Should Coach McMillan Rest A Lot Of His Starters Against Golden State?

Preview: No Ellis When Trail Blazers Close Regular Season In Oakland
In the meantime, Portland (48-33) will try to split the series against the Golden State Warriors (35-46) in a back-to-back and close the regular season Wednesday at Oracle Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
After clinching the sixth today against the Grizzlies, the Trail Blazers head to the Bay Area for one final dress rehearsal before the playoffs begin this weekend. Although there is nothing to play for, Portland will still look to exact some revenge for the beat-down Golden State handed them in the Rose Garden the week prior. And it is always a good move to stay sharp heading into the postseason. If any rotation players sit, they could be looking at a five-six day layoff in-between games. But there is always the chance of risking injury. Which way will Coach McMillan lean? For the Warriors, Monta Ellis is out after being taken the hospital after taking a hard fall earlier this week and Steph Curry is a game-time decision after tweaking an ankle. More important to the Trail Blazers on Wednesday will be the results of the Lakers, Mavericks & Thunder games.

Give Miller and LA a combined total of one minute, to get credit for playing a majority of the season.  Camby and Wallace need to rest.   There is nothing to play for except to flex out muscles with our bench.  Do what SAS did to us.  Make a "big game" into a "must win" for the Warriors.  I'd also like to see Roy run this bench team.  He needs to get comfortable.  We need to give him minutes.  Win or loss, doesn't matter to me.  Last season I thought it mattered with chemistry, but right now the team is playing well, and I don't have a concern.  Play for fun.  We don't want to lose a series after working this hard to get one due to injury like what happened last season with Brandon.

I say let the starters start to work up a little sweat to stay in rhythem (since it will be a few days before they play again) but pull them early and let the second unit work up a sweat. Then let some of the younger guys in for the majority of the game working with the second and third unit.

Rest some of the starters.  I think the bench will surprise everyone. Win or lose.
Time they get their feet wet in a big way.

Even with Monta Ellis out of the lineup, the Warriors are still a dangerous team, and seeing as this is the last game of the regular season, a win would give the Blazers momentum going into the First Round of the Playoffs.
I am a fan of the team with the brightest future, and wins more games than they lose.

I like what Nate did.  Not only did the starters get rest, but they watched the Maverick and Laker game to do their own scouting.  Very nice.  Let's BEAT THE MAVERICKS!!!

While I understand his wanting to give the big guys a rest and not risk any injuries, I am NEVER a fan of not playing to win, and I do not feel they played to win last night.  There is such a think as pride in your game and your effort, and by not doing what he needed to do to win this game I think McMillan did the fans a big disservice, and did not show US the respect that we show to them all year

Well it all depends on what you use that cap space for doesn''t it sign Tony Allen and now your Batum for Dunleavy trade just became Batum for Dunleavy and Tony Allen and starts looking a lot better

Larry Sanders is not huge nor is Serge Ibaka. Noel will add muscle on his frame because all NBA players do plus his body fat is around 5% so he can bulk up some. If he can get up to around 230 he will be fine playing center in the NBA otherwise he...
