These medical retirement deals never seem to work out (see Miles, Darius for an example)

No kidding! I only hope nothing that bad happens between this franchise and Roy. I would hate to see fans turn their backs on him in any situation. If he had a choice he would choose to be healthy and playing at an allstar level. Don't ever hate on B-Roy!!

There is just no easy answer to the dilema.  The options that have been kicked around are

    1.  Amnesty clause - should be in the new CBA but still not a nice way to treat Roy after all that he has gone through for the team.  upside is millions in savings.

    2.  Early retirement - another kick in the shorts on the way out the door.  if he takes it, ok.  if he doesn't (as I suspect) it will create a pretty hostile environment between Roy and management.

    3.  redefine his role on the team - this seems like the best option but no role that Roy can fill will justify the money he will make over the next couple of years.

It's a no win situation for somebody no matter how you look at it.

The most difficult part about this entire ordeal is our love for Roy as a person. We Blazer fans [ at least the large majority of us] are very loyal to this franchise. It is afterall the only one we have. To see Roy ousted would be unbearable. He brought respectability back to the RG. I think he is owed at least the courtesy of a few options. I say pay him what he's owed. Theres another game changer out there,we'll find him. We just have to be patient. By now, we should all know how to do that.

You make it sound like he wouldn't get his money, all the amnesty means is it doesn't effect us on the salary cap.

Bad calls? I remember when watching the Lakers game after the all star break that it was the worst match I have ever seen. I don''t think it happens that often to us unless it''s a marquee team.

The list of possibles assumes Oladipo does not fall below the top nine.  I agree that if he did the list would change and most responses would indicate him as the choice.

Oh, sorry Damian, you make so many I stopped reading them. I don''t because I don''t know much about salaries and stuff. Stephenson would be great, excellent rebounder, Tough Defender, is playing awesome in  today''s  game.

Siccolo, did you mean heavier or lighter? I don''t think Noel will do well in the league. If he stays healthy long enough, he might be a half decent starter, if not, Greg Oden.

Damian, you are completely right on that, let''s just hope it''s not a negative impact (Shout out, Ray Ray). And since when did people WANT to come to Portland? This is great.

Paul Allen might sell the Blazers but the Blazers will never leave Rip City.
