I respect Cho, but his arms are still tied by PA, so he can work any deal he wants....but he can't do anything till he gets the final word. Lame, but its the reality of it...for any team. Curious to see what happens in the near future.

Cho's right.  Draft picks are the way to go.  Every one in a trade will cost us and we don't want to give up anyone just build from here on out.  I truly don't see anyone out there I like.  Speaking of our core, remember we aren't healthy yet.  Don't think for a second next year's going to be like this one.  I say three to four draft picks and the three that were mention with the two coming off injury we'd be back on top!  Looking at what we have right now, we have great roll players. From this point to next season we will have everyone back healthy with three to four strong parts of this team that can be trusted as go to players.  I'm with Cho!  Don't give up a thing to another team. Hold for the future.  The future is only one or two years away.

I really like and appreciate this quote-
"I will be the first one to admit that I thought the New Orleans pick would be a higher pick. I will be the first to admit that," Cho said. "But at the same time, I don't think you can say that is going to be a worthless pick, because if you look at two of the guys who are critical components of this team -- Wesley Matthews and Nicolas Batum -- they were undrafted and the 25th pick."
It's impressive when people can admit a questionable decision but also don't dwell on it and try to turn it into a positive. Lots of player were taken in the 20's of the draft (Tony Parker, Rajon Rondo, David West, etc), so the pick is not worthless. I mean, Wesley went undrafted. Arenas, Boozer, Big Baby & Millsap were all 2nd round picks. If you o your homework, you can make any pick valuable.

    Another great quote-
"But I think you have to think short term and long term," Cho said. "We are not going to sacrifice a long-term goal for a short-term benefit."
I'm lad we're not out there trying to get guys like Antwan Jamison in hopes of maybe moving up to the 6th seed. Think long-term. I know it's tough, but LA is old, Dallas is old, SA is old, and Boston is old.

why do so many believe we will trade Miller, isn't he part of our blazer core right now?  With so many injuries can we afford to trade core in the short run for long term hopes?  not sure.................

Joel Przybilla the most likely to be moved.  As a serviceable center and with his expiring, this is a given.  With Dre, the Blazers have more time, and making a change at PG before the end of the season might jeopardize plans for a postseason appearance.  That said, if a contending team loses their starting point before the deadline to serious injury, Miller's value would then peak, bringing Cho and the Blazers more in return.

I'm not convinced that the Bayless deal was a bad one.  Jerryd has been dealt twice already this season and is having a difficult time demonstrating worth in the league.  Only time will tell.  Until Cho uses the NO pick, I'm not allowing myself an opinion either way.

Was wondering what Michael Jordan was doing at the Blazer game this week.....who was he looking at??  Could we be interested in someone on his team, or he ours ??  While Andre is very solid and serviceable, we REALLY need a 'top flight' guard !!  An engine for the train so to speak !!
It is time to 'package'  some of our goods and go for CP3, Deron Williams, or Russell Westbrook....I understand how unlikely these guys are, but......., while the options are few and the future is still bright, we need to fill this position.
It appears that Luke Babbitt is not what we thought....Martell sure looks good right now....Dante is filling a role quite well right now!! What do we really think of Elliot Williams??  His size and 'leaping' ability work...by now we should have a feel for his desire and head, when will he be ready to go...next year??  Armon Johnson started the year strong, I'm glad he was sent to Idaho to get more game time experience, a few less turn overs and better decision making, and I believe he'd be a strong guard in this league.  We need to remember guards like Steve Nash, Tony Parker, et al, didn't come in and 'start'...they we're developed over a few years.  Nate should be able to 'teach' and bring him along nicely. That leaves us to find our way this year.....and kudos to Nate and staff so far !!
Pryzbilla is an inspiration, even if he still can't move very well...we need to keep his 'strength', 'toughness'  and 'fight'   Even if it is for a few minutes each game. Canby is a keeper too.... We know they are fighting father time, but the age and wisedom they bring cannot be taken too lightly....as well as the 'rolls' they play in the mix.  Sean Marks needs TO GO ....quick. Hopefully Chris Johnson, can handle the speed and strength of the NBA, his size and athletisism work...desire and effort sure make up for a lot! HINT !!!
Patty is serviceable at best...Rudy is hustling....Roy and Oden are our UNKNOWN factors at this point...but they are OURS, and we need them....even if they are not at 100%...look what Sabonis brought.
Lastly LaMarcus is growing into the MAN, and Player we all looked forward to.....and Nicolas' future is very bright !! Wesley was a GREAT pick up, a 'core' for the future!!
OK  .....   Cho....lets get a blockbuster going for a POINT GUARD...do what you need to do !!!

it would be a great quote had the blazers drafted either one of those players, but they didnt, did they? The fact of the matter is, Cho has walked into this organization and along with its its fancy GM office it comes along with horrible draft luck. As a long term blazer fan you should know this....

The reason i choose andre miller, is because i have faith in Armon and Mills to develop into nice PG's for this team or if anything they will grow and become nice assets to trade away.
With Andre i feel as if he is our best bait to reel in a big fish. To obtain our missing piece it seems we need to offer up someone of value.
Now with Joel having said " my wife and i have talked about retirement" who knows who else knows about that. But with Andre i dont think he's been on the record with anything like that, however i do understand that he really is a nice offensive component to aide in the new play we have come across.

But with his antics, and his attitude, i mean dont pass up on that, get him out of here and let the blazers work it out without him. I mean this team has always given major roles to young players, players with little to no experience and it hasnt slowed them down before. Let Johnson and Mills have it.

I hope we deal Pryzbilla.  He has a 7 million dollar expiring contract which could be pretty valuable since there are a lot of teams that are looking to cut salary by trading away their players with long term deals for players with expiring contracts

I see what your saying TayC but the team saw potential in those players so they picked them up so it was a good pick for Portland. Hopefully Cho is a better drafter than Pritchard. I also hope Cho makes a good trade and doesn't completely F@#$ up the franchise. Cuz his last trade (in my opinion) wasn't  all that good. Yeah he owned up to it but when our team is looking like Sac he'll just say oops. Thats not good enough. Know what i'm sayin?

people i see as moveable are::
"Andre Miller" (has alot of pro's and con's to his game, B.Roy was frustrated with his pace of play and i see the same frustration in Coach Nate at times as well... but Nate also knows to turn to Andre when he needs to win the turnover battles which is crucial)

"Rudy Fernandez"(Because he stock might be at its highest) & also spotty defense sometimes a liability.

Priz(Obviously expiring contract, Getting Old, Trade Him before another injury)

I think what Cho was trying to tell teams is he is not going to trade Core Team Players like b.roy, l.a, batum & matthews... & so forth

Harris is a great point guard, the only reason he isn't tearin it up right now is that he doesn't have anybody to rely on. when he was in Dallas he had Dirk and Jet and people who could get things done. Nets don't have anyone after Lopez.

I think it's safe to say Joel and Andre will be going.  Joel the most likely, but at this moment, I don't want to see anything moved except Rudy and Patty.  I don't see these two being long term players for the Blazers.  We need to get an elite point guard, and it appears to me that Nate is trying to auction Patty off rather than improve his game for the future of the team.

We got Armon Johnson sitting on the bench to study the game.  The kid is active, he asks questions, and wants to play the game.  I keep hearing how he's a "Nate guy", and I think he's our future BACKUP point guard, and not Patty.

We'll be resigning Pendergraph when he's able to play next season.

Babbit and Armon will likely play as key bench players.  Cunningham is already set to be a Blazer for his entire career with the hustle he brings.  JP is a solid center that can play as a backup to Oden.  And Mathews will likely come off the bench as a SG, or him and Babbit will be playing as SG/SF and switching off.

I don't really care what we do with Andre, as long as we get someone that's younger but as talented in return.  I wouldn't be surprised if we keep Andre and try our hopes for the Free Agency of Chris Paul or other decent point guards.  Andre is aging, but he hardly shows it, and the Indiana game shows he runs the team well.  The only reason to move him is because of Brandon.

All I can say is Patty has no future as a Blazer except a cheerleader and fan favorite.  Rudy obviously will get frustrated again with Babbit, Roy, Mathews, and Batum taking his spot, limiting his playing time.

Not trying to be haters, I respect both of them very much, but they aren't the type of players that are going to be solid bench players for a championship contender.  Patty is just a smaller version of Bayless with a less cocky attitude.

Yes lets trade Joel, and go out and get a point guard. sure glad we got Sean Marks he is a much better player than Joel him and our other center ....oh wait a minute ..... all our other centers ARE BROKEN but who cares lets trade Joel cause he is old and has an expiring contract besides we got ....oh wait a minute all our centers are BROKEN. Now unless the another team really losses their mind and trades a big who is better than Joel I would say go for it, the same goes for Andre Miller. Personally I would like to trade about half our small forwards for a consistant shooting guard and back up power forward and wait until next season to see where the CBA stands.

Memphis is one game back from us. If or when they pull ahead of us for the 8th playoff spot, does that mean Cho trys to improve this team instead of findings ways to degrade it? Or do we sit here and keep dropping games to improve our draft status for the summer, being that he wants to amass good draft picks.

I always thought players on the team got a bonus for making the playoffs? I suppose Cho doesn't worry about trivial little player incentives like that.

i really don't see us trading Joel or Marcus. we're already thin up front; trading away either one of them would only make us thinner up front. even if we traded one of them for another big, we don't really accomplish that much. it's highly unlikely we'll trade Andre before Brandon returns and while Armon is still in the d-league with the stampede. i can see us possibly trading Luke, Armon or maybe Sean for draft picks.

on Bayless, i liked his style of play; it was fun to watch. however, it really wasn't suited to Nate's system. he's done well in toronto, but i don't think he would have had the same success here. at the time we traded him, we were pretty crowded at his position, and for all intents and purposes right now, we're still crowded. it may not seem that way, but we have to realize that we've got Brandon and Elliot injured. having even one of them active would crowd the guard position(s) even further. i still don't think there's room for another guard given what we have on the roster already.

If Cho is gangster (  he could be, he's just waiting patiently to ChoSlap ) he moves Rudy for another back up big, or enough protein shakes to put some weight/muscle on Chris Johnson ( I thought Nic was skinny ).
    My reasoning:
Roy will be back, (Nate already thinking about having him travel) and we all know what happens with Rudys being so "happy in Portland" then. Mills has earned a back up roster spot, but it's Sergio part 2. What you see is what you get, not the starting pg to put this team over the top.  EW will be back too, creating a log jam for minutes at the 2.

I don't see an injured player (Camby)being traded at this point.
Dre is worth more to this team ( not that old, great at working with the youngsters) than draft picks, and no pg available through trade is an improvement.

As much as it pains me, Joel may be included in the deal. I hope he can retire, and enjoy his family.  If it happens, he will be missed. The Blazers should hold a rally for fans to thank Big Joel if it happens.

Another source (via CBSSports), claims Cho is poised for a "pretty significant" Feb. 24th-
One exec said he believes Portland GM Rich Cho is "poised for a pretty significant 24th." Given the grim prognosis for star guard Brandon Roy and the uncertainty about what cap space will be worth under the new labor rules, Cho is seriously considering cashing in on the expiring contract of Joel Przybilla and the essentially expiring deal of Andre Miller, whose 2011-12 salary is fully non-guaranteed. Marcus Camby, who has a year left at $12.9 million, could be enticing to one of the few deep-pocketed contenders not shy about taking on future money with CBA changes looming. The Mavericks, for example, will "listen to anything," according to a source.

Nothing earth shattering. I think everyone pretty much expects either Joel or Andre to be traded if a trade is to be made. I do wonder if Dre is dealt if it will be for another PG or if Nate feels confident enough in Patty playing 15-20 minutes and having Rudy/Roy splitting the leftover minutes there.

Father Time doesn't stop just because BASKETBALL does.  Dre and Camby will continue to age during a lock-out.  The amount of good basketball left in their careers will begin to evaporate.  Hanging on to either with the stoppage looming may not be wise.  Therefore, an argument could be made that their value in trade is peaking NOW.  What will either bring to the Blazers in return after said lock-out?  Not much more than simply the expiring contract.  Conversely, either can and would play a significant role for a team looking at going deep THIS year.  Food for thought.

While the local airwaves and TV shows may not be talking this up, rest assured Blazer GM Rich Cho is well aware.

Sometimes you must take a step back to take two steps forward.

Paul Allen said how do we get better?  I see no activity in the draft with no draft picks.  The trade possibilities are limited because of the value of our bench players.  We have no cap space.  So I think the improvement of our b...

First Game starts tonight. Houston is a tough first round opponent and they play exceptionally well at home. If we can steal a game or two at their place, I feel like we have extremely good chances.

P.S. Would anybody happen to have a...

The Blazers were winning!  That is the key word, were.  Blazers are living proof that you can live and die by the jumper.  Lately it has been dying.

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...
