Interesting Article on bleacher Report about each teams most important play maker....

The best playmaker on most teams is the starting point guard.

However, there are a few unconventional squads like Miami whose top playmaker does not play that position.

To determine who were the best playmakers, I looked at three key statistics: assists per game (APG), assist to turnover ratio (A/T) and assist percentage (AST%).

Assist percentage is a stat that estimates the percentage of teammates' field goals that the player assisted on while he was on the floor.

In ranking the playmakers, the most important stats to consider deal with assists.  However, overall playmaking ability was also in mind (scoring, ball handling, etc.

The reason i thought some of you might like this is that they give credit in a pretty just manner, and they give some credit to Portland and Andre Miller.

Yeah i don't know why everyone wants to trade Dre he is a good point guard. Although i do have to point out Devin Harris was higher on that list, a player we would have received if the Melo trade went through but i'm glad it didn't because i like Dre and hope he can help the younger point guard that we might receive in the next few seasons.

So based on what the list says, Dre is more important to the Blazers than Kobe is to the Lakers? In your face, Kobe!

No it says he makes more plays for other people. being a point guard i would hope to have my play making ability higher than the best shooting guard in the NBA.

Interesting! Hoping Cho is reading this and doesn't trade Dre away - I think we need what he brings to the team- experiance, calmness, making play for others....

Since you said it, it made me wonder: what if the Blazers were able to sign Hedo Turkoglu during the free agency of 2009?

Yeah, true. But what I meant to ask is, would Turkoglu had been effective in the Blazers offense if he signed in Portland? Because if not, and we were able to trade him, I wonder who could we have gotten for him.

Hmmm... Nevermind. He chose to sign with Toronto anyway (and traded to Phoenix and traded to Orlando), so past is past :|

Greg wants a fresh start. Portland wants a fresh start. And thank you, Siccolo, for comparing this to B Roy. Any draft prospect is going to be pretty impressed with what GO can do on the court... even a 75% GO. A kid that has no idea what NBA game...

To go another season with so many rookies is not a good idea. We need a couple of vets and atleast one young bench scorer. If we want a Center, go after Hawes from Philly and Dorrell wright can be signed as a free agent. We can trade our 2nd round...

Thanks Ricky.   I''ll be watching @ 10.   Haven''t seen enough right hand from Shazamm.   Without the ability to take his defender either way off the bounce, let alone finish at the cup with either hand?   Second rounder at best.

Sug81 I love Iggy but this team has numerous gaping holes throughout the depth chart so signing Iggy is not the best way to spend our limited funds

That roster looks pretty good, but if we would have enough cash Corey or Ronnie brewer would be nice
