    From Portland Tribune-
Wallace Still Adjusting To Blazer Life
Wallace sat down with the Portland Tribune for a question-and-answer session regarding his 3 1/2 weeks in a Blazer uniform.

Tribune: How was it to get your first start?

Wallace: I felt good about it. But I was still kind of out of rhythm a little bit. It’s an adjustment. Other than that, it was fun to be a starter again.

Tribune: You were a starter for all of your 6 1/2 seasons with the Bobcats. Then you get to Portland, and you’re coming off the bench. How was that?

Wallace: It’s totally different. (As a starter), you’re in tune. For me personally, I try to sense the pace from the game at the start. Coming off the bench, the pace of the game is already pretty much set. You have to adjust to that. It’s totally a different mindset.

Tribune: How do you think you have played for the Blazers so far?

Wallace: I’ve played all right. I haven’t played up to my potential, but I’ve done OK. I’ve done some good things, and I’ve done some bad things.

Tribune: At your opening press conference you mentioned you were glad to be coming to a championship contender. Do you still feel that way?

Wallace: I think so. We have some nice pieces here. But when I say championship contender, I’m not talking about this year. We have maybe eight or nine of the guys who are under 26 or 27, and it’s a good core of players. I’m not saying we can win a championship this year, but we can surely fight for one. And we’ll see what the future holds for us after that.

It's good to here that he views us as a title contender in the future. I wonder what pieces we'd need to push us over the team outside of a healthy Oden?

In my humble opinion, the only piece left is a dominating inside presence who intimidates on defense and allows LMA to easily mix his outside game with his back to the basket game. Of course that assumes that Nate can hold BRoy to his allotted minutes and Brandons knees hold up.  I am really no longer as concerned about the point guard position.  If we could get a Chris Paul or other young point distributor that would be great but I also believe that Batum could work on being a "point forward" and fill in around the edges some. Wesley may also fill the role of distributor if asked to develop that area. Now we just need a Bynum/Perkins/Howard type to clog the middle.
I am a fan of cheering our hardworking Blazer team to a championship!

I'm sure we're keeping Miller, but once we get Oden playing we're at that level.

The Blazers were winning!  That is the key word, were.  Blazers are living proof that you can live and die by the jumper.  Lately it has been dying.

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...

Yeah and now Blazers have zero interest in Bynum. I really thought he was worth the small risk. If anything he would be at the end of our bench and we use him as a sub. Hopefully we do make some type of trade for a quality back up center. Right no...
