?

not really. Well maybe a little. We didn't play as bad as the heat did in game six did we? cause that was downright horrible. I wonder if they will fire Spolestra? As for being the second best team in the NBA I don't think so. Nice thought though. No, I didn't think we were up against a team that was going to win it all. Boy was I wrong.

Actually I think we should feel ignorant for "wanting" to play them over other teams and completely underestimating them.

Umm...I don't think San Antonio would've beaten us, nor do I think Denver would.  Memphis and OKC are 50 50, but I'd still pick the Blazers...

Ok... stop thinking like a Blazers fan for a couple seconds, and consider what a 7 game series with any of these teams would've looked like. Yes, we can beat any one of these teams on any given game day. But we can also lose to them, especially in a playoff atmosphere without facing other teams in between the matchups.

uh....i am going to have to go ahead and say no.

i think it was still bulls or lake show at that point.

i thought this team could of managed against SA, but honestly the blazers couldnt of beat any team in the playoffs. there is no arguing around the fact that Aldridge was absent, Wallace was off, and B Roy was reborn......but it wasnt enough.

change the name from dallas to san antonio to okc or to memphis, it doesnt change the way this team played against its opponent. it wasnt a certain player on dallas that just killed this team, this team killed themselves.

Not everyone on these boards wanted Dallas.  I wanted San Antonio, feeling they were ripe for the picking and thin in the middle, just like Portland.  I feared Dallas was too deep and ran on a much higher octane fuel than did our Blazers.  My fears proved to be valid.  The Spurs were done and already had the proverbial fork stuck in them when the post-season started.

To address this thread and the question posed...NO.  I don't believe any consolation can be had from the first round loss to the Mavs.  Portland's weaknesses were exposed, and BRoy single-handedly kept the series interesting.  Roy, NOT the Blazers...who were collectively and soundly outplayed in Game 4.

i wanted LA, dallas, or san antonio in the first round, i knew LA was falling apart, denver had our number all year. dallas was a good matchup (we handled them in the regular season) but didnt expect dirk to shoot 145 free throws a game either.

First need is a centre. And no one will take ten and 13 for 4th or 5th. After like the 10th pick the talent off is huge.

@Meese, it is quite ironic. They also just so happen to have the planets best player in Lebron James who leads them in rebounding with just over 8 a game.
