i think wadding him up and trowing him away is pretty drastic after 1 season of injury. worst case scenario he plays 20minutes off the bench and can easily become our best jump shooter. pretty sure he's a bigger 3 point threat than patty, batum, wallace, matthews, and rudy. best case scenario he works his way back into starting line up, we have a stacked high energy bench and  skilled veteran starting line up that cand ominate at any position. miller roy wallace aldridge and camby? get out of here. backed up by patty/rudy, matthews, batum, pendergraph?, chris johnson/greg oden?  what if roy and oden came back and lived up to 85% of their potential? just give it 1more season to let this team find itself

    Brandon Roy is a star.

That much talent doesn't just go away. Sure he might not be the "same" Brandon Roy, but who are we do say that the adaptation of his game won't make him better?

Keep him. No doubt about it.

Brandon Roy was a star, He will still have moments of greatness maybe even complete games but with his knee condition he will never be the same player he once was. What made him great was his first step off a slow dribble, now with his cartilage gone his first step is also gone. I am a fan of B. Roy but I am first and foremost a fan of the Portland Trailblazers and what is best for the team, That is not having the highest paid player coming off the bench every other game for 20-25 minutes.

    http://blog.seattlepi.com/seattlesportsguy/2011/06/08/why-brandon-roy-can-still-start-for-portland/

^^ above is a very strong article supporting what portland should do with roy and stating some pretty decent reasons for keeping him.
reasons that i truly think a lot of you die hard fans will enjoy.

but in this article it explore some possibilities for roy playing on other teams, some of them are far out, but still deserve credit for the thought.
i mean alot of you guys have state NENE would be a decent off season target, why not trade Roy for him?

that bleacherreport article is beyond stupid, but the first one is probably exactly what Blazer's Front Office has been thinking about since the season ended.

I agree with Sarah star talent doesnt just leave a player. Brandon Roy can still be a star in his own way.... clutch performances in the 4th quarter... giving us a scoring threat off the bench... and his ability to get to the rack is still there.. sure the step back might be off a lil but the key to the step back is not your knees its ur calves and shins gettin a good plant on ur feet to elevate ur knees... its not like he cant jump.... Dont get rid of Brandon we will regret it

Brandon is a gamer. His competitive spirit came alive in game four. There isnt a better ball handler on our squad. No one is more clutch. We owe this guy big time for bringing respectability back to our house. Before his arrival the Blazers were a laughing stock. Even at half speed he's a better cerebral player than most. I say we keep him. Let him come off the bench, for humility purposes, and if he gets back to the B-Roy of days of old, he starts, if not, then the bench it is. Either way, keep him. Shake Andre's attractive expiring contract, throw in Rudy and our second round pick, hell, take Babbitt and Armon while you're at it,and get us a Point Guard!!! Captain Ego, Mark Jackson is at the reigns of the Warriors now,so i wouldnt hold out to much hope of acquiring Ellis.

the reason some of us can say that we dont believe Brandon will fully come back or return to stardom, is because history repeats itself. this situation has totally happened a number of times, and unless you consider DeJuan Blair a Happy ending, thats what youre going to get.

Some current successful players that have undergone microfracture surgery in at least one knee: Jason Kidd, Amar'e Stoudamire, Zach Randolph, and Kenyon Martin. D-Wade has come back from big injuries; John Stockton did it in his time. I still have big hopes for Oden and Roy as far as coming back from injury. It may take some change in play style (something I believe Roy is entirely capable of).

I'm honestly not a huge B-Roy fan, just because I've seen some on-court chemistry issues with Roy on the court. In that light, I'd only like to see us get rid of Roy because he's not the right fit for the team. You should never trade a player right after he comes back from an injury. He proved in game 4 against Dallas that he won't go quietly into the night, so.... don't ask him to.

Those two articles are interesting. I disagree with both. The second is bogus mostly because Boozer has no place in Portland and LaMarcus needs to keep playing the 4 rather than starting at center. If we could get Noah, I might accept sending Roy to Chicago. If we're getting a PF from Chicago, I want Gibson coming off the bench for Aldridge. But Gibson isn't worth parting ways with Roy. So there it is.

The second article was a little more up my alley until it started talking about starting Roy at the point... I think Roy proved that he was not a PG this season. Have we ever talked about trading Batum while his stock is high, getting a solid #2 to start or come off the bench behind Matthews and.... wait for it.... play Brandon as the backup 3. Phil Jackson coached B-Roy as an All-Star and played him at the 3 because he fits that role perfectly. No, no... you're right... Jackson is a horrible coach and he doesn't know squat about basketball. ;-)
