I'm a fan of basketball and the Portland Trail Blazers, but I absolutely HATE the NBA and their BS.  Every year something that just makes me shake my head comes up and somehow surprises me that they'd be so biased.

First, Blake Griffin won the dunk contest far before it started.  The saddest part is that it was no surprise.

Secondly, LaMarcus' snub of the ASG got worse when the people that placed over him, besides Pau Gasol, were absolutely horrible in the game and had no impact on the West's win what so ever,  and the fact LMA wasn't picked is just a slap to the face of fans of the game.

Third, on NBA.com right now it says that last night proved Kobe is the best player?  Really?  I watched the game and it just looked like he was the only one to take winning seriously because he wanted MvP.  He ballhogged the whole night and the only players taking shots was Durant and Kobe.  Those two did a bulk of the shooting and scoring.  Meanwhile LeBron James got a near triple double while Kobe only had 3 assists.

I'm getting really sick of the NBA being so biased and trying to force their beliefs upon us to get more money for the money makers in the league.  If anyone watched the dunk contest, you'll know that Blake Griffin absolutely sucked compared to the other contestants, and wasn't living to the hype at all.  Afterwards, the main page had an article called "Believe the hype".  Yeah right, I've never seen such irony in my life!

Paul Allen should take his team out of the NBA and join a better league.  That'd make me so happy.  I'm getting really sick of how biased and pathetic the NBA is.

I mostly agree with your sentiments, but I do have to say I do love playoff basketball. It seems like all the nonsense of the manufactured "entertainment" takes a break and the real reason I Love basketball gets to be demonstrated. It just sucks it takes so long to get to the best part.

I have voiced my dislike for David Stern on other Posts and I think much of the Cheese and hypocrisy in the league can be laid at his door. I think having a commissioner who has never played one game basketball is bad for the league. In my opinion he has No credibility to be making any decisions about this league and has opened the NBA up to the complete corporate control. Blake jumping over the Kia the "official" car of the nba, the sprite name on the trophies, the constant reference to some corporate shoe company and on and on - it makes a great game boring due to the constant interference by huge Corporate interests. Yeah I'm annoyed by the NBA!!

    really dude? http://www.nba.com/games/20110220/ESTWST/gameinfo.html check that
He had 14 boards... did LeBron? no he had a triple double ill give him that, but kobe had 37 points and ur acting like thats not impressive. He was a ballhog? He shot 14 of 26... ballhog or not thats a great percentage and should be given praise. I don't see the problem. I absolutely hate when people say, "oh well if I took 26 shots I could score that many points too." No, not true. He made it look easy because he is just that good

I agree that all-star weekend is nothing but a popularity contest now.
Originally i only wanted to watch and support Wes$.  CWebb said  "look at those kids, they are having the time of their lives", and they were.  It changed my mind.
The all-star game is all about entertainment. But, there is so much history surrounding the entire weekend. It reminded me why I fell in love with basketball in the first place, in the days of DrJ being my hero.
Kobe played possibly for the last time in LA as an allstar. Duncan may never play another all-star game.
As sick as I am of the Melo-drama/LeBron and Griffin, I ended up watching the entire weekend. It was entertaining.
And a good reminder of the past players.
LA is an allstar, to everyone who matters. I would rather he rested this weekend, and spend time with his family. There are more important things in life than basketball, not many, but some.
There were more young players than in past years. Hopefully in the future, "fans" ( i use that term lightly, since not  all are well informed)  will pick players for what they do that season, not past years. Yao is not the best center in the West, and CP3"s days of being the best pg are behind him as well.
Not sure there is a better league out there. Our time will come again.

I get what you're saying. Stern is an attorney, a marketer, and a d bag. hes screwing it up for sure, but for some weird reason, it makes me into it even more! I always go for the underdog. idk why, just works out that way. i want the blazers to win with this team more than ever. portland fans are for the most part real, as opposed to miami or laker fans who just get off on being on top (front runners). when portland does special things, its always a surprise to everyone but us. i love that about this team. someday the blazers will win it all. its going to be even better because of all the bs we've had to put up with.

1st. other than Ibaka getting snubed in the dunk contest(which happens to someone every year) it was a good show.  javale and demarr didnt win because blake had the creativity and abilitie to pull off the dunks.
2nd.kobe got the MVP because he earned it.  37 and 14 for someone when there knee is bone on bone is extremely impressive.
3rd. the NBA has all those sponsers because that is how they make MONEY.  it is a business you know.
the only thing that i hate is that the refs and the leauge show favoritism to the superstar players. remember the camby foul called for steve nash during the playoffs?

Many people aren't understanding what I'm saying.  I'm not complaining that Kobe won MvP, I'm complaining that the NBA says he is "clearly" the best player, as in we're idiots if we think otherwise.  I never complained about sponsors either, I just think Griffin was the worse dunker out there, and the hype wasn't met, but the NBA tried to save themselves by saying we should "believe the hype".  The dunk contest was one of the best in years, no doubt about that, but he was the worse dunker out there.  If you take away the props that played no role (the choir and the car), than the dunk was a simple alley-oop that anyone in the NBA can do.

@blazersforlife234 - if you look at the box score, you see that Kobe took more shots than over half the team combined.  Him and Durant were both shot jacking.  He never gave any "new guys" an opportunity to play.

I dont watch the all star game. because it is not a real game. It never was intended to be so. It is a showcase of shooting talent and where people who can afford the tickets get autographs and the stars can pat themselves on the back and say man aren't we great now where is my Nike- Pepsi deal. The most important thing about the All star game is the 5 day or so break it gives the teams during this 82 game schedule and it is the start of the run for the playoffs. My feeling is that the all star game should decide who has home court advantage in the finals you would never again see 148-145 scores and there would be a few unknown people out there that can play defense.

dude i think maybe you should njust stop watching basketball if it makes you that angry.
there are some things you can control and then there are some things you can continuously complain about with no intention of ever getting it fixed.
The commentates in NBA games, are allowed to have their opinions, they may not be what you or i agree upon, but two things are certain, you wouldnt appreciate it if people made remarks such as you do if you were in their position, you would find it crude and unnecessary. Two, they have watched a heck of alot more basketball games than you and i combined. But i assume you are talking about when one of them said " Blake Griffin, and LeBron are the best athletes in the NBA" if so yeah, i threw a fit at my house to all my family. Even when one of them tried to say, " i dont think either one are the best player"

Kobe should not have won the MvP, and maybe blake shouldnt of won the dunk contest. But what  i have noticed over the past few years, the all star games and weekends are all about FUN. Its so all those guys can drop the competitive mindsets they maintain all year long. Shaq comin out with Jabawoki's and him and kobe "splitting" the trophy in the 09 ASG. If you watch that game, its all about Kobe and Shaq, the entire time, everyone was so ecstatic they were playing together since LA.
And that is okay, the NBA can do that. It is an evolving organization, like all sorts of other organizations, if you really dont like it. gt-fo you know?
The All star game had 9.1 million viewers, the most since 2003. Blake Griffin is great for the NBA. Seeing as how this organization and the NFL are on the Brink of Lock-outs, I for one would not be okay if the NBA was canceled next season, and if it means having the world fall in love with the Blake show, then thats fine, it doesn't mean you or i have to like it.
If you stop watching the NBA, your life......is going to go on.....the NBA is going to go on.....and if you want to get back into at a later time, then just hope its still around, and hope some group of people who were unhappy with the way things were being run didnt go and ruin the whole things for EVERYONE ELSE!!!!

Then again everyone who isnt a die hard portland blazer fan must be a - Band Waggon Hopping Blake Griffin Subway Sandwich Eating, LeBron James Commercial Loving, Laker 3 peat fan.... hmmm....that does it justice

As far as the dunk contest snubbing goes. I take it none of you watch the " Long Lost dunks" special that was on TV pre game..?
Because I did, and on several occasions it showed how the Best Dunks typically do NOT win.
Ibaka, was not only getting super trashed talked when his name was announced, but some people were like WTF is this guy? I think his dunk should of won, the FT line was super dope, and i think it was 1st try.
But if i were him, i would of saved that as my KO punch, not pull that ish off in the first round and follow it up with the dumbest dunk i have ever seen with biting a bear and setting up that poor child with the worst haircut in the history of hair.

That fool form Washington, who dunked two at once, and then 3 at once, those were amazing. However it took him the entire time to get like each one of his dunks. They were cool, but if you give someone all day and see what they can come up with, you might just be able to dunk 3 balls with only 2 hands!!!!!

Blake, brought out the car(not any car, the car of the NBA!!), in the final round, GOT BARON THROUGH THE ROOF, and nailed it on his first try, in his home court of his teams town, IN HIS FIRST YEAR!
Blake did the entire weekend, to discredit his physical abilities is to lie through ones teeth.
I am a fan of The Blazers ♂, the £-Train, and of course, The ¤ King. ™

Blake Griffin, one of the best in game dunkers... but he sucked it at the dunk contest and had no creativity whatsoever. Derozan and Ibaka were robbed in that first round (just like Rudy was when he was there 2 years ago). It is unbelievable. I thought Javale should have won and Blake shouldnt have even been in the final round at all. Derozans dunks were way harder than Blakes, and that free throw line dunk from Ibaka was pretty amazing, his foot was behind the line! But dunking on two baskets at once with one off the backboard was insane, but who knows who would have really won if they judged it fairly and they didn't let the moronic masses of fans vote for the winner (I heard Yao Ming came in third). Another thing that pissed me off was they started letting people vote before they even did anything in the final round!! So obviously they didn't care who was more creative or technical, it was clearly a popularity contest. Blake jumped over the hood of a car... big deal!! I could ollie over the hood of a car when I skateboarded! That was lame. I bet Nate Robinson could do that too.
I am a fan of comcast and the blazers making deals that keep screwing us over!! woot!
