Known as one of best big men in European history, he made an additional name for himself here in the United States with the NBA. Recognized as one of the greatest passing centers of all time, he also would be named the Euroleague’s Most Valuable Player and was a two-time European Player of the Year.
What your favorite Sabonis memory? The countless behind the back passes were jaw dropping. The way he palmed the ball like it was an orange and waved it around, allowing any pass to be completed. But one of my personal favorite moments was him during the 2003 playoffs against Dallas. He was gassed, body broken down, but he still gutted that series out. He was a huge reason why we came back from 0-3 to force a Game 7. And of course, there's the MONSTER jam over Shaq in the 2000 WCF!

His all around game was fun to watch and if you played with him you better be ready at all time for a pass.  His game was over the top. Wish we could have had him
about 5 years before we did as I feel we could have logged some championships.

He was one of the first blazers I remember when I was younger. Him and Scotty. Sabonis is on the like top 10 all time best European players list. He deserves his hall of fame debut.

Still a little upset he was never able to come over during the Drexler years due to complicated issues with the then-Soviet Union. I think we are the team that 3 peats in the early 90's, not Chicago.

Clyde you so nailed it about Sabas not joining the early 90's squad, but as I remember it he COULD have joined the team if he wanted to but he chose to play in Spain for more money.

One of my favorite clips of Sabas' talent.  Yes, that's him making a young David Robinson look like a fool lol.

I dare you not to crack up at :48.  I'm 99.9% sure he just did the robot at that official.  Congrats Arvydas!  One of my all time favorite players to wear a Blazer jersey.

I agree we shoud have got him about 5-7 years  sooner. What year was he originally drafted by Portland, and wasn't his not coming here originally because of complications with the Soviet Union, not playing for more money in Spain?

He is also the greatest 3 point shooter at center in NBA history. I remember him when he was young playing for the Soviets. He was like a man among boys.

i used to think all big men could shoot like that, i grew up with shooting threes and crazy passes from watching sabis. when i was like 12 or so i went to a game and got to high five the players as they came out for warm up, the only players that actually did it tho was sabis and pippen. everybody else kept their arms crossed. for some reason thats the only part of the night i remember except that it was sabis's birthday

if we have no.10 pick still, i like to draft mccollum or shabazz. mccollum can take over PG when damian is resting and he can score quite well. shabazz can score, but he is lazy to defend. so it hard to decide to draft. i think mccollum is the choice...

I would agree LMA is a decent defender but his help defense and team defense needs a lot of work. It is in these areas that Bosh really separates himself from LMA and it is because of that he is a better player than LMA despite not putting the sam...

I was looking at some shooting stats and came across a very very alarming stat. LMA was the league leader in FGA from 16-23 feet. Not only was he the leader he was lead by a mile. His 7.3 attempts from this distance easily outpaced Demar Derozan w...

Sug I would start with him outscoring Wesley Matthews. He also needs to get his FTA up and his FG% up and cut down the turnovers.

His defense was decent last year but not that good as he is either too weak or just unwil...
