Over the past few months we have debated several trades that we could be okay with despite our love for the players we have. Some names that were strongly debated were Jose Calderon and Chris Bosh. We have also talked about maybe taking on J. O'Neil or trying to get a Jason Kapono or Jamario Moon, maybe even Shawn Marion. I am here to put those names all to sleep. All these players have played, or are playing for the Toronto Raptors this last season. Not really eyepopping at first. But wait, there's more. Believe it or not, they are a LOTTERY TEAM this year, out of the EASTERN CONFERENCE! The Eastern Conference is top heavy. You mean to tell me that a team with that many people can't win more than 40 games? Not even .500 basketball? I don't care who the coach is, if these players are as good as we all say they are, then they should be a playoff team no matter what. Bosh, a gold medal for riding the bench then he comes in and is the best scorer and rebounder on his team. Great accomplishment, where's the playoff seed? Jose Calderon, lets trade Blake for him right? No, if he can't get THAT team to the playoffs, then he is NOT an upgrade, his stats just look that way because the rest of his team is that much worse. Sorry, there is no excuse for this unless the excuse is that these players are EXTREMELY over-rated, in which case I will keep my team the way they are with Blake as my starting PG and going to the Playoffs.

I was on the Calderon band wagon for one reason and one reason only... I dont think sergio has a future in PDX, and I like the spanish armada.... Calderon> Sergio..

But in all honesty if this same exact team came back next year I would be extatic. Maybe Minus Sergio, not because I dont like him, but because I dont think he wants to be here, and thats not how you build a team in Portland.

As was I up until two days ago when I looked at the lottery list. I have to say, I am curious as to wether Sergio wouldn't do the same on that team. Granted he doesn't have the outside shot that Calderon does, but he can penetrate and pass probably better. I just don't trust anybody on that Raptors team anymore. You look at it and they should have done a LOT better, especially in the Eastern Conference. Go through their roster and I bet you could find ATLEAST 10 games that they should have won that they didn't. Not games that could have gone either way, but games where Toronto just didn't show up that night, and Calderon is one of the two leaders of that team so he is predominantly one to blame for their lack of success. You are right, I too would be extatic to have the same lineup coming back next year, PLUS Martel. I look forward to seeing this team develop over the summer and hearing the news from camp.

Rip you could be spot on the only issue with this theory is coaching factor. I think it has been shown a few times the the right player in the wrong system does not work. There are also the wrong combination of players that do not get it done. There are several teams with all stars I would love in certain spots but were also not playoff teams. I would like to think with this squad we could add any of these players and bring out there strengths to this teams advantage. All the players mentioned have some good quality's escpecially Bosh. I am not sure were he fits in. I am not gonna lie I am not huge on Sergio Blake or Travis. I would like to see some improvement in those areas the maybe a free agent or trade to upgrade backup PF. I do not have any scenario's because I do not have time to come up with any but PG needs to be addressed and we need to second true PF and bye to Travis let Rudy shoot those shots I hate fade away jumpers contested with shot clock.

I agree that the fade aways should be left to B-Roy and Rudy. Either way you slice it though, there is no excuse for Toronto to have played as poorly as they did. With a better coach, they should be a 5 seed at the worst with a possible second round playoff berth. As is, they should atleast play .500 basketball. Yes, different people succeed in different systems (Von Wafer for instance). When it comes to Chris Bosh though, he doesn't have the all around talent to carry his team like KG did with the T-Wolves. To me, Bosh's stock just sank. The problem is now that he would be a great back up for most teams in the league and a decent starter, but he can't be a back up for anyone because he is used to being "the man" in Toronto. He has an inflated sense of self-value and he would be a problem for any team that wouldn't start him. Combo that with his team underachieving, his stock has dropped a lot. Maybe this is a case where everyone else on the team is overrated and he really is that good, but I just don't believe it. I think he is the one that is the most inflated on that team. He will only do well in NY with lebron and wade. That is the only place he will have the chance to win anything outside his Gold Medal in Olympic CHEERLEADING! King James played more time at PF and Center than Chris Bosh did.

Cmeese is right. All of these guys will make way more money. There will be other teams offering to buy them as well. Damian, try to settle on one roster a week or something man.

Barnes would not fit in Portland. His attitude is completely wrong. Sanders has anger problems, but is not an bad guy. Barnes is dirty. Tony Allen already has an excellent core in Memphis. Z-Bo, Gasol, and Conley. He has finally found a team which...

Dion is good as well. Harrison isn''t great at any one thing. He''s a very good defender, a solid three point shooter, he is athletic, strong, can take it to the rack well, has a decent mid range game, and a good attitude. This collection of good ...

Matthews actually shot 43% in his first season but made less that 20 threes. In his final season he made 42 threes at 37% clip. Decent. Oladipo is definitely on the right track. I still think that Wesley is more valuable. Cmeese, I like Oladipo an...

He is exactly what we need. I just worry the same thing that we will be like Roy and the T-Wolves

Rookies are fine a team should be able to carry 5 of them easily. The problem with us last year was we had no depth in front of the rookies. Lillard and Leonard as lottery picks should have gotten lots of playing time, which they did. However, Bar...
