Should Portland Have Given Chris Johnson Another 10-Day Contract?
Yes- We need all the bigs we can get (30)
     68%
No- Camby will be back soon and Marks is good enough (14)
     32%

    Official Update from our PR-

A quick heads up that we will not be re-signing Chris johnson to a second 10-day contract.  We signed Johnson with the injury exception we were granted by the league when Marcus Camby went down. The exception is good for two weeks.  So, by signing Johnson to a second 10-day contract, it would have meant that Camby would have had to sit out the next two weeks (7 games), healthy or not, and that wasn't a risk we wanted to take as it appears he'll be back before then.

    Via Twitter-
    Ben Golliver
GM Rich Cho says no second 10-day for Chris Johnson.
What do you guys think? Should he have been given another shot or does this indicate a trade? Or maybe that Camby is closer to returning than we originally though?

Quick: Looks like they think Camby will be back within 2 weeks-
The Trail Blazers will not re-sign center Chris Johnson because the team feels a rehabilitating Marcus Camby will be ready to return within two weeks, general manager Rich Cho said on Friday.

Johnson was signed to a 10-day contract on Jan. 24 as part of an injury exception the Blazers were granted following Camby’s left knee surgery. The exception is valid only if the injured player is out for two weeks.

He has more upside than Marks. Should have given him a good run to see what he can do.

Would have loved to see his potential. We've seen what Marks can do and it's not that impressive. What could it have hurt to extend to another 10-Day Contract?

i'm really surprised that we didn't offer the second 10 days. with Marcus still out, it seemed like a given to me.

Personally, I don't care for either one of them. The only difference I can see is that Mark's has a smoother shot then Chris. Johnson had alot of opportunities last game and he blew them all in my opinion. Plus, Joel really needs to play more and get back in "NBA" shape. If he stays at the pace he is now, he will most definatley be gone by trade deadline. He is just not the same Joel anymore and we need a center that can at least provide a tad bit of offence to keep the defence honest...otherwise, just like now, defenders will be pressuring our jump shooters and shots will NOT be falling.

    peace out,
    daddy

I wasn't impressed at all with Chris Johnson.  IMO, he needs to put on about 50 lbs of muscle to be an NBA center.

I thought he would be a better 3rd Center long term than Marks.

Remember, Camby's name was continually surfacing in trade rumors before his injury.  The trade deadline is the 24th.  This decision is indicative of a long-term approach, and therefore, a sound one.

Noel was playing at around 220 so I doubt the added weight will slow him down too much the guy just needs to continue his rehab and hit the weight room and he will be fine.
