NBA.com got us ranked 10th in the Power Rankings right below the Memphis Grizzlies who are at 9, but what glares at me the most is the comments they make about us.

The Goal: Re-integrate Brandon Roy and pick up the defense. The Blazers were disgustingly good offensively (119.4) in winning six straight before the break, but their defense hasn't been solid since early January. Portland has been better defensively with Roy, who plans to return Wednesday against the Lakers.

Funny how that works isn't it? Before anyone says it's because Brandon slows down the game...yeah no. We still play pretty damn slow compared to everyone else, as much as everyone likes to think we're a run and gun team we still aren't. We are 28th in the league in offensive pace.

Stand up Brandon haters! I want to see all your comments!

more glaringly they got this wrong because they attributed our defense falling off to brandon when i'm pretty sure it was camby and a thinner bench, but the guy who does the espn rankings is more in touch with the blazers these days and usually gives better comments.

I don't see how we're not part of the hero of the week when we beat the Hornets and are on a 6 game winning streak and played more than 2 games last week.  Not that Chicago doesn't deserve it, it's just we deserve it more.

It's ok Herr the blazers are heros in our hearts. LOL that's so cheesy.

@Lapinnoir those stats are taken throughout the year so Camby's logged time is still put into the stats as well. ;)

No doubt Camby has a huge effect on our defense.  His injury coupled with Joel's prolonged recovery has made a big difference in our defense.
I am a fan of cheering our hardworking Blazer team to a championship!

I'm shuddering at the fact that Roy and Camby come back, and waiting for this whole trade deadline thing to pass and who we get..if anyone notable. Might be thinking too optimistic here, but I think I'm smelling second round.

@Bertram - look at what he wrote about OKC, the Lakers, and the Magic too though. You'll start to see a pattern where when the offense picks up (portland, okc, la) he talks about the defense getting worse, and where when the defense picks up (orlando) he talks about the offense falling off. We already know that's true. Look at all of the Mike D'Antony and Don Nelson teams. In contrast, look at the Portland teams that are just average in scoring, but still geek out 50 wins. I'm far from a Brandon hater and I don't care if we score 110 a game or 85 a game as long as we win, but I think it's an oversimplified conclusion to come to that Brandon is a great defender because our defense isn't as good since he went down. Lots of things have changed, including our offensive production (and philosophy), Camby being there for most of Brandon's games, and him being gone for a lot of the games Brandon was gone, and for some unknown reason, Batum's defense getting weaker. Brandon brings a lot of things to the game, including clutchness, leadership, AND average or slightly above average defense. That's going to be even tougher if his legs always hurt. I still cant wait for him to get back. That's how it looks to me anyway. Am i wrong?

No one is saying he's a great defender...because he isn't consistently. Just laying the facts out there and curious to see reactions. Brandon does bring a lot in all areas of basketball, and I'm itching in anticipation for his return but also got a little sweat rolling down my face because I'm so nervous of the outcome.

word! me too. I hope everything works out with him. Somehow they have to figure out how to keep things rolling and add the good things Brandon does without any drawbacks. It's going to be interesting. I can't wait to see what happens. I hope that guy has years of success ahead of him. Time will tell I guess.

It's almost a given that we are going to slide just a little while we get some cohesiveness back with a return on an impact player. When that happens I'm ready to see people blast Brandon, but then in a few weeks I'm also ready to see this team explode again and expect me to come back ROFLMAOing at all the haters.

i would say way better than Memphis, maybe even tie it up with
ORL, i mean they are a good team this year, and they have statistically led the NBA stats in like offense and defense for consecutive years, but that mid season trade hit the chemistry button hard.

    But the Bulls?
    Whoa!
Can i get a Derrick Rose!

Nah uhhh a defensive center, a backup big either position I don''t care, an experienced wing, without having to give up any draft picks. I''d probably do this but I just don''t know for sure.

I completely agree he could be that voice on the court we need. Lamarcus just isn''t that guy and Damian can learn some on court leadership from him. A small lineup when we need a score bad of Dame, Wes, Paul, Nic, and Lamarcus would be potent.
