Drafted in the second round (No. 34 overall) out of the University of Nevada, Reno, Johnson entered summer league not knowing exactly what his future with the Blazers would be. But his performance in Las Vegas, averaging 11.6 points, 4.2 assists and 2.2 steals, was enough to earn a contract from the Blazers. Shortly after, his feisty defense and athleticism in training camp earned him some playing time early in the regular season.

Is Armon Johnson the Point Guard Of The Future? At the beginning of the season, it looked like it could be the case as he beat out Jerryd Bayless for the backup point guard spot in the rotation, allowing the team to deal Bayless to New Orleans. As a second-round pick out of Nevada, scouts weren't hip to Johnson's game right away, so the lefty caught a few teams off guard. His best game came early on in Milwaukee, when he sparked a rally off the bench, scoring 10, handing out 5 assists with only 1 turnover and not missing a single shot he took (4-4 from the field, 2-2 from the line).

But scouts figured his game out and Johnson soon found himself as the third point guard on the depth chart behind Andre Miller and Patty Mills. He did well in his two stints in the D-League but could never regain his backup role. Whenever he did he playing time towards the end of the season, he seemed focused on scoring and scoring alone as he would drive hard left nearly every time. Another troubling sign was his "tunnel vision". Something Bayless suffered from. AJ would get in the paint and not be able to see what he was doing, often times leading to a turnover. He has the stature and skill set to become a good defensive minded guard but is that his peak? Or is he more than just a career backup?

According to HoopsHype, AJ has one year left on his rookie deal worth $788,000. Not exactly killing our salary cap. With such a small salary, it would seem very unlikely to move AJ unless he was thrown into a trade for salary purposes only. So what is it Rip City, stay or Go?

Here is the highlight package from that Milwaukee game. Look towards the end for the sweet lob to Dante for the alley-oop

Go. He's not better than Patty and isn't better than Dre. I like his height for a point guard, but he doesn't have a specialty. While Patty may struggle at running an offense his niche is his energy and long-range shooting. What is AJ's?

Stay. Armon is athletic, fast, confident, brings energy, solid on both Defense and Offense, and he has a strong motor, he want's to get better.

& Armon can shoot from behind the arch just as well as Patty can. Lol.

I say we keep him, I think he has a bright future with the Blazers as long as he can rid himself of the tunnel vision THAT ALL ROOKIES PLAYING IN GARBAGE MINUTES HAVE. I think he will develop into a solid backup PG. JMO though.

Go,I think he is not a team player. That Cardinal/Mills incident as Cardinal said "some one from his team should have called screen" look at footage Johnson was stairing directly at Cardinal I think that might of been some pay back for Patty taking his spot.

Not his fault I guess, that's what's expected when you through a Rookie straight into the rotation with out him earning the right, made it harder for him to except when he was dropped ,after that he seemed bitter...always pouting on the bench. He did not have to face any real adversity (basketball wise) to warrant that self pity.

Someone must have had a word to him towards the end of the season when he knew he would not be back in the rotation. He seemed to be less self absorbed.

Goodluck to him,but I think he will develope a chip on his shoulder if he continues to be behind Patty.

Good thing for Armon,Terry Porter loves him as he reminds him so much of himself when he started his NBA career.

Okay, I''ll admit it, I like Asik better. I definitely think they will both have very good careers. And finally, someone who agrees, that Ibaka is a  shot blocker, not really a great defender.

He is 6''5.25" in socks and yet he managed to be a decent center because Duncan took the tough assignments.

Noel will be just fine the problem with Roy and Oden was the Blazers training staff and doctors in Colorado. That dude is a complete hack. Blake Griffin, Tom Brady went to a doctor in LA and they look fine, Adrian Peterson went to the Andrews clin...

Henson will be solid down the road but his ceiling is more like Taj Gibson. He is a great role player but not elite like Sanders and Ibaka could be if people were not so willing to shoot on him.

Here''s my best Mock Draft scenario for the Blazers:

Trade every pick we can to get a starting defensive Center.

Well, I still think he won''t do great in his career. Seems weak.
