Who should defend Westbrook the majority of the time?
    Andre Miller (3)
     8%
    Wesley Matthews (13)
     36%
    Nicolas Batum (14)
     39%
    Gerald Wallace (6)
     17%
    Patty Mills (0)
     0%

After the improbable finish that was against the Spurs, Portland takes their show on the road for their last extended road trip of the season, starting in Oklahoma City Sunday night. Although OKC has a 2-0 lead in the season series (wins @PDX on Nov. 4th, 107-106 OT and @OKC on Nov. 12th, 110-108), both teams have changed significantly. Gone from the Thunder are Jeff Green and Nenad Kristic and replaced by Nazr Mohammed and Kendrick Perkins. Portland lost Joel Przybilla and Dante Cunningham, but gained Gerald Wallace. This is a potential 1st round matchup if the Trail Blazers can move up into the 5 slot, so look for this game to be a pretty big measuring stick.

With the addition of Perkins, Portland no longer has the size advantage they once had down low, but Portland can still win the battle in the paint. While Perkins and Ibaka are beasts defensively, they leave a lot to be desired on the offensive end of the floor. This is where the Blazers can take advantage with Gerald Wallace and LaMarcus Aldridge. They'll most likely play LA straight up, so Coach McMillan must find multiple ways to get the Blazer big involved.  The other key matchup is Miller vs. Westbrook. In the 2 prior games, Westbrook has been the difference, not Durant, by averaging 32 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists. Look for Portland to defend Russell, the way they did with Parker: throwing multiple sets and defenders at him the entire night.

I don't care what happens.  Just win.  Do it for Japan.  Do it for B-Roy jr.  Do it for me.  Do it for Portland!   Let's show them why it rains in Portland without any Thunder.

wesbrook really worries me.  He's the main reason why I'd rather us face the mavs than the thunder in the playoffs, because we will probably need to put Batum on him which meens that when wallace needs a breather we will have to put Matthews on Durrant.  I think we match up better with the thunder after the wallace trade since now we have someone else to put on Durrant while Batum is on Westbrook but when one of them goes out westbrook will either beat us with his speed and athletisism or Durrant will beat us by using his size advantage over Matthews.

Try to keep Westbrook out of the paint and off the boards and make him shoot perimeter, hopefully LA can have a good game but he struggles against Ibaka because of his length so LA has to mix it up, and please play some D the playoff teams are shooting light out FG% against us the spurs shoot over 70% in the 4th, but I know we will bring the D and get a win.

On another note Happy 21 B-Day Herr

My favortie part was when Thunder had 26 personal fouls and Portland only shot 24 FTs.  My second favorite part was when Blazers had 16 personal fouls and OKC shot 29 FTs.

    *insert officiating rant here*

I'm so tired of watching Portland, particularly Aldridge as of late, get hammered every game and not get to the line.  Yes, I realize Blazers had 24 FTs this game but in all honesty it should have been 40.  Portland doesn't do a lot of cutting to the basket in traffic and that keeps them off the line a lot but they were PLOWING the lane all game and barely getting calls.  Not a crushing or heartbreaking defeat by any stretch.  Mostly irritating.  Bring on the Spurs.

    2 plays I'll mention.

Score is 82-82.  Blazers in a run to tie it.  OKC is 1-7 in the quarter.  Wallace strips Durant, grabs the ball, and has full possession.  However, once the ball is confirmed in Wallace's hand, a foul is called and Durant gets 2 FTs, putting OKC up by 2 and ending the Blazer run.

88-92, Perkins CLEARLY hits Wallace's hand.  No foul call, the ball rims out and Andre gets rebound.  Andre, trying to put it back in, is clearly pushed in the back by Serge Ibaka.  Again, no foul called.  Serge tips it out to Westbrook for an easy lay in, in a 4 point turn around.  If Wallace had made the basket, we would be looking at a different result.  If the foul was called, even with the miss, we could be looking a different result. But no.

This is the 2nd time OKC gets a free win and the Blazers get a tough "loss" because of poor officiating.

Ironically it comes from Monty McCutchen, who officiated game 4 of the 09 series (and we all know how that went).

On officiating:  Don't put the officials in a position to have an impact on the outcome of the game by playing close, especially on the road.  This will be the result more times than not.

Watch this game again and count how many turnovers Wallace forced with his defense.  If he had been awarded a steal for every forced turnover, GW would have finished this game with some gaudy numbers.  Any number of THOSE calls could have gone either way.

Everybody knows the officials work that way TayC.  That's the problem.  They shouldn't.  A foul is a foul regardless of who's up or where they're playing.  There's shouldn't be these unrwritten bs rules of officiating.  Especially because they're so damn inconsistant with them.  Like rewarding teams who drive to the basket with FTs when they're fouled.  Or make-up calls.  None of that stuff should exist.  If you see it, call it without hesitation.  As an official, you're job is not to be liked.  It's not to be fair.  It is to officiate.

Personally, if I was brought on as the new commish in the NBA I would terminate half the officials, hire new ones and make mandatory vision and physical fitness testing once a year.  Also I'd have the "minions" sit in a dark room crunching the numbers of every official's calls looking for statistical biases.

Players should dictate all aspects of the game from it's onset to it's outcome.  An official is the enforcer of the rules.  If a player breaks a rule, it's not the official swaying the outcome of the game by blowing his whistle, it's the damn player who committed the infraction.  My problem is that offials DO impact the outcome of any game.  The players should determine it through action every night.  Sadly, the officials are able to to determine the outcome of a game through extra action and inaction.  By not making obvious calls, the officials dictate the end result of a game that should be determined by the players on the court.  By blowing the whistle for make-up calls, they do the exact same thing.  Every single action they take OUTSIDE OF UNBIASED CALLS has an impact on the outcome of the game.

For the record, I like ya' Tay.  Even if I disagree with half the crap you say, you don't mince anything.

PS:  Clyde was still a better athlete than LeBron, but LeBron has a better bitter-beer face.

Nicholsan will be a solid player. Hes the new leagues Brandon Bass lol...funny Magic drafted him... He would have been a good back up to LA but would have been dumb at 11

Lamb, Harkless, Henson would have been great...

Henson will be solid down the road but his ceiling is more like Taj Gibson. He is a great role player but not elite like Sanders and Ibaka could be if people were not so willing to shoot on him.
