I found these quotes in this Oregon Live article
"This series is far from over," he told TNT. "They're very good at home, they make shots, they play tough, so we gotta be prepared for a tough game."
"I've always said, they have the best home court in the NBA ... they still have the best fans, in my opinion, in the NBA," Barkley said.
How ironic is it that Charles Barkley is the voice of reason? Given everything that has went down, we are still a great team at home and all we have to do is take two over the weekend and we are back in business. If you're going to the games this weekend, be LOUD!

Clearly, Chuck hasnt been reading the Facebook posts from all the "fans" they've already thrown in the towel. Kinda hard not to through really, I suppose. I'm guessin Dallas in 5 at this rate.

Keith? What fans are you talking about?
I've seen disappointment about the losses,  but those were just practice games. No worries, we got it covered, relax my friend. Business (mod edit-profanity-keep it clean) is about to get messy for Dallas. You know that. Keep your chin up.

i think thats the equivlilent to Dennis Rodman telling you that you have the hotest clothes in fashion for the time being.

and that mane wore a dress to his wedding.

But it doesnt matter how good the fans are if the players dont want to win......

Hope Portland wins its home games and one game in Dallas its very do able. 2 games in Dallas left just have to win 50% of them if Blazers go 3-0 in the Rose Garden. for all of you fans going to those games i hope you dont have voices after leaving because you were screaming so loud and for the whole game. If us fans stay in the game even if the score is ugly Portland can most likely pull threw. Sine we are "the best fans in the NBA"

I am a fan of Portland's big three. Brandon Roy, LaMarcus Aldridge and the newest Trail Blazers Gerald Wallace

Barkley says a lot of things I disagree with.  He also says a lot of things I agree with.  This time, I'd disagree.  We may have the most passionate fans, but we by no means have the "best" fans, unless there is a different definition of "best" that I don't know about.  Great fans don't give up on their best players.  They don't throw their players under the bus because they aren't giving the opportunity to prove themselves.  Best fans don't hate on a player that is plagued with injuries so much that they fall into depression.  No, best fans stick by their team, stay loyal, give constructive criticizem when needed, and remember what a player has done for their franchise.  The past few days Blazer fans have not been this, and ever since drafting Oden, a lot of fans aren't the best fans either.

There may be a handful of us that are considered "best fans", but to define Portland has a whole as the best fans, especially after what has been said by a lot lately, is a lie.

I have to respectfully disagree Herr. There's not a single fan base that doesn't have those that turn against a team in times of difficulty (and by turn against we can mean anything from not watching, to bad mouthing the team, to giving up). Also, keep in mind it's a lot easier to stay positive when you've won a couple of championships in the past few years or enjoyed great success. If there's extra negative waves coming from Portland fans, it's because they've seen this before and are afraid of another first round playoff exit. You can't expect everybody to have the same blind optimism that some do. The Blazers are down 2-0, home or away, the odds of winning the series are not good, though certainly not impossible. They know that a loss tonight pretty much equals another first round defeat. Whether or not Portland has the best fans in the NBA can be debated, but I don't think people saying some negative things is a reason why they don't.
I am a fan of cheering the Blazers on from South Florida!

Best Fans want what is best for the team and not for any one individual player. I love the Portland Trailblazers and I always have but to say the team is perfect or even great at the moment is a lie. I want what every fan wants, to have other teams scared to play us at any time like they fear L.A., Miami, Boston etc. I believe we are close to being there but not with the roster we have. I feel Portland fans might be the best because we don't switch teams as a lot of other fans do. Win or lose we still support our Blazers.

When i hear the term best fans, i think about other superficial titles people place on something like a sports franchise in efforts to compensate for something else......

good teams, teams that win games and championships, dont talk about their fans because they dont have to.

teams who cant win games unless the fans are involved, they talk about their fans of course.

but the blazers i feel are so frustrated with how their franchise has been playing the past few years, proud that they make it to the playoffs and are their to support them but they are tired of getting shut out....and who can blame them?>
aslo the lack of recognition from around the league, its like the blazers make it to the first round and what not, but who cares? the blazers nation cares!
so i thinik thats why when a title like "best fans" , a title that means absolutely nothing, is dropped some franchises try to reach out and grab it before anyone else can.

If you would like to know who has the best fans, they have sports people who analyze all that crap. they make full on research statistical essays about it.
there was a report on bleacher report that showed the best sports franchise fan bases.
it was graded by wins, losses, attendance,  and all that.
the angels were it for the mlb and i want to say OKC was the king in the nba.

but really every team thinks their fans are the best, unless your in new jersey, but really, like do you think the Utah jazz fans are going to let someone walk up and take the title of best fan base?

@herr it kinda sucks that the loudest fans are sometimes the most ignorant. the majority of us are still with our team, still with brandon, still with oden. we win and lose as a team. that's it. by the way anybody who didnt go the game tonight missed out. the atmosphere was incredible. i was up top with the crazy people.

I didn't hear any boos for Roy tonight.  If the Blazers were stationed in LA it'd have been a different story.  The asshat fans bitch on OregonLive and a bit around here but when the ball goes up in the Rose Garden it's a whole different story.  Blazer fans are a thunderous bunch.  They're a forgiving bunch.  Which is uncommon for such a passionate group of people.

portland fans are the best and not because sir chuck says so. portland fans are the best because we appreciate team ball and hard work. we dont need a kobe bryant to latch on to and market, we dont need a lebron james to give us hope. we like guys who work hard and leave it on the floor. the thrylla wouldnt get a stand ovation in miami, or LA, because he never averaged 25 and 10. but portland fans loved him because his work ethic was astounding and he really put his all into this organization. we dont get respect around the league because stern only cares about revenue, and revenue is generated from trinkets with lebrons and kobes and howards names on them. portland loves us some patty mills and not because he put up 30 a night, but because what he does for chemistry and morale. I'll take 15guys that play team ball and work hard over a "big 3" any day of the week. go blazers and go RIP city.

I really like how lamarcus has taken his constant snubbing with a laugh. he is MIP and he IS an all star, he knows it, we know it. the league recognizing love for padding his stats is a joke. but thats quite all right. I'd take 20 and 9 over 30 and 20 if it means our team wins and shares the ball. in my opinion the blazers team is Most valuable players. and i cant wait to celebrate in a pool of mark cuban tears come game 6 when we advance to the second round. I'll be at game 4, maybe i'll start the beat LA chant early, that is if they can get to the second round.

i would just like to make  a copuple of statements towards this....

For the best fan base ever, you sure do love to name drop and hate on players that dominate the league.
They also were never taught the phrase " if you dont have anything nice to say, dont say anything at all."
I mean look at it, Love worked hard as hell this season, but you can only show anger and act rude because it wasnt your guy.

the best fans...wherever they are....are not sore losers.

There is an added effect of drama on nearly every call at the rose garden, just boo's and screams, hooting and hollering, it can be a little tooooo much sometimes.

This team has been longing for a player like LeBron or Kobe, whether you can admit it or not. You want someone to be the leader of this team. Ya'll nearly cried when aldridge didnt make the ASG.
And still there is a need for someone who can consistantly play like a champ year in and year out.

Furthermore, just about every fan i have encoutered on this website is under the impression that, the league is working against the blazers, and that David Stern is a direct blood relative of Hitler.

Its not. i mean stern doesnt show love, but why should he? there is no incentive. Dont you think they feel the same way in Golden State? Or Milwaukee?

Stern is a guy who likes attention, and he swarms around those players and teams that make news. Every time portland is about to make news it seems like a knee goes out somewhere.

Did you ever hear the kids in school talk about the weak skinny kid with thick rimmed glasses who sits in the back? Or did they talk about and try to make friends with the blonde headed mr popular, who plays on the soccer team and can drive?

this is just an ousiders perspective, others might see it the same or differently, the writings on the wall you know, but let me say the bold print sticks out like a sore thumb. You may have your 15 guys who work hard but those 3 all stars are going to be the ones coming home with the rings.....

well tay c, you are pretty good at assuming you know me by a single post, but let's break down your post because, well, i have nothing better to do but sleep before my trip to portland tommorow :)

as for the popular guy vs. nerdy kid analogy, i was always the guy that hung out with the nerd and if the popular guy messed with the nerdy kids i stood up for them. being as im rather large i never had to fight anyone, intimidation and talking like an adult did the work for me. kind of like how aldrige lets his play talk and doesnt cry when his big 3 isn't getting their way.

david stern does indeed latch onto big markets and im sure they do feel the same way in milwaukee and golden state. and being a lifetime blazer fan i can say i rooted for the warriors when they came in at the 8th seed and beat dallas. in fact, i enjoyed watching that series more than any blazer series i've ever watched, because they played pure team ball and left it all on the court. (and i really enjoy watching cuban cry) I think our current blazer team has the potential and often times does play like that, that's why i love them.

i would not want lebron or kobe on my team, i can admit they are talented, and im not dumb, i see they are favored by refs. but i dont like them because they are ego maniacs. sore looser? the blazers have never won a championship in my lifetime, yet i've been a diehard fan since i began being interested in basketball in the 6th grade. even a few years ago when joel was probably our best player i watched games knowing we were rebuilding.

i name drop and hate on players because i dont like them, some i feel get away with cheating often. i dont blame a loss to their team on it, but i dont turn a blind eye. blake griffon for instance, after every made shot, will kick the ball or stumble on it or smack it. it should be a delay of game because he is doing it to prevent a fast break and allow himself to get back on defense. it's cheating, smart, but cheating, and thus i dont respect his game at all. and his car dunk was terrible by the way.

"ya'll nearly cried" who is ya'll? this was my first post, i didnt cry, i laughed, i knew it was comming. im happy aldrige used it as motivation rather than an excuse to play mediocer the rest of the year. i was glad he didnt make the game cause i knew he needed rest, though that doesnt stop me from recognizing it was a bad call by stern.

as for kobe dominating the league. duh. the guy is pure talent and probably top 3 best players currently in the league easy. that doesnt mean i have to like him or even respect him, i reserve the right to hate or like anyone for any reason i feel necessary. but if you can't admit he gets more calls and gets away with things other players wouldnt then you are the one with your head in the sand.

can you sit here and tell me duncan honestly deserved to make the all star game over aldridge based purely on this years individual preformance? (keep in mind, posing a question is not equal to crying)

as for fans, we are the best, but every fan base has their sour apples, it's not to late to leave the darkside though, tay c :P

hahaha, i think i started a downward spiral trip down memory lane.......
although i wasnt, in anyway trying to say the type of person you were...are....
but you are providing me with enough evidence with just that one statement, "they are favored by refs".
Aldridge can ball, but he should definitely still use his words, his game "aint that solid"

that is a ridiculous accusation. you are not understanding the type of player they are, a player who can DRAW the FOUL, make it look like there was a foul even when their wasnt.

And please tell me how they are ego maniacs, i mean you care more about their actions than they do. the haters give LeBron and Kobe negative press and turn nothing into something.
you can sit back and watch this short little movie, and see from just about 14 different angles how wrong you are about Griffin.

You accuse me of doing to you, what you do towards NBA Superstars, like how hypocritical is that>?
like next your are going to tell me that Andre miller's push on  griffin should of been a top 10 play....
the blazers can do wrong too, idk if you know....

as for the "ya'll", i am aware that you have only recently joined this website, so perhaps instead of trying to call me out on it, you could just use your head and think that perhaps i was not referring to you.
one post does not limit me to speak towards one person. like i had said, a "couple of statements" not the whole post was aimed at you, flattering though.....

I dont think Duncan Deserved to go, but also i dont think Aldridge deserved it, there were way better players. You know Duncan did however help his team keep their record under 10 losses, where as Aldridge did not do the nearly the same. So i do think that is worth something. i mean i get he has a reputation too, he has only missed the top 5 voting for MvP once or twice, and has never missed top 10....i dont think.

as fans, youre loyal, but statistically its actually the Magic who had the most solid fan base over the past few years. Are they as dramatic and loud as ya'll? No, but the numbers dont lie. you could argue that the laker fans boo'ed their team because they would like to let their team know that they were performing badly, that they care, where as Portland maybe doesn't care as much? or wouldnt know good playing from bad playing even if they saw it? hahahahah jk.

I think its alot easier to just dismiss the best players and without question assume that they are getting assistance from "sterns hands" but it is alot harder to try and understand just how talented these guys are, how well they can manipulate another mans judgement based on their body movements.

dont know where you were for game 4, tayc, but i was in the rosegarden with the best set of fans i've ever cheered with up in section 325. yeah we were upset when we couldnt buy a bucket, but we didnt boo our team, we believed. pre 4th quarter i looked over to my buddy and said, this is do-able i bet roy drops 40 in the 4th. my zealous prediction was off but only by a few points :)
