Looks like the NBA is starting a campaign for Aldridge of their own.  Good to get some recognition for his hard work.  Just hope he can keep it up when Roy comes back.

Add in David Aldridge's latest article as well, where he states LA should make it in even over Blake Griffin-
Aldridge would vote in Aldridge over Griffin

By contrast, Aldridge -- with a lot less to work with than Griffin has after the injuries to Greg Oden, Brandon Roy and Marcus Camby -- has kept the Blazers in the playoff race, and above .500. In the 21 games the Blazers have played since Roy last was on the court, Aldridge is averaging 23.7 points, 9.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists and is shooting 51.5 percent from the floor. He's been in double-figure scoring in 20 of those 21, and double-figure boards 13 times.

Its not worth aldridge going there and getting hurt, just so Portland can flex its muscles(mod edit-distasteful and unnecessary-clean it up) in the eyes of the NBA

He will; in fact, it will make them both even better because teams won't be able to double team them and it will make the role players that much better.

I'm rather have LMA go to the All-Star game, get credit, thus more respect from the league and even it's horrible officials, than him playing in a game against Cleveland, in which we'll likely win anyways, and getting injured.  No doubt he'll play against Cleveland, so why are you so paranoid that Aldridge will get hurt in the ASG?

Likely if Blake Griffin makes it too, LaMarcus will play only around 10 minutes or so.  The man deserves it without question, why should we hold him back because there's a 10 minute period of him having a chance to get injured?

You don't seem to have a problem with him playing against some of the "if you don't win you're embarrassing" games, but seem to have a problem with him playing at the biggest stage in the regular season?

Even though it doesn't count record wise, it's still a very important game to the team and the player.

Well the all star game is a time when players can put their minds on cruise control and not really focus, idk it just seems illogical.
wanting him to go to the all star game so the league respects him more? i mean is that how it works?
i dont think it does, but thats just me. You are insinuating that once you go to the all star game you get away with more calls from the refs?
If so it didnt work for B Roy, and he went twice...
I dont see how it has anything to do with the team....like where is the validity in that?
Its all on him, it only affects him.
However HE affects the whole team. what if he is too tired to play the following game, and you lose to Cleveland?

You don't seem to have a problem with him playing against some of the "if you don't win you're embarrassing" games, but seem to have a problem with him playing at the biggest stage in the regular season?

i honestly dont understand what this means, i dont think i have ever referred to a game like that.
a win is a win, unless its a big win.
But to address that, i dont have a problem with him playing in a game where everything he does matters, compared to the "stage" which has nothing to do with the team and only benefits his resume.

The dude is at the peak of his game now, its only uphill for him from here as far as development goes... so if he wants to be in the ASG, trust me he will, many times before his career is done.
however, living in the now, with the team, for this season....how many chances do you get to win a championship, and if thats what this franchise wants to focus on let it be that, and let the undying need to be recognized cease......once and for all

What you seem to be forgetting is that the All Star Game is an honor, not something to stress over.  Its all about having fun!  If LA goes to LA, its him getting awarded and giving the fans of not just Portland, but the NBA, as good of a show as he can produce with whatever minutes he can scrape in his first All Star Game.  Roy got advice in his first game "Listen, you're not going to get many minutes in your first game here.  You don't have that respect yet.  Just remember, this game is just a game.  There is nothing on the line.  Whatever you do here is not going to affect whether or not your team goes to the playoffs, has a good season, or wins a championship.  So in the few minutes you do get, put your best foot forward and try to show the fans why you're there."

Same advice for LA.  Not a lot of minutes, BFD.  You are getting recognized here for all your hard work.  If you don't play your best game, its just a game.  Reach for the sky hoping to touch a lucky star.  As far as getting hurt, there isn't a single player on either team that takes this game serious enough to get that aggressive with each other, especially when they know it doesn't mean jack.

Add another national publication (Sports Illustrated) to the list that views LA as All-Star worhty-
He has turned into a monster over the last six weeks as injuries have robbed Portland of Brandon Roy, Marcus Camby and others. Aldridge averaged 25 and 10 in January, maintained a 50 percent mark from the floor and got to the line more often than he ever has. Circumstances had thrust Alridge into a larger role, and he flourished in a scenario in which many players see their shooting percentages and overall efficiency drop. He gets major points for that.

The All-Star game is the ultimate pickup game. You have elite players going against eachother for the fun of it. It's not for the glory (unless you're LeBron, perhaps). There's no reason to fret about a player going there to get injured. I'm convinced the Clippers aren't worried about Blake Griffin and all he's doing (Rookie/Soph game, dunk contest, possibly the big game), I'm sure the Heat and Celtics aren't worried about any of their guys, the Hornets ain't worried about CP3 either. I have no worries about injuries from LaMarcus nor Wesley.
So what if the ASG doesn't matter for a team's record? It's all about recognition of individuals and having fun for a "weekend". Why do you think they even have a celebrity game? Fun.
@TayC, I can only see the instant thought of an injury being a lack of faith in Aldridge. He's kept himself in every game this season. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's only Wesley and Dante who have done the same thing this season for the Blazers. Aldridge is showing no reason not to trust him with himself on the court.
The season that Aldridge is having corresponds to a depleted roster (second year in a row). He has stepped up and shown himself to be the All-Star (at least caliber) player many thought he could be. He's on a winning team, which can't be said for Kevin Love's Wolves or Blake Griffin's Clippers. There's no reason LA shouldn't be recognized as an All-Star. If you're fearing an injury in the kind of game the ASG is, you're expressing a bit of pessimism and aren't really analyzing very well. LaMarcus, should he be invited, will be well-deserving of the honor.
