Now I may get ripped for this, but we need to trade Travis. Batum can back up Martell next year, or bring in a veteran to back up Martell. But Travis this year proved he can't be what we expected of him....

This is a sentiment shared by many fans. I've known all along Travis was unreliable, and specifically said he would fail to succeed in the playoffs before they began. He's just the type of player that can't be relied upon when it matters most. Just doesn't have the discipline.

Fact is, we could trade him for bag of potato chips and be better off. Although, I'm still hoping KP can get some more considerable value for him. Either way, I think Travis has likely played his last game as a Blazer.

You guys get out there and guard Ron Artest then. That guy's a beast! Don't blame Travis for trying, this ain't NBA 2k9 on the Xbox. Artest bullies everyone he plays against.

The problem isn't his man defense, it's his lack of knowledge on defense. Numerous occasions he does not rotate to the open shooter in the corner for a three that usually kills our momentum. On picks he ALWAYS switches when it's not needed forcing him to guard a smaller quicker guard, forcing either Blake or Rodriguez guard a bigger stronger small forward or power forward. I don't expect Outlaw to play premiere man defense, he does fine at it, it's his team defense that scares me.

if you recall outlaw did really well in the regular season.. i think he just cracked under pressure..this year was a huge learning experience..it takes time to develop a really good playoff team..it doesn't happen over night.

after all his growth in the last couple of years, and after i have defended him thru thick and thin, travis in this series looked just plain lost and without a clue of what he should do or where he should be. didn't have any idea who to pick up on switches and was late almost every time. i hate to say it but travis has had enough time to mature and it is looking more and more that he just isnt going to fit into this system. i say trade travis, bundle him with sergio and pick up a world class 3 that can play stiffeling defense and can create his own shot off the dribble. im not concerned with the threes as we have many guys that can knock down a 3 when needed but unfortunately travis' time in portland is over. really a sad state of affairs....really sad, i really like the kid...what a wonderful person...but......................................

I have always been biased to Travis, but what fans think really doesnt matter in the war room . KP does not make major decisions for the future based on 4 or 5 games. Listening to what he and Roy both have said , I wouldn't be so quick to pack Travis' bags. I'm leaving my new picture up through the summer as a reminder, of who's opinion really matters for this team.
We are all disappointed by the Houston series and wanted more, but you can't only point a finger at Travis in a 6 game series. It was a learning experience with more growing pains. After an amazing season.

Imo, the pg situation is where a decision needs to be made. Brooks lit them up too many times. Oden picks up too many fouls on pgs getting to the rim. Oden doesnt need help picking up fouls.
I only wish I could have seen more of Bayless playing with Roy, so I could truly know if it was better to go with that, or add Bayless to a trade that would get us the pg this team still needs, along with Blake.
I like Chacho, and I loved him and Rudy this season, but it will take someone convincing me Chacho should stay with out using the word Rudy in the statement. Any pg worth their weight, will be throwing Rudy lobs in no time.

Summer league and draft day should be great again... In KP we trust !!!

    Go Blazers !!!!!

yes this is true, but after six years Travis still hasn't proven he is worhty of a starting spot... we need to bring in someone who is. Package him and sergio/bayless i say.

We need to stop saying that we need to bring in a starting SF. We have one in Martel, he just had a nagging injury this season. He wasn't quite healed when he tried to come back and so he ended up refracturing his foot. This doesn't count as injury prone, this doesn't count as anything negative against Martel, he just tried to come back too early. OOOPS, it happens get past it. This time he has all summer to let it heal, then my bet is he will report early to training camp and scrimmage 1 on 1 with Batum. This will be mutually benneficial and we will have a true starter come pre-season. Then Outlaw will be the 6th man coming in at either the 3 or 4 spot depending on who doesn't have the hot hand or who needs the first rest. If both need a rest then both TO and Batum come in and bring scoring and defense to the second unit. There is a lot to look forward to. We don't need to acquire a new SF, Martel is our starter, he was just injured. We need to stop forgetting him. On top of all this, we have most of the Blazer core coming up on Free Agency in 2010, we also still have Darius Miles's contract still on the books, so please, stop just throwing posts up without evaluating the entire situation. Be realistic about it all, don't get your hopes up too high for changes because most of the changes that are going to be made will be developmental. To Travis's credit, he has actually improved a little bit every year, just not as much as the other players around him. It is worth it to keep him another year then he is a Free Agent in 2010.

And another thing, stop throwing Bayless under the bus too. He is the hardest worker on the team and if being a better passer and having a better jumper are going to mean more PT for him next year guess what he is already working on? The guy is an all out competitor and he is going to be a star next season I guarantee it. Give the guy a chance before you ship him off to give us trouble in the future. Wait, the money ball doesn't lie, KP knows what he is doing and there is a reason he didn't trade Bayless or Batum at midseason. They are part of our future, just wait and see.

The 3 spot cant even be considered until we see what Martell brings. Frenchie isnt going anywhere.
Travis' strenght has and always will be coming off the bench, at the 4 to create the mismatch. Let him fill his role, and give credit to Artest and Battier for their defense in the Houston series.
I personally like the option of Frye or Travis to back up LA, but they both need to be more physical. I think they are capable of it. Frye also gives another 7 footer with 6 fouls if needed. With Oden, they are needed. They both also have chemistry with this team that a newcomer may not.
So again, imo, it's the pg situation that needs to be looked at. My statement on Chacho also applies in English and Spanish.... convince me he should be the back up pg with out using the word Rudy.

I can't make a case for him, because I feel like Bayless will be that much better come training camp. I think he may even start part way through the season. It is definitely going to be an interesting offseason, I don't think there will be a lot of moves, or even very big ones, but I think the development of some of our young guys will be a huge facelift of its own.

I'm not 100% convinced Travis is a lock to come back next year, but I don't think I'd put it under 90% either, lol. The ONLY way he goes is if we get some sort of ridiculous value for him via trade. Otherwise, he'll be back and lofting up all his variety of fade-away Js in no time flat.

Im not impressed with Gortat. Everyone wants him but he seems mediorcre to me. He is the most realistic option since all it would take is the 10th pick, but I think he is old and declining.
