    Press Release
"LaMarcus is having a career year and has established himself as one of the best big men in the game," said Trail Blazers Head Coach Nate McMillan. "To do what he did over the last three games is a rare feat, and this is an honor well deserved."
Aldridge, 25, averaged 38.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.67 blocked shots and 1.33 steals last week, leading Portland to wins over Chicago, Toronto and Detroit. The fifth-year Trail Blazer scored a career-high 42 points in a 109-103 win over Chicago and shot 63.1% from the floor and 84.6% from the free throw line on the week.
    LaMarcus Aldridge, Portland Trail Blazers
Feb. 7 vs. Chicago: Posted 42 points, eight rebounds and two steals during a 109-103 win over the Bulls.
Feb. 11 @ Toronto: Tallied 37 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks in a 102-96 victory over the Raptors.
Feb. 13 @ Detroit: Collected 36 points, four rebounds and three assists in a 105-100 win over the Pistons.
Congrats LA, well deserved! That's his second player of the week honor already in 2011. At this point it's becoming normal for him to drop 30+ points and grab 10+ rebounds all in a winning effort on a nightly basis. I don't know of any player in recent memory who has just flipped the proverbial switch so quickly and taken his game to the next level. Right now, Aldridge is genuinely playing like a superstar!

I have over time been one of LA's biggest critics because I felt he didnt care and really didnt live up to his talent level or paycheck> I normally dont worry about how much a guy makes but talent level is important! LA I take my hat off to you and bow to what you have done. Congrats! You have earned me back as a fan! GO BLAZERS!

This makes me happy, but its almost like a "Here you didn't get the AS vote, but we will give this to you again!" type move. He deserves an All star spot, thats a given. Good Job LMA! We are proud to call you a Blazer

I hope LaMarcus keeps that hunger to always work on improving his game; he is certainly on his way to greatness.  This is an awesome achievement.
I am a fan of the Blazers playing hard-nosed defense.

could this have ever been in doubt? i've been checking nba-dot-com this morning and it was just like waiting for the official announcement. who would have thought at the beginning of the season we would be talking about LaMarcus this way? i knew he was solid (last year's 18 points and 8 rebounds aren't nothing to sneeze at), but seeing this amazing emergence has been absolutely wonderful. congratulations, LaMarcus; very well-earned.

    Congrats on another POTW!

Have a HUGE game vs. Minny, at home vs. New Orleans and the talking heads won't stop talking about LA getting snubbed from the All-Star game.

LaMarcus is taking his game to a whole new level. Had he played this way since the start of the season, not only would he have made the All-Star but also be highly considered for MVP! Congrats Lamarcus!

Fantastic news and well deserved! LA has emerged in the absence of our teams super-star and helped lift the Blazers to a new level of excellence WITHOUT key players...amazing job and congratulation LaMarcus Aldridge.

    peace out,

Man, to see LA come out and FINALLY live up to what everyone in the NW knew he could is nothing short of amazing. Since LA was drafted I've been saying, "He's too soft and if he could just get that edge in his personality he could be great." This is the year baby! Aldridge all the way!

Cmeese, like you said, per 48 is only good for someone playing at least 30 minutes, so you can''t use his 30 min season, and compare it to his 20 minute seasons. And all those previous seasons, Nic was purely a catch and shoot guy, and had plays c...

Can he do anything else? Can he actually play his position? Handling the ball is well and good, but he firsts needs to be able to play his position. Rebound, and play D. Until he can do that, don''t take him. This is why I think Nerlens Noel won''...

I don''t like Dwight, but he''s a top center in the league. I say top not thee top because I''d easily pick Marc Gasol, Joakim Noah, and maybe even Roy Hibbert over him.
