It was mentioned on Court Side so I thought about it and wanted to see how it would play out in the Trade Machine. So in the land of GM make believe here is what I came up with.

    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=3kawstw

    Any takers?

Can you post which team gets what along with the link to make it easier for us to see what the deal would be?

I don't see any reason why either of those teams would want to pull the trigger on this one.  Orlando would be paying 2.4 million more for two players, one of which has maybe 4 years left in the tank, and the other who is already starting to run out of fuel.  New Orleans would be saving .1 million for Rudy (who hasn't done much to prove his worth in recent games) and Brandon Roy (who has shown glimpses of his past self, but also was told that he'd have maybe 3 years left.)  Don't get me wrong

...I would love to see THIS happen:
    PG-Chris Paul, Patty Mills
    SG-Wasley Matthews, Elliot Williams
    SF-Gerald Wallace, Nic Batum
    PF-LaMarcus Aldridge, Earl Barron
C-Dwight howard, (Greg Oden???), Chris Johnson

    ...yea, I'd buy that ticket.

I like the look of this:
    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=3r37jt2

To Orlando: Chris Paul (14.9mil), Marcus Camby (11.7mil)...(save 2.2mil)
To New Orleans: Andre Miller (7.3mil), Rudy Fernandez (1.2mil)...(save 6.4mil)
To Portland: Dwight Howard (16.6mil), Jameer Nelson (7.8mil)...(lose 5.2mil)

What this would mean for each team:
Orlando: Chris Paul comes to Orlando...enough said
Marcus Camby will bring Veteran leadership to Orlando, which they currently lack
                  (unless you count Arenas)
New Orleans: Andre Miller will fill in for Chris Paul, bringing veteran leadership, and similar
(if slightly lower) stats.  He will also cut the Starting PG salary in half, thus making
it easier to sign some more talented personnel in the 2 and 3 positions.
Rudy Fernandez will give them a (slightly) better SG for a fraction of the price.
Portland:  Dwight Howard fills the gap at the 5 spot that Oden cannot currently fill.
This does several things for us:
    1) Dwight Howard take ALOT of pressure off of Oden and allow him to rehab at his own speed.
    2) Even if Oden does get healthy again, it's not going to be a good idea for a LONG TIME to play him more than 17-20 minutes. Having an absolute ANIMAL like Greg Oden as our second Center...That's ok by me.
    3)  It's Dwight Howard...
Nelson will be able to spread the defense and run the floor effectively.  He is also not used to being the primary scorer, so he'll be more willing to give up the ball to Howard, Roy, Wallace, and Aldridge.

    PG-J. Nelson, P. Mills, A. Johnson
    SG-B. Roy, W. Matthews, E. WIlliams
    SF-G. Wallace, N. Batum, L. Babbit
    PF-L. Aldridge, C. Johnson
    C-D. Howard, G. Oden,
    PF/C injury safety net-E. Barron

I like the sound of that.

Too bad this isn't 2K11! :)  Yea, I just don't see the Hornets taking on Brandon's contract which goes for another 4 years. Also, there's no incentive for Orlando to do that deal. The worst case scenario for them is losing Dwight for nothing, well after Dre and Marcus' contract expire, that's all that they would be left with.

We get our star in Dwight + take on Hedo's monumental contract and give Orlando cap relief and a young prospect in Batum.

Would anyone be up for this swap with Philly:
Portland Trades: Marcus Camby, Nicolas Batum
    Philadelphia Trades: Andre Iguodala
    Trade Successful

We add Iggy to the starting shooting guard, drop Wesley to the bench to add to our bench production. Our defense becomes unreal on the wing with Crash and Iggy. A healthy Oden makes this trade a slam dunk in my opinion. We could sign a big man to fill the void for insurance as well or sign a point guard and use Dre's expiring deal to get the big man that way. Either way, we add another star to the roster. A big 3 of LA, Iggy & Crash is pretty sweet.

Any reason why you wouldn't do that deal Victor? Iguodala is considered one of the best wing defenders in the game and he's still only 28 years old.

IF Greg is healthy and we keep CJ, or Barron for insurance, or we have other Bigs in mind, then I say do the deal no doubt! Still hard to see Camby go, but it would be similar to the value of trading Joel (plus) for Wallace. Both seemed hard to do at first, but look at the outcome!

Iguodala was also very dissapointing and inconsistent offensively last year. As great as Iggy is defensively, the blazers shouldnt give up Batum for a guy who has less upside and has been decreasing in productivity lately.

    @ClydeFrog
Well, thought it was pretty clear...
Iggy is, as you said, one of the best wing defenders in the league, but so is Batum and imo Batum will reach Iggy's lvl real soon, and plus giving up a good center like Camby will never be a good idea if not in a trade for a better center considering the lack of healthy big bodies in the team.

Iguodala is a good player, but we already have a kind of big athletic small forward guy, his name is Gerald Wallace and he's way better. I don't think we need anymore logjam there or at the 2.

I would argue that Wallace is more of a 3/4 while Iggy is more of a 2/3.

But I didn't realize his ppg dropped by 3 this year according to his NBA.com page so that could be a sign of things to come. He still grabs over 5 boards and dishes out 6 assists which is great to see that he can have an impact in more ways than scoring.

Yes, that's true. I was just saying we already have too many guys at the 2 and 3, hence why I don't think we would be terribly interested in Iggy.

Another idea that I think would work:

In kind of our garbage for your garbage type of move. Let's face it, the Flynn era in Minnesota didn't work and won't work as long as he's forced into being a triangle point guard. He still has a ton of talent and I love buying low. Give them Rudy so he can pair up with Rubio when he comes over. The other players are in there mainly for salary purposes.

@ blazerbear , i would say we have more of a chance in the playoffs with rudy just trade two garbage players away or release them into free agency (babbitt & armon) the whole idea of picking up washed up players from the wolves is kind of bleak it would be better to trade garbage for something better

A lot of great trades but I say Howard and Nelson 24.4 mil. for Batum after resigning him to a 5 year 10mil per contract, Camby, Babbitt and Fernandez 25 mil.

    My Idea of the day:
Assuming Utah moves into the Top 3 and picks either Kyrie Irving or Brandon Knight-

Portland Trades: Andre Miller, Rudy Fernandez
    Utah Trades: Devin Harris

    Trade Machine Link

Utah saves two years off of Harris' contract, gets a great mentor for their young point guard while Portland gets a younger starting point guard.

Flynn is not garbage. Was Billups garbage because he wasn't as advertised in Boston or Toronto? Don't think so. Was Nash a bust because he struggeld during his first stint in Phoenix? Nope. You have to take into consideration the coach and system a player is in when looking to acquire them. Flynn is a horrible fit in the triangle offense and why not take a chance on him if he'd be cheap to obtain? Maybe he could be our future at the pg spot? Giving them Rudy & Babbitt is a risk I'm willing to take.

My response to both point guard trades:

    Minnesota-
I'd definitely take a chance on Jonny Flynn and although his value is pretty low, I think Minnesota could get more than the package we were offering.

    Utah-
Even though Devin is younger, I'll still take Andre over him any day of the week. Harris is a decent point guard, but not the type of long-term answer we need.

Here's an interesting trade I came up with between Portland and Detroit

    Portland Trades:
    Andre Miller
    Luke Babbitt
    Rudy Fernandez
    Armon Johnson
    #21

    Detroit Trades:
    Ben Gordon
    #8

Andre is then cut by the Pistons *(team option hasn't been picked up yet) and we sign him back with part of our Mid-Level Exception.

    Trade Link: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=3ht8vhd

    Depth Chart:

    PG: Miller/Mills/E. Williams
    SG: Matthews/Gordon/Roy
    SF: Wallace/Batum
    PF: Aldridge/C. Johnson
    C:  Oden/Camby/

Use the 8th pick of Alec Burks or Bismack Biyombo

people will say eh look at the loses we will get . I personally think they will be wrong.

NO will want to get rid of cp3 and get something for him. A roy is good because he is a known allstar player that knows the coach of NO. A gamble but it could be worth it. Ellis can fill in for paul. give them fernandez and johnson and they should be happy about what they got.
line up - Ellis, Roy, landry, west, okafer, big bang lineup like monte likes

GS will blow up their team and create a strong nucleus. The lack of defense shows. It can be filled though. With Cp3's pocket picking and Battuums strong in your face type D, their guards are strong at defense. D Wright can score when healthy and do not forget about David Lee. They still have more players they can trade.
Line up  CP3, Battuum, Wright, trade for a pf, and lee

Portland makes things very clear. You now have options at pg, you have potential trades, you clear roys bad contract, clear the sg. The only thing you do not fix is at center. Curry can be a closer and spreads the court more than miller. Ariza is a known winner(LA) and can be a finisher. He is a more natural sf than Battuum and can play sg.
Lineup - Curry, Mathews, Gerald, LA, Go (Camby maybe)

I think NO would win the trade. They become more stacked and it would be interesting to watch. They would become a playoff team with a big three of their own.

Most potential is gs. The system is right, the players are right, they would just need to make 1 more trade for a pf (fry?) and they may be unstopable offense. Paired with the D battum and CP3 gives them they could be a great team.

I like blazers because it gives us a player that is great now, great potential, and is pretty much and allstar (curry). It also solidifies our bench having ariza who is good all around performer as well as a close out defender. Gives us room to make another trade. Miller can be traded as well as camby, or you can keep both and draft a center. imo interesting ideas

    How about this:
WE Trade Miller, Camby, Fernandez, and Babbit to the Clippers for Blake Griffin, Mo Williams and Ryan Gomes
The Trade work out, and if you look at it this way Mo Williams is a younger not as good version of Andre. Camby is a better defensive player and gets more rebounds then Griffin, but not even close to the offensive player as Griffin. Fernandez and Babbitt are way better than Gomes, and they help make up for the difference between Griffin and Camby.
