The high point of the playoffs for Matthews when he singlehandedly outscored the Mavs 14-10 to start Game 3, tying the franchise record for three-pointers made in a quarter during the postseason. His 16 first-quarter points were more than he scored in the first two games combined.

Coming from Utah as a rookie, not many knew what to expect out of Wesley Matthews. The word on the street was that he was one of the best up and coming wing defenders in the league with an intense desire to win. But once he arrived in Portland, fans were greeted with a tremendous three-point shooter and one of the toughest finishers in the paint. Wesley's 6-5, 220lb frame allow him to take a lot of body contact and still keep his balance, enabling him to score despite being amongst the trees. While Wesley was brought here to backup Brandon Roy, Roy's mid-season injuries thrusted Wesley into the starting lineup where he thrived.

According to HoopsHype, Wesley Matthews is locked up for four more seasons and is scheduled to made a cool $6.1 million in 2011-12. With Wesley's long-term deal, it appears that he's going to be a Blazer for quite a while. Should the Trail Blazers keep him at any cost or deal him if the right price comes along? Keep this in mind, Wesley is really our only healthy starting shooting guard option as Brandon is still battling his knees, Elliot is only a rookie coming off of double-knee surgery and Rudy is more suited to come off the bench.

Defense wins championships and Wesley is a stud on D. Not only is he a great defender but he's really our only 3 point shooter. Stay.

When I look at Wesley I sometimes forget he's only in his second year and with his work ethic he's only going to get better and with Brandon health we be a fool to trade him he's another reason why we made the playoffs.

Am I the only one who feels like in a few years wesley could be averaging like 18 points a game along with a few assists and a few rebounds, this cat is solid all over the place and his driving skills will get even better especially if brandon helps him a little bit yeah I think Wesley should defiantly stay and I think he deserves 30 mins a game for god sakes we have to give some developing players time to play of they will never develop he is the player to give those minutes to.  Notice I did not mention who should start because I really don't know but I do know he deserves 30 minutes because he can play well for 30 minutes.
I am a fan of a team who values integrity and shows great heart.

very good defence, good offence and a lot of energy that he brings to the team. After this season performance and with Roy problems with knees for me he is strating lineup player for next season .

    GO BLAZERS !!!

Wes has that defense we need badly. What an amazing contract when we signed him. I am very pleased with his production (although I wish his 3-ball was a bit more consistent). There is not even a little doubt in my mind that we keep Wesley.

Building block, pure and simple.  As the youngest of the trio of popular 'keepers' on the Blazer roster, could Wesley become the leader in the lockerroom moving forward?  His intangibles are undeniable.  If Matthews could add a couple of dimensions to his game offensively in this extended off-season, we could be looking at a future all-star.

Not two months. It wasn''t a major injury, X rays came back positive. I know he played because we had no one who could replace him, and that was admirable, but it simply does not take that long. When he had a good game, he said my wrist felt good....

Yeah I was one of them *blushes*. I was never a diehard fan of basketball until the 2011-2012 postseason. I could name every team, but I always forgot two. Kings and Blazers.

Yeah, he was tripping with that Scottie Pippen reference. Nowhere as good as him, BUUUTTT, I think he can be, if he plays like a man. In Euroleague, you are taught more about finesse, and the fundamentals. He needs to put a little more muscle on, ...

I think what Stotts is doing is superb. His plays are great. I remember the only play he ever called for Meyers Leonard, against the Bobcats. Great movement, got LMA a good mid range look, got Batum a decent three look and the got Meyers way down ...
