What do you think the Blazers will do in the draft? There is only one true player they're targeting in this first round (Kenneth Faried). Here's what I think....

Blazers trade 21st pick and Rudy Fernandez to get in front of New York (17th pick) who wants Faried as well....Maybe to Sixers, who have the 16th pick and need outside shooters and could still get their target at 21 (Nikola Vucevic). Portland drafts Faried at 17 and can regain consistent outside shooting with Jon Diebler at 51...

    Just my opinion...what's yours?

I wouldn't mind trading up to the mid first round if it makes the diference in getting farried or not. His game is the one that is sure to translate at this level and it addresses the Blazers biggest need for the past few season, front court depth. He is a hustle & energy player who can REBOUND. He would add toughness to a sometimes soft blazers team. Doesnt posses a great offensive game but he doesnt nedd one. He just needs to fill his role on the team which is rebound defend & provide energy & toughness. As far as another shooter in the second round I have to disagree with Jon Diebler. The last thing we need is another Luke Babbit. We already have one, why get another? I would go for a point guard with this pick. I like Isaiah Thomas out of Washington. He is small but is great at running the pick and roll which would be good with Aldridge/Oden/Faried. He has a good mid range game and can improve his outside shooting. Many people compare him to J.J. Barrea. I love his attitude and this kid is also clutch as he hit some big game winning shots in the Pac-10 to make Washington this years Pac-10 champs.

I think the blazers will try to move up in the draft without giving up multiple players using Money and maybe one player who is not in our long term plan.  We will then have a draft with a pick around #16 and our 21st pick.  We will target Faried at #16 and the best point guard available (Nolan Smith).

Alternative:  Trade Fernandez, #21, #51, and Miller  for Devin Harris and then purchase a draft pick if available if a player is there that will help the team.

Alternative:  Trade Fernandez and #21 for Johnny Flynn then purchase a mid first rounder to acquire the best big available to back up our bigs.

i think they are just going to mess up anyway like they do every draft.
the only way they will pull out of this with a positive effect is if they trade for players who are already been drafted or just not even worrying about draft picks and going for players who are actually going to have an impact on the team next season......

I'm surprised you mentioned Diebler. I'm An Ohio State fan and I like Diebler, but he's the last thing that this franchise needs. We have enough long range shooters that haven't proved themselves in the NBA. Also, if you're talking about trading Fernandez (probably a good idea) it's one inconsistent 3-baller for another. I disagree with taking a PG at 51 as well. We already have 2 young points that haven't done anything for us.

I definitely hope we target a big in the first round, whether we have to move up to get the right one or not. If we can get Faried, I'm on board. The other option is to target a PG in the first round (moving up to get Kemba Walker is a common idea), but I'm leary of that idea. The PG's role is to run the offense, and in any job, you don't make a guy with no professional experience the supervisor. I've said it in other forums too, our PGOTF is going to come from a smart trade, not from the draft.

What PG would you target to acquire in a trade?  Johnny Flynn, Raymond Felton, Devin Harris, other?  Would you give up Miller to get him and how much more?  Depending on who and how much is given  up we might be inclined to replenish our bench.

If we could figure out how to make the deal with Memphis, Mike Conley. Otherwise, I'd like to see Felton or Harris. Of course, CP3 would be awesome, but I can't see us fitting him into the salary cap.

First need is a centre. And no one will take ten and 13 for 4th or 5th. After like the 10th pick the talent off is huge.

@Meese, it is quite ironic. They also just so happen to have the planets best player in Lebron James who leads them in rebounding with just over 8 a game.
