Wallace showed what he can do when hes comfortable vs the heat. He said he wants to be a starter and said he is more comfortable starting. Let Batum com off the bench and have Wallace start. Maybe a little before the playoffs Roy could get back in the starting lineup.

I don't think it matters if he starts or not as long as he gets starting minutes. We should be giving him 30 minutes a game at least but he's the type of player who does fine no matter who he is playing with, and Batum seems to do better with our starting unit so I think we might be better with Wallace just being our go to bench player.

If it was still early in the season he probably would, but the chemistry in the first unit is set and wallace brings energy of the bench and he fits bettter with the second unit with Roy, Patty & Rudy.

@bonjustin8 Just read the article you posted. Are you saying Wallace should start because he put up good numbers and can play against some of the best in the league (just like the rest of the Blazers mind you) or because he is a little butt-hurt that he got dealt by Charlotte?

All im saying is wallace has earned a starting role. he is was an allstar last year and he has been the face of a franchise for seven years. Then he randomly gets traded and becomes a role player/sixth man. probly a hard transition. Personally i think Portland could make the transition a little easier by letting him start. CarlJ1 you said that he fits better with the second unit. how do you know he hasnt played much with the first unit. also Batum plays well with the second string guys also so i think if Wallace and Batum switched starting roles the chemistry the first string guys have wont be affected too much. Whatever Nate decides to do i will be happy with but i just posted this to say i fell Wallace deserves to start and he should.

I still say leave the starting lineup alone for now. The starting lineup is doing great and with a bench that includes Wallace and Roy, well there aren't many teams that have a second unit like we do.

Making the transition easy for Wallace is all well and good, but that does not matter. What matters to the franchise is getting as far as they can (keep up a winning streak, make it more than one round into the play offs etc). Not making Wallace a happy boy. The starting lineup is doing great things for the team. Let Wallace be a bench player and not rock the starting lineup boat.

I am a fan of this team. no matter what happens.

Personally, I like Batum starting and Wallace finishing games. Nic does better in the starting role and Wallace has shown no signs of his game declining when he comes off of the bench. Wallace and Roy give us a great 1-2 punch on the 2nd unit and really it's not about starting, its about finishing and that's what Crash is doing right now.

I think the teams chemistry was messed when the whole trade for wallace went down,

what concerns me is that Wallace already feels betrayed by his own team dropping their best player for a random two players......but if you refuse to start him?
Oh man that is just going to make it worse!
I think that you should move Camby to come off the bench because Aldridge can play the Center, he basically is a center as much as this team fails to recognize it.
Keep Camby comin off the bench to at least bring depth to Roy rudy and Patty, they are already lacking the height, but what i do favor in that group is speed, so with Rudy and Patty in transition they are going to need someone to Oop it to, give em camby

I think we as fans get too caught up in titles. In the big Miami win, Wallace played 35 minutes to Nic's 22...but didn't start. I like the rotations right now, and for me, it's about who is best playing with who. The Wallace/Roy combo seems to work well. NIc and his inconsistencies on that second unit would scare me.

I don't see the problem with a better player getting benched. Batum is a skilled player who has potential to be unleashed. Do you guys think if Batum gets benched he will still continue to progress as fast as he would coming off the bench? No.

Also, Nicolas Batum turns the ball over an average of 1 time per game. With a career average of 0.8. This fits into Nate's style of coaching very well. Wallace is averaging 2.1 turnovers. On top of Batum (the starter) handling the ball well, Wallace gives the bench a much needed energy boost. I was listening to 95.5 and another point worth mentioning was how Roy needs a more skilled supporting cast to make himself better. By lowering the skill level of our bench, this hinders Roy's talent even more. Nate is all about balance and Blazers are DEEP! Who cares who starts? Pay attention to who finishes. Wallance. On top of who finishes the game, consider the minutes between the two. Crash is getting a lot more playing time.

There is a lot more to starting then who are the top 5 scorers. GW still doesn't know Nates offense, situational plays, or defense for that matter. And its about which 5 can run together the best. To find that out, we need time. Sadly time is not on our side. We have a little more then a month...and thats it...Lets hope for the best.

Bench batum and turn him into the next Travis Outlaw, i used to think outlaw was more notorious than batum
