Should the Blazers try to pursue a superstar or is Portland simply just too small of a market for anyone with big talent to want to come here?

If they want to win they will come here to get a championship or to the L.A. Clippers.

I don't think we are too small of a market. We have had superstars in the past (Bill Walton, Clyde Drexler). The only catch is that we usually draft them instead of signing them. But we won't have cap space in the foreseeable future so as long as they are open to being traded to Portland, we have a chance. It's usually once the player gets here that they love the town and never want to leave (See Channing Frye).

    dude, its ESPN.chicago.com, not www.iamatrailblazersfan.com.
hahaha, but wouldnt this be the epitome of a band wagon fan? i mean that just happened, and then you just showed up....

    it depends on the superstar.
i think this team needs to decide whether or not to go after a soon to be superstar or someone who already is a superstar.

Aldridge, Bayless Oden those " soon to be" superstars, didnt work out as planned, aldridge finally squeaked in this season showing that he is a good player, a great player.
but the other two didnt really work out so well, they both show excellent examples of what you get with "soon to be superstars" either injuries or imperfect playing habits...
Roy is an example of a successful transition from joe to super pro.......

but that is the question, build up a superstar to fit your needs, or get someone that tickles your fancy already...

Interesting trade, mathews +miller for curry, gets rid of one of gs pg and gives them a 2 guard, expiring contract of miller opens room for gs to make a move, for us it cuts down the sg, opens some cap space,  and gives us room to get a sf (battuum as backup sg behind roy, elliot behind him), curry is a smart player that really spreads the court for aldridge and roy, he also doesn't need the ball in his hands all the time, starting lineup

curry, roy, gerald, aldridge, camby (oden if healthy) it just seems alot more spread for aldridge so they cant really double team him

the point of the trade would be to get a pg that doesnt need the ball in his hands the whole time, we have roy and aldrege and occasionally gearald to get lots of touches, curry is a plug and play guy that i think may be generally easy to get, and if we still want to make a move after that we can, get players such as okafer (need center) gortot (same reason) liews? (iffy and not really needed) or someone else

more i think of it maybe liews would be an ok grab, not the best contratct, roy for lewis strait up, lewis woul back gerald and be a super effective 6th man time player, battuum would start at sg with elliot and a draft pick behind him

Roy had an injury. This up coming season he will be his old self and everyone will stop with this Roy trading ideas. He will be our Superstar and Aldridge will be our second all star and teams wont be able to handle them. Point Guards will want to come to Portland to play with those guys. Just wait ROY WILL PLAY AT A HIGH LEVEL AGAIN!!!!
I am a fan of Portland's big three. Brandon Roy, LaMarcus Aldridge and the newest Trail Blazers Gerald Wallace

Dude, Brandon Roy's knees ARE SHOT!
He has very little meniscus left, thus causing bone on bone friction along with pain and eliminating that explosive first step that made him an "All-star" in this league. He might be a solid "role player" at best, contributing 8-12 points a night with a glimpse of his former self every once in awhile, but why would you spend $70 million on a contract tied to a player who has limited capabilities on the court? I'd rather spend that $70 million on an All-star or a dominant big.
I am a fan of you checking your email because Elliot Williams is sending you a message!

    so are chris pauls knees.
so are tim duncans(and they have been for a multitude of years).
you can never measure the heart of someone. midicine can say you cant. but the heart still says you can.
roy may not return to 25 a night guy. but i do believe he'll return to 18-20 a night.

i could keep going with people whom have had bad knees and still had a major impact for their teams.
pretty entertaining to say the least. -.-

so it comes down to the point of interest of Roy,
Will portland start a guy who is in the current condition of Roy?
Will Roy stay if he cant get the minutes he wants?

or is he even lucky to still be considered a member of this team, and should not complain at all?
what is his current contract salary?
is it worth it to the teams success to keep him instead of getting a healthy team together?

Right now, the most realistic is Asik. If Houston pursue D12, sign and trade JJ and a couple second round picks, maybe Joel Freeland or somebody for Asik.

Nah, Washington would just sign him themselves, save them a pick. Also, no way JJ is worth a lottery pick. Oladipo would be great, for pretty much any team in the NBA. I don''t think it''s possible to get him though. Should focus on getting a defe...

What happens if we don''t win? Dwight will start his nonsense, we would be out a lot of money, and with no real talent to show for it. San Antonio and Memphis is proof that you don''t need superstars to win.
