Oregon Live does their annual You Be The GM posts and I like to piggyback off of that and see what the fans here think and compare it to the OLive results. Up first is Greg Oden.

Back in October the Trail Blazers and representatives for Greg Oden decided the center had not done enough to warrant a contract extension, letting the deadline pass for 2007 first-round picks to sign an extension. Three weeks later Oden's season ended before it started when he underwent microfracture surgery on his left knee.

After a promising start to the 2009-10 season, Greg Oden went down once again with a broken kneecap in early December. Trail Blazers fans couldn't believe it happened again. Finally, their #1 overall draft pick was healthy on the court, having fun and showing the rest of the league why he was the consensus pick to go #1 back in 2007. Although the injury was yet another bump in the road, many still believed once he returned to full strength in 2011, his play would continue to pick up where he left off. Unfortunately, his timeline for playing kept getting pushed back further and further. And before you knew it, Greg needed microfracture surgery again, this time on his left knee. Still only 23 years of age, one has to wonder if his knees can stay healthy he'd have a great career but those knees are the $1 million question. Reports came out that his right knee, the one he had microfracture on before his rookie year, was stronger than before. If that's the case, hopefully his left has the same response and Greg can get back onto the court for the Trail Blazers.

But for that to happen, he needs to be signed first. According to HoopsHype, the Trail Blazers must extend Greg the qualifying offer of $8.7 million somewhere between after the Finals and before July 1st in order to maintain his Bird Rights. If the Blazers fail to extend the offer, Oden becomes a unrestricted free agent, able to sign with any team for any amount of money. But if the offer is made, the Blazers would have the ability to match any offer Greg gets in the open market. Confuses? So am I. So what is it? Do the Blazers put more money into Oden in hopes of filling our center void or is there simply too much risk at stake with his injured past?

Stay, the avatar says it all. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Greg Oden is the only way this current core group of guys wins a championship ring. Either sign Greg or blow up the team, otherwise it's a bunch of first round exits.

    patience is a virtue.

We just want more wins, and Greg can help that cause tremendously.

The important thing to note is his 2009-10 stats. He came back after the offseason on fire. Before he got injured last november, they said he was looking extremely well in the 2010 offseason. He's still 23 and I think he's more of a fighter than people give him credit for. The minute he gets back on the floor he will realize how much he missed it and put in twice the energy that a normal center would. I think Greg needs some competition for minutes (probably with Chris Johnson) to make him realize he has to play hard to stay. If he responds to that approach positively, motivating him even more, he should be starting quality.

My hopes are that Camby has seen his last starting role during a playoff series. Get out there Greg.

Paul Allen said how do we get better?  I see no activity in the draft with no draft picks.  The trade possibilities are limited because of the value of our bench players.  We have no cap space.  So I think the improvement of our b...

First Game starts tonight. Houston is a tough first round opponent and they play exceptionally well at home. If we can steal a game or two at their place, I feel like we have extremely good chances.

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...
