After dispatching the Thunder, 98-91, on Friday night, the Trail Blazers catapulted back into 6th place out West, setting up a what would be a playoff preview Sunday at the Rose Garden with the Dallas Mavericks. In the process of last night's win, Portland ran their home winning streak to 7, a good omen seeing as four of their last six games are at home. Although they dropped the first two meetings of the season to Dallas, Portland rebounded back on March 15th for a 104-101 victory.

One area for concern has been early defense for the Trail Blazers and it really started the last time these teams met up. Portland allowed Dallas to shoot 100% through the first six minutes of the game and 59.% overall. Last night, they allowed well over 70% for the 1st quarter before clamping down. I'm not sure the team can continue to win this way, because defense is a 48 minute battle. Outside of defense, Portland needs to continue to ride the L-Train to the winner's circle. Back on the 15th, he dropped 30, out-dueling Dirk Nowitzki in the effort. While it's true Portland needs other scorers to step up, if Aldridge isn't rolling, the chances for a Blazer win decrease exponentially.

I don't care who starts, but I would put Batum on Kidd or Terry and Wallace on Dirk, so I think the new starting lineup shouldn't be in this game.

Mavs have been choking as of late, and haven't won against a playoff team in awhile. I don't think they've won a game against a playoff team since we last beat them. So, I'm feeling pretty good about this one. Just look at the scouting tapes for that LA game lol.

Starting Camby showed no positive effect at all from what we had been doing. Batum simply had a couple of bad games (offensively speaking) and he needs to be more offensive minded. I would go back to the way we had it.

I think Camby should come off the bench untell he finds his rythm, untell then leave Batum in the starting lineup because of his Great defense and offense. Blazers win 96-90

I'd love to see one more go with the previous starting line-up. I'm not willing to deem it a failure after one quarter. Frankly, the only blemish on it was the lopsided rebounding. Sometimes teams are just hot. There's no excuse for getting slaughtered on the boards like that though. If they can reign in the rebounding then I approve of wallace/camby/aldridge. Truth is that it depends entirely on the opponent. I don't think Portland needs to start as their biggest against Dallas to compete but it might be enough to tip the opening quarter in Portland's favor.

This game is going to do a lot to determine Portland's playoff rotation in my opinion.

Mavs embarrassingly lost tonight. They're on a horrible streak. So, we're catching them at a bad time, and need to capitalize on it. Show them that they're going to be a first round exit if they play the Portland Trail Blazers

I voted to start MC. The ONLY downside I see to having Camby in the starting line-up is how much easier it then becomes for Portland's opponent to then load up defensively on LA, with Marcus not being a threat offensively. Shifting focus from Camby to Batum, I think anytime you can get nearly 20 from Nic and get the kind of D from him he is capable of playing, isn't it wise to consider leaving him in that 6th man role? Maybe this will get his motor going, get him playing more aggressively and with purpose?

In short, I am supportive of any move coach makes that results in consistent offensive production from any Blazer not named Aldridge.

Make no mistake. Tonight will be a war. Dallas is on a skid and will be very hungry...possibly even a bit chippy. The Blazers will have to come out and match their intensity at both ends in order to keep pace. As I've said (DHawes22 as well) LA's play is the key from here on out...specifically, his effectiveness in the paint.

I'd like to start Crash. Dallas played against one of the fastest teams last night, and is on a road trip. I believe this is the 4th stop of their trip, and 4 games in 6 nights (both being back to back scenarios). Get a lead and get it early. Use this scenario to the advantage.

This is actually the final game of a six game road trip for Dallas. They won the first three of the trip but have lost the last two. Unless they get some miracle second wind the Mavs should be suckin' air tonight.

Denver and LA about to tip off on ABC. Pretty huge game for both teams.

What happened last time we played the Mavs, we won.

I say change nothing, but adapt should the course of events suggest otherwise.

After all, tonight's game is likely to be a preview of the Blazers' first Round of the Playoffs. Hit 'em now and make them smart for it.
