yeah well how about fining Kobe 100k for what he said.
now thats ridiculous. When you agree to play or work in the nba the only way you can exercise " Free speech" is by ink on your skin.....tattoo's is about all they haven't complained about.

Really TayC?  You are going to defend Kobe Bryant?  I might have expected something like that from a member of the Jail Blazers... but the face of the NBA?  On Live TV? C'mon... No human being should use slurs like that.

Firstly... the NBA Code of Conduct supersedes players and coaches' constitutional free speech.  But that goes with just about every workplace in the United States.  Walk up to an authoritative figure at your workplace and call him/her what Kobe called the official and see what happens.. and when you are no longer employed, come back and defend Kobe.

Secondly, it takes just under 16 minutes of game (not minutes played) for Kobe to cover that $100k.  It takes the average U.S. Citizen 9 hours to cover a $200.00 speeding ticket.  Relativity my friend.

Kobe is lucky he is Kobe... 98 of 100 players would most likely have been given a 2nd technical, ejected and suspended along with that fine.

Normally I'd call you a name simply for defending a Laker... but you are one ignorant person (mod-edit, distasteful-please no name calling) for defending Kobe's remarks.

    Now back on topic...

Of course Nate got fined.  He knew he would and knew he deserved it.  He publicly accused the officials of unfairly calling the game and giving Dallas an advantage.  Whether he did it directly or indirectly, whether or not it was justified... he still broke the rules.

Is it a good rule?  I think it is.  You can't have 15 players and coaching staff ripping the referee crew every time they lose a game.  There are ways to call attention to it without going public.

The real problem is that when you don't take it public, Stern and the NBA can just wipe it under the rug and call it a day without looking bad.  Breaking this rule and taking the fine seems to be the only way to hold the NBA and its officials accountable.  That is the issue that needs to be addressed.

History shows that taking the fine does some good.  If it didn't, you'd see less coaches doing it.  And guess what... we coincidentally get Joey Crawford's crew for Game 2.  Regardless, we are going to still have to play a full 48 minutes and get the contributions from the players we expect them from in order to win.

Now Mr. Blazers and Us, the REAL question is...Will George Karl's be fined for making identical comments in his Game 1 press conference?

So other than the fact that you went off on a rant on me before i said anything is one problem.
but man do you need to get laid...like big time. geeeesshhhh

first off i am not defending him in anyway, what he said was wrong, i only wish he had said it to you ......

but the fact that they fine the lakers  VERY LARGE AMOUNTS is equally as unfair as what Kobe said. So please forgive me if you are too blind to see that, but dont mind me and my shedding light.......

second, who are you the people's court? no one gives a damn about how long its going to take to pay off a speeding ticket. why dont you help me find out how much my possession ticket is going to be>? huh?

third.  The only person who can say if Kobe is lucky or not, is himself./ i mean look at how big of an @$$ you think he is? at what cost does his glory come at?

Fourth and finally, please look up ignorant and read then re-read the definition because your insult lacks context.

but hey great pep talk? :D
    thanks for nothin.

NBA is a business. Why would they allow a team to advance in the playoffs that will hurt ratings? When airing televised games, they sell out commercial space and charge a certain amount. Now, if Blazers were to advance, the companies who bought the ad space would get ripped off because the ratings wouldn't be as high.... Even in the WCF in 2000 ~ 2001. I remember watching that game when I was 11 or 12 and thinking to myself terrible officiating...

Look at the Nuggets and OKC series. Game 1.... The offensive goal tending where within the last minute, the OKC player went through the net, to the rip and tipped in a ball... LESS THAN 2 MINUTES AND NOT EVEN A REVIEW?

I'm going to make a bold statement. The NBA is very fixed and they only want teams to advance who will get ratings. Did anybody watch the Suns or Rockets playoffs the past 2 years? Enough said.

because last year the suns played the blazers and the year before that, the rockets played the blazers....

    hahahah
you and i both know that the NBA is not fixed, some teams just suck others are unlucky. fans are the ones who color in between the lines and their the ones who draw the conclusions.

It can't be "fixed."  What it is, is steered.  If you don't see that then you're either naive or foolin' yourself.

Sanders better shotblocker, better dunker and around the rim, Asik better defensively. I think Asik will have the better career.
