Should Rudy Fernandez Stay Or Go?
Stay- His hustle was there & he's close with his teammates (7)
     23%
Go- A shooting guard that struggles to shoot hurts the spacing on the floor (24)
     77%
Oregon Live does their annual You Be The GM posts and I like to piggyback off of that and see what the fans here think and compare it to the OLive results. Up first is Rudy Fernandez.

But like 2009-10, Fernandez was absent in the playoffs. With Portland in desperate need of offensive production off the bench, his numbers were dismal against the Dallas Mavericks. In six games, Rudy shot 4-for-18 (22 percent), including going scoreless from the field in three games, and averaged less than three points per game in the series.

So what is it Rip City, stay or Go? According to the Oregon Live article, last year 60% of the fans wanted Rudy gone. A lot of that could have been some of his remarks about not being happy in Portland. And after an eventful summer to say the least, Rudy warmed back up to Portland and the fans welcomed him back with open arms. While his shooting was at an all-time low, Rudy still found other ways to contribute such as his pressure defense and his alley-oop lob passes to LA.
According to HoopsHype, Rudy has one more year left on his deal at $2.1 million before the qualifying offer of $3.2 million can be offered or an extension worked out before Rudy becomes an unrestricted free agent. With Matthews looking like the long-term 2 guard, Roy cementing himself as a playmaker off the bench and 2010 rookie Elliot Williams returning from knee surgery, the 2 guard position looks like a log jam. Do the Blazers move Rudy in hopes of filling a hole elsewhere or keep him around and hope his shooting reverts back to his rookie year form?

Easy choice, he needs to go.  we need a more consistent shooter and someone who shows up in the playoffs

I liked Rudy, but he's defiantly someone I'm looking to trade if I'm Rich Cho.

well since he gives the best mnanicures at team sleepovers, i think he is a keeper for sure...........

nah the dude is definitely stepped it up this past season, work on that 3 ball and ball handling in transition and he will be picture perfect.

I think he likes the Blazers. I thin he likes the NBA. But he's obviously more comfortable playing in Europe. His dynamic skillset is fun to watch play, but we could use a bigger and more physical guard at that reserve slot.

I was really hard on Rudy during the offseason for his comments but his all-out effort and hustle made me appreciate his game that much more. But the wording in the poll question says it all, "A shooting guard that struggles to shoot hurts the spacing on the floor. " We need shooters. Bottom line. This will now be Rudy's second straight off shooting year from 3 and I'm not sure if he'll regain that mojo. Not to mention, we already have a log jam at the 2 guard. I don't think he has a ton of value but he could be a nice piece to throw in.

I like his style of playing which is maybe more suitable for europe but I vote that he should stay in Portland !

His dropping stats make me worry. You are supposed to get better not worse. His play is always good the first 4/5 of the season but is completely absent during the end.

I loved seeing Rudy hustle so much more this season. That really is a positive to me. I think a lot of what hurt his credibility was his inconsistent outside shooting and his complaints in the beginning of the season. I think Rudy is still valuable and a good player, we should give him another year and see what happens. He really is good and picked up his scoring a lot when we needed him to, so I think he is still worth a shot.

I would agree LMA is a decent defender but his help defense and team defense needs a lot of work. It is in these areas that Bosh really separates himself from LMA and it is because of that he is a better player than LMA despite not putting the sam...

I was looking at some shooting stats and came across a very very alarming stat. LMA was the league leader in FGA from 16-23 feet. Not only was he the leader he was lead by a mile. His 7.3 attempts from this distance easily outpaced Demar Derozan w...

Sug I would start with him outscoring Wesley Matthews. He also needs to get his FTA up and his FG% up and cut down the turnovers.

His defense was decent last year but not that good as he is either too weak or just unwil...
