I have to admit, Yao Ming even being on the All-Star ballot this year was confusing to me. Now today, the news is that Popovich is replacing him as a starter with Tim Duncan.
    Popovich said...
"I think it's totally appropriate and obvious that he should be the starter," Popovich said before the Spurs' 109-99 loss at Chicago on Thursday night. "I don't have any problem with it."

Keep in mind that Ducnan is averaging 13.4 points and 9.2 boards per game. It's arguable that he shouldn't even be there, but the logic is that since the Spurs are 46-10 he deserves it - but starting?!?! The problem I have with that is that the same train of thought ought to apply to Lamarcus Aldridge, who has his team currently in 5th place in the West, and who's numbers are very similar overall, but far exceed since the snub (averaging almost 30 points and over 9 boards per game) those of Love and Griffin who's teams sit firmly in 15th and 13th in the West respectively. The nepotism of Pop's selection is obvious and shameful.

When asked about being named the starter, Tim Duncan said...
"I didn't expect to be there this year and I definitely didn't expect to start, so definitely a great honor," he said. "I don't know, year-in and year-out I continue to be on that starting squad. I really don't know why I'm there but I'll take it."

Well, I don't know why he's there either. He definately has the spot of somone more deserving - and lots of people know it. Has there ever been a multiple time player of the week winner who wasn't there before? I for one won't be watching any of the All-Star festivities this year. It's not really a boycot - I just have no interest. It seems like a really foolish waste of time to me.

End of rant. Thanks for reading if you made it to the end.

I hate that it's turned into a popularity contest but...LA is our all star now!!!  I'm glad he get's the rest anyways...carrying this team for the duration of the season has to be tiring even for an all star. GO BLAZERS!

No All-Star selection for Aldridge, but an All-NBA team selection would be a fine compromise.

All-Star weekend has been pretty cool so far, but they really need to take fan voting away from the dunk contest. Or have it be like 1 of 5 parts that decides the winner, 4 judges and popular vote or something. Because Griffin DID NOT deserve to win that last night. I was honestly more impressed with about everybody else last night. Ibaka was very solid, McGee should've won, DeRozan's reverse was maybe the best dunk of the night. Griffin was just Griffin. Sure, some impressive stuff, but he just didn't deserve to win, or in my opinion even make the final round.
I'm confused at reading all of the "Griffin deserved to win" stuff.
That being said, it was one really good dunk contest.

Serge Ibaka's free throw line dunk should have been a 10, Javale I felt kind of gave up at the end or just ran out of dunks because Serge stole it (don't worry Javale we Blazer fans can empathize with you on a Thunder stealing your "thunder"), DeMar's self-oop catch the ball in mid-air with one hand running baseline, float from one end of the hoop to the next and jam it home with POWER was THE best dunk of the night. As Kenny said, you don't need the props and the parade to do all that to win....oh wait Kenny...you did.

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...
