Kevin Love stat padding streak is over.

    6 points and 12 rebounds.  1-6 shooting and 4-6 FTs.  Appears the Wolves were sick of force feeding him for stats.

    Anyways, I read this very interesting post on NBA.com Fanvoice.  I'll repost it here.

    "8.8 Offensive Win Shares

    Kevin Love leads the league in Offensive Win Shares on a team that has won just 17 games.  That means that his offense alone has won 51.8% of his team's games for them.  

    To put this into perspective, Michael Jordan's best season in terms of win shares was in 87-88, where he had 15.2.  This equates to 30.4% of his team's wins with his offense alone.  If you throw in his defense, then he alone won 42.4% of his team's games.  So the question that this raises is whether or not you actually believe that Love's offense alone is far more valuable than Jordan's overall play.  

    Some other notable seasons of Win Shares/Team record:

    Wilt Chamberlain:  52.0% in 63-64
    Kareem Abdul Jabbar:  40.3% in 71-72
    Oscar Robertson:  37.5% in 63-64

    So he barely comes in second to Chamberlain, with considerable leads over every other great NBA player.  And the sad part is that when you throw in Love's 2.8 Defensive Win Shares, he has over 65% of his team's wins (Which blows everybody out of the water).  So to clarify, his offense ALONE is second only to Chamberlain's combination of offense and defense.   

    So yeah, it's pretty obvious that his stats are skewed as hell.  He helps his team out, but he also hurts them in a lot of other areas that don't hurt him on the stat sheet.  He is a pitiful defender, he is inefficient, and he is only this good statistically because of Minnesota's league leading pace and his teamates'/coaches appearant satisfaction with him losing games for them.... I know that they are getting some attention because of him, but they aren't going to be a winning team with him doing what he is doing now. 

    So I guess the point is that people should stop trying to make Love's season into some historic event because there is no way around it:  The guy is a pretty big statpadder."

    i kinda feel bad for him he doesnt get  attention for that damn streak

    statpacker or not. overrated or not. bottom line is he gives all he has to rebound the ball. offensive boards dont come easy. hes averaging nearly 5 offensive boards a game. yeah you can make excuses as to why and come to conclusions as to why he has the stats he does.

    but the bottom line is he hussles to do one of the most important things in the game. rebound. no it doesnt give you sports center highlights. nor are you going to be kobe making a game winning shot. but anyone who rebounds like he does. deserves come credit. he hurts his team in other areas but so do 90% of the players in the NBA.

    but yes. he plays poor defence at best.

    Let me know if you ever seen Love go for a block.  The leagues best rebounders also happen to be the best defenders.  A lot of rebounds Love gets happens because he doesn't go up for a block.  No doubt he's great at offensive boards, and he knows how to box out, but a lot of his defensive boards are because he watches the ball rather than going to block it.  He may be the worse defender at his position.

    Are you telling me the son of ex nba player, nephew of beach boys singer Mike Love..Mr Kevin Love streak has ended? Haha...gotta love it Herr.

    Well oh well...guess we wont have to hear about it all the time now, that will be nice. Hopefully growing up in the slums of Lake Oswego has toughen him up and he can stay strong and move on.........his defense sucks and he plays too "soft"...He has gotten way more attention to other forwards in this league,like LA and Lamar Odom, who impress me more. Its been nice to see LA destroy him this year though.

    Didnt Mr. Lake Oswego have a chance to play for Oregon, same college his dad played? Awww yes...but good ol southern california sun and more media attention makes UCLA a better spot I guess. Hes already been in couple tv shows, is there anything that hasnt been handed to him?? Nice to have connections. Are the Wolves going to playoffs this year?....ohh no..guess not..ouch..who cares though..hes accomplished some personal goals this year! :)

    It was my understanding he could have gone to Oregon but his Dad thought he would get better exposure in California.   His draft by Minnesota  is what the exposure did for him.  Rebounds, in my opinion, would not be that hard to get when the team he on is in the bottom half of the NBA standings.

    honestly this is worse than the ref conspiracy.
    like in a nutshell are you basically saying Love plays for his own stats?

    And here is another thing Herr, If love was Responsible for 58%+ of his teams wins this season....and you are still sitting there wondering why he made it into the ASG........

    Love may play for a bad team and he may know it and not want to make a change, but he stills plays as hard as he can, he still had a 30-30 game, and he is still the main focus of that team, so if there is any one who should be complaining about Kevin Love........ it should be Kevin Love.....

    Im not impressed with Gortat. Everyone wants him but he seems mediorcre to me. He is the most realistic option since all it would take is the 10th pick, but I think he is old and declining.
