Is this the biggest game remaining on Portland's schedule?
    YES (15)
     56%
    NO (12)
     44%

This is quite possibly the biggest game remaining on Portland's schedule. A win and a comfy, two-game lead over New Orleans for the 6th spot out West. A win also ties up the season series at 2, which means the tiebreaker goes to the squad with the better conference record, which the Trail Blazers would win (19 losses to 21). But, a loss gives the Hornets the season series win (3-1), ties the Trail Blazers in the loss column and makes it a mad dash for #6 in April. The Hornets will be without David West, who's lost for the year with a torn ACL. And even with smaller crowds, the Hornets play extremely well at home, posting a 24-11 record.

For Portland to win, they must, must, must rebound the basketball. I'm sure the stats say both road games prior to this matchup were close on the boards, but it felt like, esp. against the Thunder, that we just couldn't grab the key defensive rebounds. Although West is out, the Hornets swing a deal for hard-working forward, Carl Landry at the deadline, whom the Blazers know all to well from his days as a Rocket. This may be a game where the guards need to chip in and help out on the glass, because Marcus and Gerald can't grab them all. Finally, do not let CP3 beat you. We bottled him up back on the 16th of February to the tune of 8 points, 5 assists & forcing 4 turnovers.

I feel if we win this game we will have the 6 seed. I know theres some games left, but i just have that feeling, LA needs to have an inprint on this game I have a feeling he's going to have a dominate game because of the magnetude of this game and of course we contain the head of the snake CP3 we will win.

I voted yes because every game from here on out is the most important game of the season/post season. We cannot afford any more games like the one we had last night. That being said I do not think we have seen this team at its best since picking up Gerald Wallace and that should make the other teams very afraid.
Nate also needs to incorporate Chris Johnson into the line up, his aversion to not play rookies needs to stop and he needs to give Lamarcus a break during the games. It is starting to wear on him, you can tell, even the announcer commeted on it during the Spurs game.

    Toby's keys to game:

    • Stop Fast break points: Hornets like to fire 3's on the break
    • Free throw battle: Nothin' easy, foul 'em if you have to
    • Assists: You know CP3 brings a bag of dimes to every game. Sharing is caring

It's not the biggest game, but that doesn't mean we don't need a win.

Agree with Herr, I don't know if there is "a biggest game"  They all are must win right now.  I am aware of they're being right behind us in the standings but all the games are crucial in these times.

Finishing in the 6 spot can't and won't happen without a win tonight.  A Hornets win all but guarantees Portland will land in the 7th or 8th seed.  The April 12th date with Memphis in the RG gets my vote for biggest game, as it will determine the Blazers first round opponent.

In light of LA's statements yesterday and seeing Luke Babbitt called up, I'm not sure that seeding is as important now as entering the post season with a healthy Aldridge.  Fact is, Portland has no hopes of any success in the post-season without being able to run the offense thru LA, inside-out, no matter who their opponent.

They're all big but this one has some immediately tangible rewards.  The only game from here on out with a bigger reward than tonight will be the one that secures a playoff spot.  Hornets have given Portland a couple bad thumpings this season.  I'd like to see the guys come out with a dominant victory and then some big ass grins on the flight home.

I wanna' see forced turnovers and lopsided rebounds in favor of Portland.  Those two elements of their game are huge considering their FG% is so low.  Anything that will soften the blow of that FG%!

This game will be played with playoff intensity (or should be) from BOTH sides.  If Portland cannot establish LA in the paint, it will be a long night.  While the Hornets rank at the bottom of the league in several of the most important categories, they rank FOURTH in points against.  Inside-out and through LA in the post will get it done.  Miller will come up HUGE tonight.

Well, this road tripped made me re-realize that the NBA is full of crap.  We could be better than the Lakers but we won't beat them, especially if we got refs being this bad against the HORNETS.  13 more FTA throughout the entire game.  That just sucks.  We were more aggressive, they just called it soft, and on one side of the court.  We lost our 11 point lead because the Hornets gained momentum shooting FTs they got from our side of the court.  Lot of bad, soft calls in the middle of it.

After that, the Blazers planted themselves in the hole the refs dug up by taking stupid jumpshots and not going after the rebound.  This is getting too pathetic.  1st round exit regardless of who we play, so let's just fight the Lakers so we learn what it's liked.  Seem to have happened to OKC.  Oh wait, nvm, they get more ref help than LA.

LA not being able to get it done in the paint tonight, in THIS game, with all of its implications, is truly troubling.  Without some sort of post play, this team is as spent and "gassed" as Aldridge himself.  While Wallace does give the Blazers another dimension, a slasher and a player who can create with the bounce, as a group they are still predominantly streaky jumpshooters.  No post play means first round exit, likely a sweep.  Before blaming Nate, consider what he doesn't have to work with.

I'm wondering why Mills who was on fire played so little. Ya ya defensive liability, but someone who is shooting as good as he was is more helpful than hurting. I don't care who it is, if someone is on fire, then they are on fire and should be playing. Ya Patty is inconsintent but he should be allowed to play when he is feeling it, Likewise if he is having an off night, let him sit. The hot hand should be playing and have the ball in his hands until he goes cold no matter how deep in the rotation he is.

I'm starting to wonder if Aldridge is playing more on the perimeter because he's trying to conserve for the playoffs.

I'm also getting really disappointed with the lack of calls in favor of Wallace.  How many times did he collide with bodies mid air while driving to the basket and not get the call?  Dude puts his body on the line every single game and is rarely rewarded for it.  If it's this frustrating for me to watch I can't even imagine how much it pisses him off.

Mills was brilliant in his time on the floor.  My first instinct was to wonder why he wasn't out there in crunch time but Miller also had a fabulous game outside of one key FT and the TO that killed it.

It was good to see Aldridge on the glass again.  Glad he was hitting his jumper most of the night.  I was not thrilled when he fired up the last three.  Wasn't disappointed he shot in that situation but the ball really should have ended up in somebody else's hands on that play.

Here comes the big homestand.  Crunch time.

    Very dissappointing and discouraging loss.
This one loss could  end up meaning a first round exit if we have to face San antonio or Los Angeles.
Getting the 6th seed is HUGE!
